Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar f tn re not also busy diagnosing and treating the flu and heart problems and body pain etc. So theoretically they become much more expert in it and the interactions between drugs and things like quitting smoking and also in the appropriate drugs to prescribe for a certain condition. Beta blockers, for example, have only been found effective for social anxiety, which doesn't mean they don't work for some people for other things but that's not their main use in anxiety treatment.
534360 tn?1234721915 I would hold off until you speak to your doc. You're starting the Celexa and Inderal all at once? The Celexa will take time to work, up to 4-6 weeks. The Inderal should be effective for anxiety (is that what you were given it for? ) fairly quickly, however I have some concerns, 40mg three times a day is a pretty hefty dose. Inderal can lower your BP, so you want to be very careful. I would keep an eye on your BP for a few days until you adjust to the med.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol for my blood pressure and keeps my heart steady when a panic attack comes around. For my anxiety, the dr put me on celexa, propranolol, and Ativan. This combo usually works pretty well.
Avatar f tn No, no, no. You don't do these meds with a nurse practitioner, for goodness sake. You only do this with an experienced psychiatrist you trust. That's a lot of medication and potential interactions, and these meds are hard to start and hard to quit. And most importantly, if you're doing great, why do you want another drug? None of them completely rid one of the problem.
Avatar f tn to treatments: Propranalol (Inderal; for tremor reduction and/or migraine prevention) Celexa (antidepressant) to events: busy day (or some other brief phrase about overdoing things) Thank you.
Avatar m tn The beta blockers (Propranolol) helped a bit, basically stopped my heart beating so fast and getting panicky. The diazepam (Valium) well that did chill me out but its so addictive and the next day I felt like i was in a drug hang over until I took more. My shinning light and saviour Citalopram, it's used for depression and panic attacks.
Avatar m tn Mao inhibitors are really last ditch efforts. Are you taking Klonopin or any other anti-anxiety med? Have you tried any tricyclics like amitriptiline? Have you tried Buspar? I tried a lot of SSRI's and finally landed on Celexa and it has helped alot. I know you don't want to keep trying drugs that don't work, but I would exhaust other alternatives before deciding on Nardil. As you said it is quite restrictive. I'm not sure injecting it would solve the interaction issues.
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar m tn Thanks for the information. I have been on the Metoprolol since this past Wednesday and have had not adverse effects. I still have an occasional PVC, but they are barely noticable. I still, however, have anxiety and a bit of depression. So, the doctor has prescribed Xanax (PRN) and Celexa. From reading around, MT and Celexa aren't a good combinaton, so I haven't taken it yet. I have been taking the Xanax though to curb the anxiety.
3122467 tn?1342138836 To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.
Avatar f tn I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy. 2 weeks later I have come back on again this time seems normal I'm quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem or similar and would you say it's something to worry about I just want to talk to people with the same situation so I feel comfortable and can kinda put my mind at rest a little.
Avatar n tn I also take the Propranolol twice a day for my heart. The Propranolol was prescribed for my heart and never for anything else. Now I am currently taking Propranolol in the morning along with Paxil, at night I take Propranolol again. I take the Klonopin is taken as needed twice a day.
Avatar m tn CeleXa inhibits reuptake allowing more seratonin to be left in the synaptic gap causing the threshold for the nerves firing to be techniquelly less because less has to be delivered for the spark to occur since more is already there and available. I have smoked M. for 2 years and recently started CeleXa. The only thing ive noticed thus far is that I am less affected by the M. now that I am on CeleXa.
Avatar f tn In the end, NOTHING could control the levels and I had RAI and TT in 2008.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar f tn I take it daily however it is along with other meds too. Usually treating migraines and/or anxiety is not a one-thing-fix-all. And even if something worked on you in the past may not work today and vise-versa. You can definitely ask about it, it won't hurt. But, my suggestion is to just let your doctor how bad it is and let him/her choose what to give you next. Remember, treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
4155003 tn?1351614311 You need to talk to your doctor before getting out, i try propanolol because doctor said i had hyperthyroid, i took a pill, n discover chest pain, do i stop right away, i went back to the doctor and told her what happen and she dismissed for me to take propanolol and she said my blood work came back normal, i heard if you been taking propanolol for a while is bad to just quit, it can cause worse symptoms, so talk to ur doc, she will recommend lower dose, then she will take u off, if she thinks i
5140021 tn?1364185966 I read a paper that Celexa helps vertigo. anyone experience this? I may have to get back on Celexa and not for Panic or Anxiety but for the vertigo that started 3 days ago.
1302779 tn?1287405029 hello all i have been on 40mg celexa and .05 klonopin for a few months now. I feel that the ssri doesnt relly touch the anxiety ,and without the klonopin i would still be anxious! Does anyone get anxiety relief from there ssri alone? i know many people take 2 or more meds and I just wanted to know if im on the right track. any input would be great!
Avatar f tn these are very low doses and should not affect weight. Propranolol a beta-blocker can also be extremely effective and non-addicting. With panic they may need to combined with something like Imipramine or Ativan. Ativan is awesome but can be addicting--although I'm not sure how something someone needs is truly addicting: My opinion is that when you want to take it but don't need it, then you're addicted.
Avatar f tn I am convinced that my Celexa is a major culprit in my weight gain. Before Celexa, I was on Zoloft, and the first week on Zoloft I lost weight, but then stabilized and slowly began to gain weight. the weight gain was not a big amount but it did happen. Then a few yrs later, I began having problems on Zoloft so my Doc switched me to Celexa, and "whamo!", BIG WEIGHT GAIN! It was amazing! On top of the weight gain, Celexa has made me lethargic and very tired.
