Paxil normal dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil normal dosage

paxil

Avatar n tn I have been on Paxil CR for 2 years now, and my highest dosage was 37.5 mg about 5 or 6 months ago. Over the past 6 months I have SLOWLY been reducing my dosage as I feel Paxil CR has not been the right drug for me. I would reduce the dosage about every month and a half. About 1.5 months ago, I reduced my dosage from 12.5 mg to 6 mg. Around this time, I started having EXTREME fatigue and chronic, unbearable nausea. I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy but both were completely normal.
1422233 tn?1282701102 I went to my doctor today because my anxiety is kind of bad again. He upped my dosage of Paxil from 40mg to 60mg & gave me a prescription for Klonopin. The Klonopin is only as needed but he had me take one tonight to see how it would affect me, that went fine. Now I am nervous about upping my dosage of Paxil tomorrow. I am going to take 40mg in the morning & 20mg in the afternoon, as that is what my Dr. suggested.
1295419 tn?1276822872 Good morning-For anyone on Paxil (or any medication for anxiety) have you ever noticed small twitches in your legs? I have them which seems to have started around the same time that I started my Paxil. They aren't very noticeable but I assume I am being hyper-sensitive to all symptoms. Any input?
Avatar n tn those increase in your emotions is normal for paxil. is the same doctor prescribing both meds? are you taking the paxil for depression? the vyvance could definitely also cause an increase in your irritation, anger and rage. i would definitely talk with your doctor.
Avatar m tn My Dr increased my dosage of paxil from 25 to 37.5. I have only used the 37.5 for the past three days and I feel tried, muscels ache and feel the my anxiety has increased some. Is this normal or should I ask my Dr to lower my dosage to where it was before. My last visit was on the Friday the 25th and she only prescribed me a (7) 0.50 mil of Xanax and told me to make it last because she was not going to give me anymore.
Avatar f tn I have been on 20mg of paxil for 10 years. I have had some changes in my life( new boyfriend and elderly mom giving me problems) recently I have started having panic attacks and feeling down again. Do I need a change or increase in my meds.
Avatar n tn Ive been on paxil about 10 years but paxil CR only last 2 years. No other meds. Tried skipping one day then 2 days then things got UGLY! So Im back on regular dosage but really would like to be free of it! Thanks for any other advice. S.B.
Avatar m tn Day 5 since I upped my Lexapro to 20mgs per doctor and seems like I have had an increase in tiredness and anxiety? Is this normal for any dosage change? Dang, I had a pretty good weekend.
Avatar n tn Whats up with this? How long should a normal cycle of weening of this dosage take? Some one said maybe a year.
398624 tn?1266269449 Hi! I've been taking Paxil for 2 days now and just feel really weird. Kinda like it's making my symptoms worse. My eyes are more sensitive to light and feel like they are not working together to focus. I feel really dizzy and lightheaded. I feel really tired. Almost flu like without the aches. Also, my stomach has been CONSTANTLY upset. Is this normal until it gets into my system? Also, how long does it take to get into your system and start taking effect?
Avatar n tn I have been on Paxil for over 3 years. Starting in April, I reduced my dosage from 5mg to 2.5mg and had a week of anxiety, but eventually subsided. I was doing fine for over 2 months then in July, I started to have mild anxiety on and off for 6 weeks. I then went off of all Paxil for 2 weeks, but then I had panic attacks and physical anxiety. I have no racing thoughts or worries. This appears to be stress related and it's all physical.
1452588 tn?1285086427 Switched to Celexa along with the other BiPo meds, You might want to talk to your doctor about changing dosage of Wellbutrin or whether he/she recommends another anti-depressant. M4's advice is spot on!
Avatar f tn Hi, I don't know the answer to your question but I understand because I just went from Paxil to Lexapro and am feeling miserable. I think it's due to Paxil withdrawel and the Lexapro doesn't seem to be working for me. Have you ever gone from one antidepressant to another?

