I would have asked my doc these questions but I thought that it was the same a plain progesterone which I have taken before. Also for the Poll If you took prometrium and it helped you conceive did you get a boy or a girl!! We are using shettles method to sway for a boy. We have 2 girls. I know that the meds are not supposed to influence the gender but some can - for instance clomid makes a womans vaginal secretions more acidic which produces more girls.

My dr. doesnt know though I am taking it vag. I read the same pill is used either way and vag it works better. The pharmacist said the same thing. What should I do? I go for my levels again Monday. I started spotting Tuesday evening and started taking it orally Monday night. However, I switched to vaginally Tuesday night and haven't had any spotting. Whats everyone's opinion?

I used crinone for my IVF, and I had no issues with it...except for some watery discharge and a little buildup. Just make sure you use a finger and gently remove any buildup every 3 days or so. That will also help with the absorption.

I have been reading about everyone with their injectables and other drugs, trigger shots, etc. What do you take them for and what is the first injectable? I feel like I haven't been tested, how do they know I don't need any. Is that something they eventually start trying on you? The doctor prescribed prometrium for her. She is scared to death to take the medication because it has a strong warning on the label "DO NOT TAKE IF PREGNANT OR ANTICIPATE GETTING PREGNANT. Why would the doctor prescribe prometrium if the twin is OK at this time?

I prescribe it for 5 days. If the woman is not pregnant, it will bring on the period. If she is, nothing happens at all ( in fact some people use it to prevent miscarriage). Ask your doctor his/her opinion. Good luck!

I think what you're talking about is Prometrium. It's more or less Progesterone and is used in women who have a history of miscarriages and can help if you're trying to conceive. There's more uses, but this is the main one I know of.

My Dr has prescribed Prometrium 200mgs to be taken for the 1st 5 days of my next period. Everything I have read about this is that it is usually prescribed for 10 days before your period, so I am confused. Also, he mentioned that Prometrium will help protect me from endometrial cancer and possibly breast cancer. I read that it may increase the risk of breast cancer so I am totally confused. The prometrium is for low progesterone. It does not increase your HCG. As a rule, doctors like to see your Progesterone level above 20, mine was 13. If you were given prometrium I would suspect your progesterone is also low. provera is usuallly the standard for treating amenorrhea. although duphaston is much the same I do believe that duphaston has been discontinued but iam not positive. Either way please do not take this without a doc's RX and is not to be used as the abortion pill. Taking these meds will bring on a menstrual cycle but this can be very painful and come wiith heavy bleeding.

m wondering though if provera is essentially the same as Prometrium? I know Prometrium is more of a natural progesterone and Provera is synthetic, but I have already done 10 days of prometrium and no period came. Ugh...so frustrating! I've been taking prometrium vaginally twice daily for 13 days now (started the day after my IUI) and on day 10, I started noticing a headache, a dull gnawing sensation on both sides of my head.
