I would have asked my doc these questions but I thought that it was the same a plain progesterone which I have taken before. Also for the Poll If you took prometrium and it helped you conceive did you get a boy or a girl!! We are using shettles method to sway for a boy. We have 2 girls. I know that the meds are not supposed to influence the gender but some can - for instance clomid makes a womans vaginal secretions more acidic which produces more girls.

I've been doing some research on prometrium . I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes.

The doctor prescribed prometrium for her. She is scared to death to take the medication because it has a strong warning on the label "DO NOT TAKE IF PREGNANT OR ANTICIPATE GETTING PREGNANT. Why would the doctor prescribe prometrium if the twin is OK at this time?

I was just perscribed Prometrium for this cycle as well. Like you, I hope to have a positive result. I was prescribed Prometrium to help thicken/sustain my uterine lining as it was <7. Hope this is your month. Keep us posted.

Is anyone here on Prometrium now or used it in the past? I have had 6 miscarriages in the past, most recent one was twins Christmas Day. I just got a BFP Saturday night and went and had my 1st Beta drawn this morning as well as my progesterone level. Well we are expecting horrible weather, ice and up to 20 inches of snow, so my OB's office decided to close at 2:30 this afternoon and for will be closed tomorrow, possible the rest of the week.

My dr. just put me on Prometrium 200mg at bedtime with hope to get my period. Has anyone taken this for similar reason and what was your outcome? We are trying to get pregnant.

I have been on it for 6 days. Thought I was tolerating it ok but was definitely feeling stronger emotions than before. Now I feel awful. Always tired, bloated, and depressed.

Prometrium is the same progesterone as that which the ovary makes - so it is 'natural'. It is probably safe to take throughout the first trimester. There are some researchers who believe that there might be a very small increase in the risk of a birth defect in boy babies called hypospadias - with hypospadias the urethral opening is on the underside of the penis rather than at the tip or end.

Rare cases of congenital anomalities including cleft palate, cleft lip, ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, and congenital heart defects have been reported in the infants of woman using Prometrium for unapproved indications including the preventions of such outcomes. Studies in humans cannot rule out the possibility of harm. Therefore, Prometrium capsules should be used during pregnancy only if indicated.

I think what you're talking about is Prometrium. It's more or less Progesterone and is used in women who have a history of miscarriages and can help if you're trying to conceive. There's more uses, but this is the main one I know of.

My Dr has prescribed Prometrium 200mgs to be taken for the 1st 5 days of my next period. Everything I have read about this is that it is usually prescribed for 10 days before your period, so I am confused. Also, he mentioned that Prometrium will help protect me from endometrial cancer and possibly breast cancer. I read that it may increase the risk of breast cancer so I am totally confused. Can someone help and offer advice? I am going for a 2nd opinion in December with another Ob/Gyn.

My cycle is nowhere to be seen (not totally uncommon for me) and my last period was in mid-December. My OB was fine with giving me an Rx for BC pills to induce a bleed, but when I called the RE's office, she said that I shouldn't start them and that we will talk about an alternate route at the appt. Now I'm just curious what types of drugs they would put me on? Are there stronger injectibles to induce a period?

Prometrium should only be used in the first trimester, if your levels are low. For many years women have used progesterone in the first trimester to sustain their pregnancy. For myself mine was at a 15, they like them to be above 20. At 45, I believe that is a very good range for pregnancy and most likely do not need them. Do not take it throughout your entire pregnancy, at that point the risks are unknown.

The doctor told me to come back in at 9 weeks for another U/S to make sure the heartbeat was where it needed to be. Well sadly there was no heartbeat found at this u/s. We were devistated and mostly angry that this has happened to us. Its been four weeks since the d&c proceedure and yesterday was my first OB appointment since. She took the tissue from the d&c to have chromosmal testing done on it to make sure the baby was healthy.

Lots and lots of women are using it through the first trimester. As for when to start taking them, it depends on what it is used for. Some women take it every cycle after ovulation if their levels are too low to sustain a possible pregnancy...or to extend a luteal phase defect. Others start it once they get a positive pregnancy test...usually as a precaution.

Everything is going great. I am on baby aspirin a day and 200mg 2x prometrium. its working for me! progesterone does an amazing job at holding pregnancies, and the baby asprin is to thin you blood so more goes to the uterus. This can also help if you have a blood clotting issue. i have never been tested for anything but i wanted to try 1 more time first with these medicines and i believe its really helping me.

I took 100mg for one cycle (BFN) and the dr upped it to 200mg - on the third cycle - I got pregnant. I took it before I went to bed b/c of the side effects until I was in my 13th week. I'm now 30 weeks - I'd say, 'what could it hurt'?! I had two miscarriages and they ran a bunch of tests and found I have a blood clotting issue. So when we started TTC again I was told to take baby aspirin and prometrium.

So I have now been on Prometrium (orally, 300mg a day) for about a week. I have looked it up on the web, and all the sites related to it say to take it before you are pregnant, but not to take while you are pregnant. I am completely confused. My OB prescribed it knowing absolutely I was pregnant, and has me on it up until the end of the first trimester. Also, it seems the symptoms mimic pregnancy symptoms. Has anybody had a negative outcome using this drug?

I take prometrium for 10 days Iinto the 2nd day I have headaches ,,this morning I took them 400 mg I was like a druggie or drunk I couldnt funtion I didnt know what my computer was ,, my daughter thought I was drinking ..I dont drink lol .. why is this happening to me , my second month on them ,, headaches last time but not the slurring or confusion ..I had a choice to take 1 each day for 30 days or 2 for 10 ..
