does prometrium raise bbt

My OB/GYN gave me Progesterone (prometrium 100mg per day) to take after ovulation. I have been doing this for several months now. I recently started seeing a RE and when I told him I start the prog either 1dpo or 2 dpo, he freaked out telling me that I should not start them until 4dpo because talking starting it any earlier than 4dpo would cause me not to ovulate properly. I always start prog after I get a +opk one day and a temp increase the next day (which I count as o day).

Does anyone know if its the extra progesterone in our bodies during the luteral phase that causes the emotional stuff and the crying/anxiety?

Right now I am CD45 and just put on Prometrium. I had blood work done and found I have no HCG levels and progesterone levels were below 10. I am really hoping for an AF visit but I was wondering has anyone used Prometrium to get pregnant? I was thinking if it is for increasing your progesterone level during pregnancy and it can also be used to help you ovulate. Can you get pregnant by being on Prometrium?

t know it until cycle day 28 or so - My question is will taking the prometruim make my cycle start even if I conceive therefore causing an abortion?? Does the prometruim function like birth control causing your cycle to start or will my period only start if I don't ovulate or conceive? Thanks for your help ladies!!

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. Do you know if you are ovulating? I know in the past I had weird periods when I wasn't ovulating. The doctor ended up prescribing prometrium, and I got pregnant the next month. I don't know if this helps, but good luck and feel free to post anytime. The ladies in here are great!!!

iam taking clomid 50mg from 3rd day to 7th day of my cycle and from 22nd day of my cycle to 28th day iam on prometrium...my doctor asked me do pegency test on 29th day and if it is negitive she want me to stop prometrium and wait for my periods...this is what ihave done for last 2 cycles and i doing the same thing for my 3rd cycle also.......iam taking this treatment without undergoing HSG test...will there be any problem and i feel that iam not ovulating cause iam taking my BBT...evry month....

No one does until they chart for a few months. BBT is your basal body temperature, which is your resting temperature. You would take it every morning at the same time before you move or do anything. Any movements can raise your temperature causing it to be inaccurate.

I think prometrium will raise your levels whether you're pregnant or not...but hopefully this is your month!!! Best of luck!

i have absent periods, i take prometrium to have a period then start clomid. this is my fourth round.

Today my BBT went low 96.2 compared to all the other day readings which ranges between 96.5 and 97.2. But still my OPK result came out to be -ve. Which one I should believe BBT or OPK. Also had slight low abdomen cramps today morning. Taking clomid, tracking BBT & using OPK omg confused to the core. Does anyone faced the same situation like mine ?

I was told to take my progesterone supplement - prometrium 200mg orally - from when I ovulated until I got my period or was 12 weeks pregnant. Are you charting your BBT to tell when you ovulate? I'd double check with your office on when to start and make sure to get specifics. For a 'regular' or 'normal' cycle you would ovulate on CD 14 or so - starting on CD 15 would fall in line with that. But if you don't ovulate until CD 16 or so - get clarification. Good luck!

I understand that your BBT has to be elevated for at least 15 days for a chance of pregnancy....BUT my question is how much does your temp have to raise for it to be considered an Elevation? Like...the 17, 18 and 19th was 97.5 then 20th and 21st was 98.2, the 22 was 98.4 and today was 98.1 Just wondering if I had any hope.

Hi there I literally just starting my first round of Clomid. I took my first pill last night on day 3 of my cycle. My fertility doctor also has had be charting my bbt for the past several cycles. This morning when I woke up I took my bbt and it had gone up to where it usually is post ovulation. High. When yesterday it was low as it always is after AF arrives right up until I ovulate.

has anyone out there taken progesterone suppositories and noticed very high (pregnancy-like) BBT even when not pregnant? Also, they say to take the test "when you would expect your period"- well, I expect my period 9 days after I ovulate. I assume I really do need to wait 14 days to get an accurate pregnancy test? Today is day 11... I'm also assuming that the progesterone would stop me from having my period, even if I'm not pregnant, right...?

Good morning ;) i am on either 12 or 13DPO & this morning & my temp went up again, from a few days @ 98.3 to today @ 98.4. Unfortunetly it still doesn't mean anything other than that I still have enough progesterone in me to raise my temps. For me my LP is about 16 days LONG! How many DPO are you? Can you do an HPT yet? They say that if your temps stat up for 16 days or more, it's very likely your pregnant.

Maybe I will ask him to add prometrium in addition to crinone. Originally he had prescribed only prometrium but it was a vaginal suppository. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew if breast feeding would change my bbt? my hubby gladly gets my dd for me so I dont have to get up but should I be doing my temps before I feed her or is it ok to do it after?

Prometrium is to help raise the progesterone to aid in implantation of the baby. It is taken the day after Ovulation and till the period occurs. Now as it raises the progesterone it can delay your period if you are not pregnant as during the luteal phase (after ovulation) your progesterone will decrease and estrogen levels will rise talling your body to shed the uterine lining causeing yoru period to occur. When you take suppliments the progesterone stays up and may not fall till stopped.

t ovulate your Dr. will up your dosage and maybe give you Prometrium or some other drug to induce your AF. I’m actually surprise he didn’t induce you before you started your first dosage of Clomid. Now you can also take Clomid on different CD for instance I take my on cd3-7 some do cd5-9. Just follow your dr. orders and if you have any questions call your dr. or ask us we can try to help you as best as we can. BTW are you doing anything tests to check your ovulation: BBT, OPK, CM...?

A little over a week ago I had a canceled IUI due to too many follicles and very high estrogen. Since then I've been taking 200mg Prometrium twice a day (to bring on my period I think). Also since then, I've had a lot of pain in my breasts. It seems to be getting a little bit better but I thought if it was related to the high estrogen it would be gone by now. It's still very much present. Did anyone ever experience this and is it normal? Thanks!

Was just wondering whether Progesterone supplements have any impact on our BBT?? Actually I started my supplements since yesterday night and today in the morning my BBT was5 points higher..is it the natural rise or because of Progesterone supplements..any suggestions idea???

Well no one can give you an exact number but we can tell that prometrium can help raise your progesterone levels! I had to take it while I was pregnant with my second son. Do you know what your level was?? Anything below 10 is low, so I am assuming yours must have been around there for your doctor to put you on prometrium. My High Risk OB said your body can sustain a pregnancy as long as your progesterone is greater than 5, but he prefers over 10.

t use BBT testing for thyroid disease. We rely on TSH levels and adjust medications accordingly. BBT can be helpful to track ovulation but I have no experience with this. From a thyroid standpoint, the goal is to maintain TSH in the 0.3-2.0 range when TTC and during pregnancy. During pregnancy the thyroid medication may need to be increased.
