Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium infertility treatment

prometrium

514684 tn?1211462108 I'm new to this site, such a wealth of information. We've been really trying on and off for 5 years now. I stopped having periods and don't ovulate on a regular basis. My OBGYN says she thinks I have POF but not sure because of underlined issues with my thyroid. Only time I do have a period is if I'm on birth control. Although I get the good ol cramps/PMS like clockwork but nothing happens.
Avatar f tn Crinone 8% is preferred by women In several clinical studies, women undergoing infertility treatment consistently preferred Crinone 8% over progesterone capsules administered vaginally, progesterone vaginal suppositories, and progesterone intramuscular injections.
513660 tn?1217171919 I am 31 and husband and I have unexplained infertility. I have mild endo and have had 6 failied IUI (3 with injections/3 without) and just underwent my first failed IVF/ICSI procedure. I just had Factor V immune testing done and so far (not all results are back) I have a boderline elevated level for anticardiolipin (level 11). I was told I can start aspirin therapy for this, but since level is not high it might not be reason for infertility. Anyone have similar case? Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn The doc said that during the clomid monitoring my lining looked good. My day 21 progesterone before the infertility treatment was 3.3. My day 3 FSH was a 10. I just want to know what to bring up for my appt. on Friday. Sorry if I sound like a big worry wort. I just waited so long for this to happen and am in shock that it is.
1007532 tn?1332767926 thanks all for your coments and advice. my doc gave me Prometrium to have a period and a low dose birth control to help regulate it .. I now have a period so we shall see what happens next month!!! Have a great day !!!
Avatar f tn I hate my ovaries and I am so over this infertility game. 2 yrs is starting to make me a little frustrated to say the least. Anyway- the nurse sounded like she just wanted to get off the phone as quickly as possible. So I left a message with the PA. I think the dr owes me a call considering I already signed IVF consents and paid 12,000 dollars- but who am I to say? Well- good luck to everyone who is actually "allowed" to try treatment.
864502 tn?1382640699 re not alone with this and I hope others will answer your question, having gone through it. I know that there are infertility forums around on the net as well that you may want to look into. Ask your doc about a fertility specialist. With the right hormonal preparation, if you are of child bearing age still, there's always a lot of hope!
Avatar m tn What are the chances that I will be able to conceive a healthy child? What tests should I be doing and is there any treatment. This experience is very depressing.
1277416 tn?1289788441 I'm sorry I can't help! I do not know what prochieve is.....is it similar to progesterone supplements such as prometrium? I've had slight cramps on an off until this week. MD said it is very normal and many of my friends also had slight cramping throughout pregnancy! Good Luck with the prochieve! I hope it helps bring you your little miracle!!
Avatar n tn The outcome of all our tests before we started infertility treatment were good and no one is able to pinpoint at the reason for infertility. Is the doctor doing the right thing? Is there something we can try from our end? What are your thoughts and suggestions. Thank you. - Michelle.

Avatar f tn I am loving this site, it is like medical facebook, LOL. So, is this your first go around with infertility? Where are you at with your treatment? I took my first clomid yesterday (sun), today went in for blood work and next monday go in for an ult, so my life is getting busy! I guess this is Gods way of preparing us for children! Miscarriages.....well.....I was going to a provider in Florida who was my regular gyn, loved him!
Avatar f tn I stopped the Prometrium for 10 days and MY BLEEDING STOPPED ENTIRELY so it has to be the Prometrium. I know I need progesterone as still have my uterus but am I the only one that is seeing this happen? I was told by Sott Pelle providers that a women minimally needs progesterone 14 days every third month. Can someone tell me their experience with this?
Avatar f tn Just to comment about the prometrium it is great however please don't get the wrong idea. If you are going to miscarry you will and prometrium won't always work. I'm on 100mg prometrium 2x's day, additional folic acid, prenatal, 80mg baby asprin. I'm currently going through my 8th m/c with no live births. My last blood work showed my progesterone level at 59 and my beta 430. I was 4wks 5 days.
Avatar f tn If there is some problem can I concevie by takeing treatment like ivf .What are my chances if I will continue my treatment till I get result like more than 6 to 7 cycle of ivf?plz reply soon. Thanks in advance.
5697572 tn?1372753114 The various treatment options are use of antibiotics if there is any infection. Hormone replacement or medications may be prescribed to change hormone levels. In few cases assisted reproductive technologies may be helpful. Protein in urine can be seen in any kidney disease, diabetes mellitus, fever; heart disease etc.It should not affect the fertility of any woman. A clinical examination and seeking the opinion of your attending doctor will be helpful.
359142 tn?1321120923 Just got a call back from the Dr. They OK'd prometrium suppositories given my history of early m/c. I go back in tomorrow AM and Friday AM for follow-up hcg checks.
359142 tn?1321120923 the doc called back and said that he'd go ahead and recommend the prometrium suppoisitories since I've had 2 early m/c before. I'm glad. I'll keep u guys updated with numbers from tomorrow and friday. Good luck to everyone.
Avatar f tn The pattern was the same in all three case, lower progesterone levels. After the first miscarriage , I was asked to take baby aspirin and prometrium with the subsequent pregnancy. I anyway miscarried. I was referred to a reproductive endocrinologist. He checked for genetic disorders in both me and my husband. He did the clomid challenge test , checked for abnormalities in the uterine wall , checked thyroid level , blood sugar. Everything came back normal.
211043 tn?1337050701 I know, I know - I need to put the tests down and back away slowly. But it took 3 years to conceive our first daughter, and we've been trying for our second for 20 months. I've had 5 miscarriages, and after all that...yes, I continue to test. My insurance is F'd right now and they won't pay for anymore blood tests so I can't get betas.
Avatar n tn Congratulations!!! And nope, your not crazy, just going through the normal "fears" just about everyone does who has struggled with infertility or miscarriage. I know I take prometrium and will throughout the entire first trimester. I asked about just stopping meds, especially after a history of loss. It was sort of complicated, but the general gist of it was that by that time the placenta and normal body hormones are strong enough to sustain it.
Avatar n tn At any rate, of course it is possible that you may get pregnant. However, if you have been having infertility treatment for two years and are still not pregnant, I wonder if you should not consider more aggressive treatment than just a fertility pill with inseminations, particularly if you have regular periods without fertility medication, and particularly if you have used fertility pills in the past.
Avatar f tn I having my period after 2 months of treatment of cabergoline very heavy bledding and large blood clod for five days .Its that normal? I have miss period on the past with negative results of blood pregnancy test..
