I took 4 days of prometrium and 2 days after the last dose I got AF.
Prometrium doens't cause m/c actually it prevents it. Many women take prometrium to support pregnancy. Many women have low level of progesterone so they start prometrium.It is safe to take. I started having some brown spotts the day when i had to do the first beta and my RE started me on prometrium and the spotting stopped. If you're having a m/c is not because of prometrium.Check your levels to see if is a good pregnancy.
As some of you remember I posted a question about prometrium last week.
I got some blood work done and this is my update. Tomorrow I will know if I am going to start on Prometrium or with something else.

So he put me on Prometrium 200mg for 12 days. I started it on 5/2 and last night I began spotting. Then today heavy flow (mostly dark brown and kinda gooey) and cramps. I have 3 days left of the Prometrium (after today) and he had said I wouldn't start until 3-7 days after. The whole idea of me taking this is to regulate my cycle (it was either this or birth control for 2 months, but he said since I an TTC to try this first).
my doctor put me on prometrium. 1st month 10 days later i got my period. 2nd month 10 days later i only spotted for a day and no period. Did this happend to anyone? What could it be?
I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..
Prometrium is the same progesterone as that which the ovary makes - so it is 'natural'. It is probably safe to take throughout the first trimester. There are some researchers who believe that there might be a very small increase in the risk of a birth defect in boy babies called hypospadias - with hypospadias the urethral opening is on the underside of the penis rather than at the tip or end.
It is hard to say how your body will react to the Prometrium because every woman is different. But from experiences I have read, Prometrium can tend to cause breakthrough bleeding / spotting but maybe that won't be your case. Would a lower dose of Provera maybe do the trick without such heavy bleeding? Being that you are 58, it would seem you should not have to deal with this for too much longer. Best of luck to you! Has anyone else noticed this? It seems to be working b/c I am not having mid-cycle spotting anymore and my cycles have gone from 24 days to around 32 days.
While taking Prometrium for luteal phase defect, I got several faint positives on home pregnancy tests. But then I began bleeding (light but steady full flow). So I stopped taking the prometrium. I've been bleeding for a few days now--still more than spotting though less than before. But I decided to take another home pregnancy test anyways because something felt funny. Two different brands of test were positive, darker than before but still quite faint. What do I do now?
On 4/14 AF came on time (for the first time might I add) so I figured maybe my cycle will be regular. Well it was from 4/14-4/18 and pretty much consisted of heavy spotting and barely any cramping (unusual for me). Then on 4/26-5/1 - same thing!! So then I went to the OBGYN, after an u/s he believed that I wasn't ovulating. So he put me on Prometrium 200mg for 12 days. I started it on 5/2 and last night I began spotting.
My level recently went from 2025 to 1871 in 2 days. I have had increased spotting and some bleeding in the past week. I had an ultrasound on Spetember 2 which showed 5 week gestational sac, but empty (5 weeks corresponds to date of my LMP). I also have a question about progestrone levels. My progesterone levels fell from 53 to 25 to 16 prior to knowing my HCG levels. Does falling progesterone cause or contribute to falling HCG levels?
First time it happened I was 5 weeks, then put on prometrium to strengthen uterus and the spotting was just one time. Now at 7 weeks just one time. My OB is annoyed with me and can't get another one.
Anyway, I was wondering what your dr said about the prometrium helping you get preggo? I was just wondering what other uses they use prometrium for besides starting periods..
7 weeks 3 days dark brown spotting no cramps. Im moving so I did some lifting yesterday now im afraid. Lost my first to a miscarriage so I'm praying this is nothing. Good Vibes and prayers are welcome. Ultrasound tomorrow! Thanks ladies.
