prometrium bbt

My OB/GYN gave me Progesterone (prometrium 100mg per day) to take after ovulation. I have been doing this for several months now. I recently started seeing a RE and when I told him I start the prog either 1dpo or 2 dpo, he freaked out telling me that I should not start them until 4dpo because talking starting it any earlier than 4dpo would cause me not to ovulate properly. I always start prog after I get a +opk one day and a temp increase the next day (which I count as o day).

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. Do you know if you are ovulating? I know in the past I had weird periods when I wasn't ovulating. The doctor ended up prescribing prometrium, and I got pregnant the next month. I don't know if this helps, but good luck and feel free to post anytime. The ladies in here are great!!!

Right now I am CD45 and just put on Prometrium. I had blood work done and found I have no HCG levels and progesterone levels were below 10. I am really hoping for an AF visit but I was wondering has anyone used Prometrium to get pregnant? I was thinking if it is for increasing your progesterone level during pregnancy and it can also be used to help you ovulate. Can you get pregnant by being on Prometrium?

Your progesterone does go up during your tww which is why your BBT goes up after O. I am not sure if progesterone affects you emotionally. Lots of ladies say that clomid drives their emotions. Are you taking clomid this cycle?

i have absent periods, i take prometrium to have a period then start clomid. this is my fourth round.

iam taking clomid 50mg from 3rd day to 7th day of my cycle and from 22nd day of my cycle to 28th day iam on prometrium...my doctor asked me do pegency test on 29th day and if it is negitive she want me to stop prometrium and wait for my periods...this is what ihave done for last 2 cycles and i doing the same thing for my 3rd cycle also.......iam taking this treatment without undergoing HSG test...will there be any problem and i feel that iam not ovulating cause iam taking my BBT...evry month....

has anyone out there taken progesterone suppositories and noticed very high (pregnancy-like) BBT even when not pregnant? Also, they say to take the test "when you would expect your period"- well, I expect my period 9 days after I ovulate. I assume I really do need to wait 14 days to get an accurate pregnancy test? Today is day 11... I'm also assuming that the progesterone would stop me from having my period, even if I'm not pregnant, right...?

t ovulate your Dr. will up your dosage and maybe give you Prometrium or some other drug to induce your AF. I’m actually surprise he didn’t induce you before you started your first dosage of Clomid. Now you can also take Clomid on different CD for instance I take my on cd3-7 some do cd5-9. Just follow your dr. orders and if you have any questions call your dr. or ask us we can try to help you as best as we can. BTW are you doing anything tests to check your ovulation: BBT, OPK, CM...?

I was told to take my progesterone supplement - prometrium 200mg orally - from when I ovulated until I got my period or was 12 weeks pregnant. Are you charting your BBT to tell when you ovulate? I'd double check with your office on when to start and make sure to get specifics. For a 'regular' or 'normal' cycle you would ovulate on CD 14 or so - starting on CD 15 would fall in line with that. But if you don't ovulate until CD 16 or so - get clarification. Good luck!

Hi everyone.. I am 25 and i have been ttc for almost two years, this is my second month on clomid (100mg) i have not ovulated. I also don't know my cycle length b/c i don't have periods without prometrium. so i quess my cycle length to be anywhere from 40 to 45 days. i chart my bbt and take opk's (all neg). my doctor has only done bloodwork once.(normal labs).. i'm concerned because everyone else appears to get bloodwork monthly, do i need a new doctor?

Maybe I will ask him to add prometrium in addition to crinone. Originally he had prescribed only prometrium but it was a vaginal suppository. I did not know you can get those in pills, maybe I should ask for that ita17 - Thank you for sharing, I am glad it is working. As I had a failed IVF, I am trying to analyze every aspect so that I have a success next time.

i forgot to put that in sorry. I finished my ten day dosage of prometrium six days ago, i'm waiting for af to arrive. I have had to take it every cycle, i took three rounds of clomid (50,100,150mg) before i was diagnosed with pcos (normal bloodwork and weight). So far i have not ovulated with any of my cycles. Of course i convinced myself that maybe i missed the signs of ovulation, so i tested this morning BFN.

Latest update: today is my 18DPO. AF should come today. My BBT is still up 98+. i haven't feel any cramp for AF. my bbs tender and fuller. could be a sign for AF, but whose knows. I am still waiting by the end of today. My dr told me take prometrium after 3 DPO for 15 days. Yesterday was my 15 days of prometrium. Do you think i should continue taking this medicine since i do not have AF yet? Anyway, will update with you all later. Thanks for your prayer.

I am on my first round of clomid and have been temping to help determine when I ovulate. I took 50mg of clomid on days 3-7 of my cycle (induced by prometrium) . On day 7 my temperature went from about 97.3 in the days prior to 97.8, then up to 98.2, and 98.1 today. Is it possible to ovulate that early (and still be taking clomid) ?

I bought an OPK, BBT therm. and Evening Primrose for this month. I have also already been taking Prenatal vitamins for about 2 months. Anyone else trying for Feb.? Any helpful hints?

I've been doing some research on prometrium . I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes.

Does anyone know if you're taking Prometrium, and you are miscarrying, can the prometrium prevent any sign of the m/c ? i.e. can it prevent spotting/bleeding/cramping , or will the m/c go through anyway.?

It looks to me like, according to BBT, you O'd on the 2nd of Nov. But the OPK says the 4th.. I think. If it was the 2nd then you may not have BDed within the time frame. When I was trying for my daughter 10 years ago I went by BBT and thought it was pretty accurate. I have heard the OPKs are really accurate, too, though so I don't know. I'm definetly not too knowlegeable about these things but I wanted to give you my opinion since you asked specifically.

My dr told me to take it cd3-7 and BD as much as possible...he also wants me to monitor my BBT to determine whether I O or not...Clomid doesn't always make you O...trust me, I know...I'm now up to 100mg and taking metformin...oh yeah, I have PCOS :-(...I go to have a progesterone level drawn on Thursday to see if the cycle was a waste...good luck to you!!!

Yes, Prometrium does delay your AF. First time when i was on prometrium, i didn't get my AF until CD40.

I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..

I am supposed to stop my prometrium when I'm 10w which is this thursday, but I have read that some people have miscarried because ur body is not making enough progesterone of its own. I been trying to get preggo for almost 4 yrs and to miscarried now would be devestating. I have also heard that if ur preggo with twins which I am its good to keep taking the prometrium to minimize the chances of premature labor.

Anyway, I had started prometrium 100mg 2x a day 5 dpo. Since BFN this month I am wondering if the prometrium will have screwed things up for next month? Doesn't it prevent o? I stopped taking it last nite, but I hope that its not to late and I'll still be able to get a BFP next month.
