Paxil dosage for children

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil dosage for children

paxil

Avatar f tn I'm sure this is something I should ask my doctor, but I figured there are many knowledgable people on this forum so... I really feel that I need to be on medication but my anxiety over-rides my rational thinking -- it's like I'm too anxious about the (possible) side-effects to take something that could provide some relief. I have a prescription for Paxil, which I've taken in the past, and was wondering if it would provide some benefit if I only took it every other day???
1422233 tn?1282701102 I went to my doctor today because my anxiety is kind of bad again. He upped my dosage of Paxil from 40mg to 60mg & gave me a prescription for Klonopin. The Klonopin is only as needed but he had me take one tonight to see how it would affect me, that went fine. Now I am nervous about upping my dosage of Paxil tomorrow. I am going to take 40mg in the morning & 20mg in the afternoon, as that is what my Dr. suggested.
Avatar f tn s approval weaned myself off of Paxil 20mg. I had been on it for postpartum depression and just came to rely on it. I weaned myself in March, very slowly.....but then very slowly, the symptoms all came back with anxiety worse than ever. I started on Zoloft, just the minimal dosage, but also knew how well the Paxil had worked for me and after a week on the zoloft and not feeling better I switched right over to the Paxil.
Avatar f tn Hi! I started paxil six weeks ago for anxiety. I started at 10 for the first week and then up to 20. At four weeks the doctor suggested I increase to 40 because I wasn't having any improvement. I didn't go all the way to 40mg, but I have felt better since going up to 30mg. Today, I have all my anxiety back. I was looking for some help/advice. I also take lorazapem in the mornings. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I have been on 20mg of paxil for 10 years. I have had some changes in my life( new boyfriend and elderly mom giving me problems) recently I have started having panic attacks and feeling down again. Do I need a change or increase in my meds.
5757880 tn?1395578022 Well, there is a genetic component to anxiety, and I would suspect that anxious parents could also create anxiety. But, I think, from all I have read that ADHD is the biggest cause as the person tries to cope with the ADHD. And frankly, if you were a part of it or not, doesn't matter. What does matter is that you are a part of helping him deal with it. In terms of your anxiety question. My go-to-guy for this is Dr. Charles Parker at Corepsyc.
Avatar n tn I have been on Paxil CR for 2 years now, and my highest dosage was 37.5 mg about 5 or 6 months ago. Over the past 6 months I have SLOWLY been reducing my dosage as I feel Paxil CR has not been the right drug for me. I would reduce the dosage about every month and a half. About 1.5 months ago, I reduced my dosage from 12.5 mg to 6 mg. Around this time, I started having EXTREME fatigue and chronic, unbearable nausea. I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy but both were completely normal.
Avatar n tn Tried skipping one day then 2 days then things got UGLY! So Im back on regular dosage but really would like to be free of it! Thanks for any other advice. S.B.
Avatar n tn Hi - I am a 60 year old lady that has taken paxil for 7 years - I have gained a lot of weight and have been trying to stop takinging my paxil - i got down to 10 mg a day from 20 but when I tried to stop I struggled terribly. I had trouble sleeping and I felt like I could not breathe - by the third day I thought I would panic and the fear of not being able to breathe was terrible. Has anyone else experienced this type of sympton and did you get off the paxil.
2065348 tn?1331075207 I took paxil for 6 years and it changed my life. I went off of it to try to get pregnant but got really depressed so had to get back on. Within 2 weeks I felt so much better and took away the derealization I was having to ( worst feeling in the world ) then when I found out was pregnant I got off paxil again.
3050754 tn?1340206018 Quick thought cause I need to find where I saw the info. But I know that some anxiety meds can partially damp the effects of stim meds. For example, "Wellbutrin can block the pathway for Dex, only moderate, but if the person is s slow burner that moderate blockage of 2D6 could spell the difference." If you don't mind me asking, what anxiety meds are you on and I will see if that effects the stim med.
1452588 tn?1285086427 Absolutely! For four years I took Wellbutrin for depression. In 1999 all heck broke loose when I became agitated, nervous and grandiose.. I was hospitalized in a day program for four weeks, That's when my psychiatrist gave me Bipolar II Disorder diagnosis. I stayed on Wellbutrin at a lower dose, and a mood stabilizer and anti-psychotic were added to the mix. I've learned through the years that for no apparent reason, a med can stop working.
Avatar f tn Hi, I don't know the answer to your question but I understand because I just went from Paxil to Lexapro and am feeling miserable. I think it's due to Paxil withdrawel and the Lexapro doesn't seem to be working for me. Have you ever gone from one antidepressant to another?
Avatar n tn s a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.
983155 tn?1248700406 I get really angry over nothing and I am really dizzy. Is that alot for me to take of wellbutrin to start of .. Is it the paxil wiithdrawls?? Is it the welbutrin?? Help!!
Avatar m tn I AM A FEMALE AGE 42. I HAVE BEEN TAKING PAXIL FOR 13 YEARS. I AM CURRENTLY WEENING OFF PAXIL. HOW LONG DOES THE WITHDRAWAL LAST AFTER YOUR LAST DOSE. I AM WONDERING WILLTHE DEPERSONALIZATION GO AWAY WHEN IM DONE GOING THROUGH WITHDRAW..
Avatar n tn 37.5 is the lowest amount is it not? I know it goes up to 300mg and some times above for certain cases. I'm on 150mg. That is a very low dosage that I wouldn't worry about especially if it helped!
Avatar f tn If your concern is only the weight change factor just keep an eye on your weight and if you start to notice you that your gaining or losing call your doctor. The weight is one of the less serious side effects. But do your research on the Paxil and the dosage. Or nothing may happen at all the side effects vary from person to person. You may not have any side effects.
1295419 tn?1276822872 Good morning-For anyone on Paxil (or any medication for anxiety) have you ever noticed small twitches in your legs? I have them which seems to have started around the same time that I started my Paxil. They aren't very noticeable but I assume I am being hyper-sensitive to all symptoms. Any input?
1422233 tn?1282701102 Prozac is probably better for depression generally than it is for anxiety, and Paxil for whatever reason is very strong, probably because it also has a strong effect on choline receptors.
Avatar n tn Greenlydia gave some good advice. I have the same question. How long have you been on Paxil? I was on Paxil for panic disorder 4 years ago. It took a good six weeks before the drowsiness subsided. I am recently back on 10mg for a return of the panic attacks, though not nearly as bad as they were years ago. Still a little drowsy, but it's letting up.
Avatar f tn Is there a way to take something to supplement the paxil, while at the same time weaning off the dosage of the paxil? Also, is it unrealistic to hope that something natural can keep his anxiety at bay as well as paxil can? He exercises a ton, so that can't be increased much more. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Avatar m tn I have read that adding wellbutrin can help with both weight gain and sexual problems, but it is stimulating so you have to watch your anxiety. You're also on a high dosage of Paxil -- do you need that much? Not that a lower dosage will necessarily help as to the side effects. I also couldn't eat much when coming off Paxil, but it was because of the difficulties so many have coming off this med.
