Hey girls ~ was told yesterday that having Prometrium prescribed as a suppository was ludicrous ~ that Crinone Gel is mega better and sticks as opposed to the Prometrium which just drips out "because it was made to be taken orally ~ not vaginally ~ and anyone who suggests it is just playing with being a Fertilization Specialist"....
Just to comment about the prometrium it is great however please don't get the wrong idea. If you are going to miscarry you will and prometrium won't always work. I'm on 100mg prometrium 2x's day, additional folic acid, prenatal, 80mg baby asprin. I'm currently going through my 8th m/c with no live births. My last blood work showed my progesterone level at 59 and my beta 430. I was 4wks 5 days.
Congratulations!!! And nope, your not crazy, just going through the normal "fears" just about everyone does who has struggled with infertility or miscarriage. I know I take prometrium and will throughout the entire first trimester. I asked about just stopping meds, especially after a history of loss. It was sort of complicated, but the general gist of it was that by that time the placenta and normal body hormones are strong enough to sustain it.
Hi.. no I haven't gotten my tubes checked.. I've taken prometrium to induce my period several times but not consistently... they did take blood in Feb. but I do not know the results of that...you mention metformin but I don't know if I have any other symptoms of pcos other than cysts on ovaries...
I've been doing some research on prometrium . I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes.
I am loving this site, it is like medical facebook, LOL. So, is this your first go around with infertility? Where are you at with your treatment? I took my first clomid yesterday (sun), today went in for blood work and next monday go in for an ult, so my life is getting busy! I guess this is Gods way of preparing us for children!
Miscarriages.....well.....I was going to a provider in Florida who was my regular gyn, loved him!
I was diagnosed with endometriosis during a laparoscopy to remove a uterine polyp and endometriomas thought to be causing infertility. My RE believes that I've had it for about 10 years or so (I'm 36, with no previous symptoms). We've been trying for almost 2 yrs, and I've done 3-IUI's--the last one on injections, with no success. Am I wasting my time and money on these treatments? Is there anyone out there who has has a successful pregnancy with endo?
I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..
I am supposed to stop my prometrium when I'm 10w which is this thursday, but I have read that some people have miscarried because ur body is not making enough progesterone of its own. I been trying to get preggo for almost 4 yrs and to miscarried now would be devestating. I have also heard that if ur preggo with twins which I am its good to keep taking the prometrium to minimize the chances of premature labor.
We have been trying to conceive for almost two years. We tried six months on clomid without success. We than did one round of IUI. The medications used were GonalF (150 iu I think) and than 1 hcg trigger shot. I was asked to take prometrium for a few days. The first IUI cycle wasn't successful. After 1 month's break, our RE asked us to start birth control pills before going for the IVF cycle. After a month we got a ton of medicines including Gonal F, Menopur, hcg trigger shot etc.
I got mine the next day, as soon as I stopped prometrium I started spotting and the next day I got my AF.
