Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium ovarian cysts

prometrium

Avatar f tn Does anyone get radiating pain from ovarian cyst. I had pain wher my ovary was and it also radiated up higher. I thought something was wrong with me but had a ct scan and all they found was a 4.5cm x 4.5cm cyst on ovary. The doctor says pain radiates. Who else gets pain in other areas around the ovaries. I keep freaking out.
Avatar f tn After the past 4 times that my husband and I have had sex I have been experiencing pain and bloating in my abdomen...one time it lasted through the next day. I read that this could be a sign of ovarian cysts.. I also read that it could be air getting trapped in...has anyone ever experienced this? It's starting to scare me...thanks...
566175 tn?1278430472 Dr suggested that I cancel this months attempt to conceive, and start taking prometrium, today, to stop these follies from growing any further. It's my choice, and i hate to waste this cycle. The dr. says i should understand the risks: A. They are concerned that i might get OHSS (ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome) and they tell me this could be deadly if i proceed. B. Multiples are a big possibility We have borderline swimmer issues anyway so it probably wouldn't even matter.
Avatar f tn I do not have periods without taking progesterone. I can go many many months without a period without the progesterone. I am on cycle one of 50 mg of clomid (5-9) now. I have been using OPKs and they have not shown a LH surge but I think I have noticed changes in my cervical mucus. Could I have ovulated and it just didn't show on the OPK? I was also cramping something fierce on day 16. Is this common on clomid?
Avatar f tn m not really familiar with what is normal when going through premature ovarian failure; but in general, normal levels are between 3 and 20, with 20 being very hard to stimulate. If I were you, I would ask your doctor for a referral to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist...or fertility specialist). They're experts in the field and should be able to run a few more test to see what's going on.
1298207 tn?1331677531 t need any more male hormones. Also if you have a lot of cysts ovarian drilling is a good option I had it done in december of 2009 with phenomenal results. good luck hun i hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I have my blood test on Monday. I am still taking Prometrium suppositories. Do you know if Prometrium will delay a period? I was gonna call my dr today but I feel like a nag!
329994 tn?1301663248 I read the posts on here because I have all the symptoms of ovarian cancer and I am trying to get my doctor to do some checking on it. To make a long story short, I have had vaginal ultrasounds that show cysts and a mass behind my uterus that they think is a fibroid. He currently has me on a 10 day progesterone regimen. I have taken that progesterone and it is 13 days later and I have not bled yet. He apparently wants me to do that again next month anyway.
256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar f tn I wasn’t really given much light on what a ruptured ovarian cysts meant. But bloods were done and cancer/tumor markers have since been ruled out. I was put on birth control because aapoarently the hormonal properties in them will shrink the cyst. All good and well, but will this stop the bleeding? She called me in the very next day to take a scab because there were signs of irregular cells in my cervix. These results I will only get back next year as the doctor is now on vacation.
Avatar n tn Fibroids can cause your cycles to be messed up, as well as adnormal bleeding and cramping. Your situation was what I was going through (bleeding one week on, one week off, one week on) and the OBGYN did an u/s, found small cysts on my ovaries and 2 fibroids on my uterus. He also believed I wasn't ovulating, which is why I was bleeding more than normal. He put me on Prometrium (progesterone supplment), I started bmy period AND ovulated on time.
3100626 tn?1341387176 A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Ovarian-Cysts/ovarian-fibriods-and-unable-to-take-any-meds/show/1812473">ovarian fibriods and unable to take any meds</a> was started.
1310773 tn?1317095445 I ovulate on my own already, but I have a lot of premenstrual spotting so my doc gave me clone and prometrium, I just started the prometrium yesterday so fingers crossed it helps. What does painful ovulation mean? Has anyone gone through it? I was a bit worried that it may have been a cyst... But I don't know if because I ovulate regulate normally I ovulated multiple eggs.... I was on 50mg clomid and am on 400mg prometrium.
Avatar f tn HI, Even though you may not want any more children, you are too young for a hysterectomy. The bleeding can be stopped with help of haemostatic medicines and with use of hormones like progestins. Also a D&C may sometimes be necessary to stop the bleeding. The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.
Avatar n tn I think possibliy you mean ovarian cysts instead of ovarian fibriods as fibriods are assoicated with the Uterus and ovarian cysts are associated with the ovaries.
Avatar n tn Interestingly I also have liver cysts - called simple cysts. There may be no connection of course. But I have read somewhere that ovarian cysts can be connected to PPIs. I also have gastro polyps as a result of long term use of PPIs. To avoid the polyps you might want to consider getting off PPIs once you have the acid reflux under control - and then seriously change your diet to make sure you don't get reflux again (less animal fats, sugars, acid food etc.).
Avatar f tn I had 5 lg ovarian cysts that my dr. (OBGYN fertility) wanted to surgically remove from my uterus. I had a friend tell me about CASTER OIL as a remedy for naturally removing the cysts by using "cold pressed caster oil compresses". I tried this and it worked !!!- it actually removed all 5 of my cysts!! Now my doctor is upset with me. Saying it's not safe. Really and surgery is?? People have use caster oil since Before Christ. Why is this not safe?
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are extremely common - so do not worry. However, they can also be extremely painful and can grow extremely large. Each month, when a woman ovulates, small follicles form on the outer part of the ovary. These follicles look like little marbles almost through an ultrasound. Now, during your period - these follicles are, keyword here 'supposed' to break free with the lining of your period but for some women, they do not.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are common and almost always benign especially if you do not have a family history of ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, far too many women lose an ovary or ovaries for benign ovarian cysts causing permanent health problems and reduced quality of life. This link is helpful - http://ovaryresearch.com/ovarian_cysts.htm. Some radiology sites are helpful in explaining the traits of various types of cysts.
621010 tn?1221508226 I go to to my GI and he tells me that I need to go to a gyn-oncologist, because I have ovarian cysts. I had a transvaginal ultrasound today, and the tech, said it looked like grapes. That scares me. I am wondering if that is a normal sounding cyst?
Avatar f tn When the follicles are forming small cysts may be present in the normal ovary. These ovarian cysts which start during the normal function of menstrual cycle are called functional cysts which are of two types follicular cyst and corpus luteal cyst. Most of these cysts are harmless and disappear over a period of time. They are usually asymptomatic. In few patients cysts may cause menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain. In such cases medical help should be sought.
564029 tn?1216423219 There are different types of cysts, you can go to the link on the top of this page on the right that says health forum, and there is a list for all types of ovarian cysts. Did your dr. tell you what kind of cyst you have? Have you had a TV/US? During your reproductive years it is very common to get functional ovarian cysts that can disappear after a few menstrual cycles. Could it be your doctor is doing a watchful waiting to see if they go away? How long have you had the cyst?
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can cause ovarian enlargement and the majority of ovarian cysts are benign. Did you have a scan to determine if you have visible cysts? Most cysts go away on their own. If this persists for you, you may want to talk to you doctor about the possibility of your having an underlying condition like PCOS or endometriosis. But, even with these conditions, the majority of women are still able to conceive.
Avatar n tn D and C or ablation is done for heavy periods resulting from endometrial hyperplasia and not for ovarian cysts. If you want to go the natural way then you can wait for a spontaneous regression of the ovarian cyst. This will require follow up with frequent ultrasound scans. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