Avatar n tn Hi my doctor wants me to start on paxil on top of my ativan and risperdal does anyone know about paxil and what I can expect with this med I hate taking meds to begin with so I dont want to start another one if I don't have to. Any info wold be great. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Did doc say to just stop? You can't just stop taking Paxil, you have to taper off very slowly. It's a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.
Avatar f tn The normal dose for Paxil maintenance is, I think, 20mg. But people do metabolize them differently. My advice is, if you and your doctor decide this drug isn't working, don't stay on it long, but it does take about 4-6 weeks for antidepressants to work. (Side effects, naturally, come immediately).
554422 tn?1220575366 I went on it after having the baby and I just had to keep increasing my dosage. Finally I am on Celexa and feel normal. Aside from panic attacks, of course, which I do still have. Just talk to your doctor about how you feel on the medicine and go from there.
983155 tn?1248700406 If I were you, if your psychiatrist recommended this course of action, meaning cold turkey on Paxil and then the high dosage of wellbutrin, I would probably look for another one. This one clearly doesn't do his homework. If you want the doctor to answer this second question, you'll have to put up another thread to him, he generally doesn't answer the same one twice.
Avatar m tn I AM A FEMALE AGE 42. I HAVE BEEN TAKING PAXIL FOR 13 YEARS. I AM CURRENTLY WEENING OFF PAXIL. HOW LONG DOES THE WITHDRAWAL LAST AFTER YOUR LAST DOSE. I AM WONDERING WILLTHE DEPERSONALIZATION GO AWAY WHEN IM DONE GOING THROUGH WITHDRAW..
Avatar m tn I didn't have any luck with paxil either. Those brain"zaps" are normal coming down on dosage or going off of any ssri med. Are you seeing a GP or Psych? I was on several meds simultaneously a few years ago, and I got the tremors and confusion, too. Now all I take is lexapro and xanax as needed, and I seem to be ok. Maybe a second opinion would be in order here. Depression, bipolar, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia share some similar symptoms.
Avatar f tn hi all. I've been on anxiety/depression meds for two years now. lately it seems my depression is getting worse. I lost my only child, a son, nearly two years ago. if my problems had started then, I could understand, but started before that and only got worse. I've had the Paxil dosage increased once already and wondering if I should get it increased again, or try something different. any thoughts?
Avatar f tn If your concern is only the weight change factor just keep an eye on your weight and if you start to notice you that your gaining or losing call your doctor. The weight is one of the less serious side effects. But do your research on the Paxil and the dosage. Or nothing may happen at all the side effects vary from person to person. You may not have any side effects.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was on Paxil for a month and I hated it. My doc told me to take 1/2 a tablet for a week combined with Welbutrin. I am having some withdrawal symtoms. I am really cranky and at nite I cry. Is this normal and when will it stop? Oh I also hear a whooshing sound when I move my eyes.
1035021 tn?1296820707 I've been taken paxil from 6 months ago, everything was ok, until this last 10 days or so, I started to feel like more anxious, and sometimes like acelerated I'm starting to think this is not normal and maybe could be the paxil intake, I take 20 mg daily, am I getting short or maybe I'm getting too much. Is there any possibility for this med to cause me an increase of panic attacks and anxiety.
Avatar f tn I just started on Paxil yesterday as an anxiety treatment, and was instructed to take 10mg for 2 weeks before raising the dosage to 20mg, which should be my maximum dosage. Since I took the first 10mg pill yesterday, I started experiencing insomnia, tremors, headaches, fever and cold sweats, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, and increased anxiety. I understand that these are fairly common side effects, but I'm just not sure that they are commonly this bad with others.
1422233 tn?1282701102 ve probably heard is that Prozac, because it stays in the body a fairly long time while the other ssris, particularly Paxil, leave the body very quickly, is thought not to have as bad a withdrawal problem so some psychiatrists, after tapering your Paxil dosage down, will try to substitute Prozac so as to take you off the Prozac rather than the Paxil. Whether this works or not is very individual. Either way, you'll have to start a slow taper off Paxil first.
