Prometrium doens't cause m/c actually it prevents it. Many women take prometrium to support pregnancy. Many women have low level of progesterone so they start prometrium.It is safe to take. I started having some brown spotts the day when i had to do the first beta and my RE started me on prometrium and the spotting stopped. If you're having a m/c is not because of prometrium.Check your levels to see if is a good pregnancy.
I got some blood work done and this is my update. Tomorrow I will know if I am going to start on Prometrium or with something else.

My level recently went from 2025 to 1871 in 2 days. I have had increased spotting and some bleeding in the past week. I had an ultrasound on Spetember 2 which showed 5 week gestational sac, but empty (5 weeks corresponds to date of my LMP). I also have a question about progestrone levels. My progesterone levels fell from 53 to 25 to 16 prior to knowing my HCG levels. Does falling progesterone cause or contribute to falling HCG levels?

So he put me on Prometrium 200mg for 12 days. I started it on 5/2 and last night I began spotting. Then today heavy flow (mostly dark brown and kinda gooey) and cramps. I have 3 days left of the Prometrium (after today) and he had said I wouldn't start until 3-7 days after. The whole idea of me taking this is to regulate my cycle (it was either this or birth control for 2 months, but he said since I an TTC to try this first).
I've had dark brown spotting and even some brighter red with all three of my kids from about 6 weeks to 8 weeks. I'm 5 weeks with my fourth right now so I'm expecting to have some spotting start next week. It is really nerve racking to spot but it doesn't always mean you're miscarrying. Prayers for you!
I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..
My family doc gave me a prescription for Prometrium (200 mgs) because I was terrified of taking the Provera again due to side effects and heavy bleeding. Any information on how one feels while taking Prometrium (vs Provera) and whether it works to bring on a flow but, not a flood? I'm confused and cannot get my OBGYN by phone or even and appointment to talk to her. Any help would be much appreciated.
Apparently it is very common around 6 weeks due to further implantation. Many people have spotting and go onto having a healthy baby. I have had 2 miscarriages previously so i understand how hard it is to relax. While I was spotting I had an ultrasound and they found a heartbeat. Spotting has stopped completely since. My fingers are crossed for you!!!
I am on day 22 of cycle. I took clomid 50mg at beginning and have been on prometrium by mouth since day 14. I have been feeling strange today and noticed a little bloody tissue in the bath tub. I am have low back pain and some cramping. I felt ovulation pain on day 14 but the opk did not give me a positive until day 16. Does this sound like I am pregnant?
While taking Prometrium for luteal phase defect, I got several faint positives on home pregnancy tests. But then I began bleeding (light but steady full flow). So I stopped taking the prometrium. I've been bleeding for a few days now--still more than spotting though less than before. But I decided to take another home pregnancy test anyways because something felt funny. Two different brands of test were positive, darker than before but still quite faint. What do I do now?
On 4/14 AF came on time (for the first time might I add) so I figured maybe my cycle will be regular. Well it was from 4/14-4/18 and pretty much consisted of heavy spotting and barely any cramping (unusual for me). Then on 4/26-5/1 - same thing!! So then I went to the OBGYN, after an u/s he believed that I wasn't ovulating. So he put me on Prometrium 200mg for 12 days. I started it on 5/2 and last night I began spotting.
First time it happened I was 5 weeks, then put on prometrium to strengthen uterus and the spotting was just one time. Now at 7 weeks just one time. My OB is annoyed with me and can't get another one.
I was prescribed prometrium and this is my second month. This month I used an ovulator kit and BD on the right days and took prometrium as soon as I ovulated, so why am I not pregnant. I have all the symptoms; but this can also be prometrium side effects. I really do not believe that I am pregnant because I have not experienced any spotting. I am SO frustrated. Has anyone gone through the same experience?
