My progesterone dropped during my 4th week of pregnancy and the doctor prescribed prometrium. I am currently experiencing brief but horrible cramping accompanied with some minor bleeding. I've read the prescription information pamphlet over and over, and that is apparently a side effect. But with my history...I just need to know if anyone else experienced the same while taking Prometrium but still was able to have a healthy baby.

Yes lot of women with progesterone take prometrium during pregnancy! I myself took progesterone injections but its about the same thing. Ive read lots of posts where people were taking glucophage also and it seems to be helpful.

On the other hand, progesterone is used during pregnancy to prevent premature labor quite extensively. I personally do not believe the hypospadias association - of course there is always a small risk of this, but in my many years in practice using progesterone extensively I have not seen it.

t work out, it had nothing to do with prometrium. There are so many women on here who took it during pregnancy to have all turn out just fine. Its a pretty common thing to give us "older" expecting moms. I already have a prescription for it as I am to start taking it again as soon as I get another positve pregnancy test. As far as I know its perfectly safe to take during pregnancy. Also, congrats on being through your first trimester!

HELP! This is my second pregnancy. My first daughter was born premature at 32w 6 days. My membranes ruptured (no cause was determined) and my daughter is now 4 and in great health. My doctor prescribed PROMETRIUM, 2 capsules to be taken intra-vaginaly, every day from week 18 to 32. I know Prometrium is primarily prescribed to women having trouble convceiving or having repeated mc.

Does anyone know anything about prometrium, the placenta, luteal phase defect, heart palpitations during pregnancy, and fetal risk associated with Progesterone supplementation during pregnancy? I need all the info I can get.

i dont know why it would say that on the bottle/box. It is used to sustain pregnancy when a doctor believes that a patients progesterone is low. Used to prevent miscarriage. Google it!

I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..

If you have a problem with taking meds in pill form you should also have your dr put a note in your chart so if you need any other meds during the pregnancy the dr will remember to have it in a liquid.

I had blood work done and found I have no HCG levels and progesterone levels were below 10. I am really hoping for an AF visit but I was wondering has anyone used Prometrium to get pregnant? I was thinking if it is for increasing your progesterone level during pregnancy and it can also be used to help you ovulate. Can you get pregnant by being on Prometrium?

Did you have sex or an internal exam/internal ultrasound recently? These can cause spotting throughout your pregnancy because your cervix is more delicate, some women also spot throughout their whole pregnancy and have healthy babies. You really have to just wait and see. It's a good sign your HCG levels are going up and not down too!

Hi I was wondering if any one took prometrium during their first trimester of their pregnancy? If yes, what were the side affects? Is anyone here on Prometrium now or used it in the past? I have had 6 miscarriages in the past, most recent one was twins Christmas Day. I just got a BFP Saturday night and went and had my 1st Beta drawn this morning as well as my progesterone level. Well we are expecting horrible weather, ice and up to 20 inches of snow, so my OB's office decided to close at 2:30 this afternoon and for will be closed tomorrow, possible the rest of the week.

When I put patients on prometrium, I recommend a pregnancy test on day 32 or 33, and if the test is negative I suggest stopping the prometrium since the long periods can be a bit misleading.

my doctor put me on prometrium. 1st month 10 days later i got my period. 2nd month 10 days later i only spotted for a day and no period. Did this happend to anyone? What could it be?

Can anybody advise, do I need to have my levels checked prior to pregnancy as well as during? Can they tell if your levels are lower than they should be before pregnancy? Also, where do I go to have this check done? Is it something I can do through my regular GP or pay through private healthcare? from what my re and ob told me it is ok to have sex during pregnancy. also u might want to talk to your dr about prometrium (sp) it is suppose to help with making it easier for baby to latch and hold on. I have had 3-4 mc. i was on it for 1 of them. Gl.

I was on crinone (vaginal) and prometrium during my first pregnancy (IVF), and on prometrium only the second time around (natural pregnancy). Best wishes for the remainder of your pregnancy!

Your progesterone is low but good thing is that your DOC has prescribed a support supplement. The prescribed prometrium 100mg 3 x/ day will aid in supporting the pregnancy, especially during the first trimester. Try not to worry; I'm sure you will be fine.

I was just perscribed Prometrium for this cycle as well. Like you, I hope to have a positive result. I was prescribed Prometrium to help thicken/sustain my uterine lining as it was <7. Hope this is your month. Keep us posted.
