I was diagnosed with PCOS about 4 years ago and was put on the b/c pill to help regulate my cycles.
I stopped taking the pill a little over a year ago because my husband and I decided to try for a baby. We tried for 7 months with no luck. I went to my ob/gyn and she put me on provera 10mg for 10 days. I started 2 days after my last pill and then started Clomid 50mg days 3-7. I went on day 21 to have my levels tested, found out I did not ovulate.
Well, I have pcos too and my doctor put me on metformin 500mg three times a day and prometrium 200mg twice a day for 10 days each month. The metformin is good for me insulin levels and working with the prometrium my periods have come back after years of not having one. If your periods aren't coming and you're not ovulating it's so hard to have a baby. Ask your doc about putting you on metformin and prometrium or clomid. :) Good luck!
A very good friend of mine ( and mother of 3 ) had PCOS and is quite thin and fit--she has a lovely complexion too.
If you were my patient, the first thing I would do is to (after checking the pregnancy test which I ALWAYS do ) treat you with 5 days of Prometrium. This medication should start your period and "clean out" your uterus. Then, I would start you on Metformin and Femara.
This is my first time posting a question so bear with me.
I'm a 24 y/o F who has been trying to get pregnant since last April. I have very irregular and missed periods so my Dr. put me on 10 days of Prometrium. I had few side effects, fatigue, dizziness and some nausea. After the 10 days on the pill I am supposed to get my period and on day 3 of normal mentration return to the clinic for lab work to diagnose polycystic ovaries. It's been 7 days and no period yet.
Your problems are nearly identical to mine, and I do have a 2 year old son. I got pregnant by luck, according to my dr. We didn't realize I had signs of PCOS and annovulation, until I've been trying to get pregnant the second time. I too had ovarian cysts at 17 and was on the pill until I was 24, and got pregnant pretty quickly after we started trying. This time I've been off the pill since Feb, and it's been frustrating.
So I found out I have pcos. Me and my husband decided we wanted another baby but were told that we could it without help. So we started provera to get a period again then clomid. 2 days again I had to inject myself with Ovidrel 2 days ago and need tomorrow in need to add Prometrium to me. Has anyone use these and gotten success?
I am 24 and have pcos as well. Me and dh have been ttc for over 3 years and nothing! I was also put on metformin and I haven't seen a big difference at all. I know that it does matter a lot about what you eat and how often you exercise which is what I need to focus more on. Also a good thing to do if you haven't done so already is to get your dh checked. For years we thought I was just the problem, but our new fertility doc insisted we test my dh.
said I had 3 mature follies on the left. I go on the 8th for progesterone test and then preg. test on the 15th. I have pcos and have been on Metformin for almost a year. On Friday the 26th day before IUI she gave me a shot to ovulate and she told me on the 28th that I did ovulate. On Monday the 8th my Dr. called me and said that my progesterone level was 25,but I am not sure what this means and would tomorrow be a good day to take a HPT?
I am on my first round of provera to bring on my period so i can start clomid. I have PCOS and i took my 5th provera tablet on the 19/01 and it is now day 8 after the 5th tablet and i still have no period, is this normal or should i go back to the dr. I read that it can take up to 10 to 14 days but my dr said it should only take a week. So im a little confused please help. I really want to start trying for a baby.
The strange thing is i read about high LH and low FSH in case of PCOS but my case is other way around. I have LH 1 and FSH 5. So am not sure if this indicates PCOS as well. Am so scared to think about it. I really hope its not PCOS but some other hormonal imbalance. I cant wait to get pregnant again.
