My level recently went from 2025 to 1871 in 2 days. I have had increased spotting and some bleeding in the past week. I had an ultrasound on Spetember 2 which showed 5 week gestational sac, but empty (5 weeks corresponds to date of my LMP). I also have a question about progestrone levels. My progesterone levels fell from 53 to 25 to 16 prior to knowing my HCG levels. Does falling progesterone cause or contribute to falling HCG levels?
That is why you are always to have a beta hCG blood draw on the 32-33 day of your cycle to see if pregnancy has taken place. When your progesterone is low then you can spot with pregnancy and if you atop it then you will almost idefinetly mc! Also if you miss a dose or do not take it right on time during your luteal phase. Little spotting during the luteal ophase is a good sign that implantation might have taken place if it takes place over just a day and then turnss brown.
Prometrium doens't cause m/c actually it prevents it. Many women take prometrium to support pregnancy. Many women have low level of progesterone so they start prometrium.It is safe to take. I started having some brown spotts the day when i had to do the first beta and my RE started me on prometrium and the spotting stopped. If you're having a m/c is not because of prometrium.Check your levels to see if is a good pregnancy.

I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..
My progesterone dropped during my 4th week of pregnancy and the doctor prescribed prometrium. I am currently experiencing brief but horrible cramping accompanied with some minor bleeding. I've read the prescription information pamphlet over and over, and that is apparently a side effect. But with my history...I just need to know if anyone else experienced the same while taking Prometrium but still was able to have a healthy baby.
I took another one the next morning and it said not pregnant so I went to the doctors that day and they confirmed a pregnancy. That Wednesday I had slight spotting and went to the E.R. to find out what was going on. My HCG level was only like 28. I have not seen anymore spotting since that day but my HCG level is just slowly going up and my Progesterone level was low as well. It was only like 7.91 at 5 weeks (7/01/08) and my doc. put me on progesterone tablets (100mg twice daily).
So he put me on Prometrium 200mg for 12 days. I started it on 5/2 and last night I began spotting. Then today heavy flow (mostly dark brown and kinda gooey) and cramps. I have 3 days left of the Prometrium (after today) and he had said I wouldn't start until 3-7 days after. The whole idea of me taking this is to regulate my cycle (it was either this or birth control for 2 months, but he said since I an TTC to try this first).
While taking Prometrium for luteal phase defect, I got several faint positives on home pregnancy tests. But then I began bleeding (light but steady full flow). So I stopped taking the prometrium. I've been bleeding for a few days now--still more than spotting though less than before. But I decided to take another home pregnancy test anyways because something felt funny. Two different brands of test were positive, darker than before but still quite faint. What do I do now?
I was on prometrium with my last pregnancy, and although the pregnancy didn't work out, it had nothing to do with prometrium. There are so many women on here who took it during pregnancy to have all turn out just fine. Its a pretty common thing to give us "older" expecting moms. I already have a prescription for it as I am to start taking it again as soon as I get another positve pregnancy test. As far as I know its perfectly safe to take during pregnancy.
First time it happened I was 5 weeks, then put on prometrium to strengthen uterus and the spotting was just one time. Now at 7 weeks just one time. My OB is annoyed with me and can't get another one.
