Do you think if my doctor says I can get of Paxil and increase my dosage of Xanax I will feel the same way?

I have been on 20mg of paxil for 10 years. I have had some changes in my life( new boyfriend and elderly mom giving me problems) recently I have started having panic attacks and feeling down again. Do I need a change or increase in my meds.

Recently I started taking Vyvance 30mg for adult ADD and wanted to see if I could ween myself off of the Paxil. I cut the dosage in half for two weeks. I did not experience any of the flu like symtoms, but I distinctly noticed an increase in irritation, anger, and had one rage episode the second week. Suppressed anger, resentment, and bitterness was an area I started dealing with from the beginning of therapy and haven't had that kind of anger for a long time, is this normal.

It's most likely that your body has built up a tolerance to the Paxil, this happens often and usually an increase in dosage or a change of medication is needed. This is common so don't be overly concerned. Call your doctor and let him know what you are experiencing, I'm sure he can help.

Over the course of the last 3 months I have went from Paxil CR 25 to Lexapro (which didn't work) back to Paxil CR 25. Paxil has always worked for me. I have noticed an increase in anxiety over the last few months which led me to look into changing medications fearing "poop out" had set in with Paxil CR. I was on Paxil CR 25mg and now it looks like once I get the last bit of Lexapro 5mg out of my system I will probably be bumped up to Paxil CR 37.5.

I would not be concerned about this amount as long as you do not need to increase and it keeps helping you. Addiction has a very narrow definition in medical terminology and what you have described does not fit it even closely. It does not even come under the term of "dependence" because of such low dose and no need for dosage increase. If this regiment is working for you, stick with it. I am real sensitive to medications....all of them...this is my 3rd time on paxil....just hope the increase will help but worried it will make me feel worse...any suggestions...

They're both in the same class of drugs, and pretty much treat the same symptoms. Paxil is a newer medication, and if the dosage isn't working you may need to have your doctor increase it. Prozac is an old drug and I think the newer ones come with fewer side effects. It's best to discuss this with your doctor since he is aware of what will best suit your needs.

You got a good long run from the Paxil, but unfortuantely, some meds simply lose their efficacy for us and we must try something else. Have you discussed a dose increase or are you at the max with the Paxil now? I wish you the best.

i don't have experience with paxil. i wouldn't be affraid to increase if it works for you and you think you need to. sometmies at certain points in our life, we do need to increase our dose...and then at others we can reduce it...obviously under our doctors supervision. and then sometimes we can go off it all together. don't let that fear stop you from something you need. i'm terrified of taking meds until i'm stable on them...so i understand the fear...

I went to my doctor today because my anxiety is kind of bad again. He upped my dosage of Paxil from 40mg to 60mg & gave me a prescription for Klonopin. The Klonopin is only as needed but he had me take one tonight to see how it would affect me, that went fine. Now I am nervous about upping my dosage of Paxil tomorrow. I am going to take 40mg in the morning & 20mg in the afternoon, as that is what my Dr. suggested.

Last night i quit paxil (3 days only on it) iwhen i started again i felt mentally sick,(terrible feeling), so i decided to stay on the elavil and maybe increase dosage. I am so scared of paxil. and about the pregancy, we are not trying... I dont want to bring a child to world beeing on those medications, By the way do you know anybody who did saliva test for neurotrasmitters. My came back all high on stress hormons, but normal on seratonin, ?????

s been 6 weeks and you are no better, you may need an increase in your dosage or a change of medication completely. Anytime your meds stop working or never start after 6 weeks, contact your doctor. We all go thru this, as it is often trial and error with dosage, and medication. Hope this helps.

Day 5 since I upped my Lexapro to 20mgs per doctor and seems like I have had an increase in tiredness and anxiety? Is this normal for any dosage change? Dang, I had a pretty good weekend.

My Dr increased my dosage of paxil from 25 to 37.5. I have only used the 37.5 for the past three days and I feel tried, muscels ache and feel the my anxiety has increased some. Is this normal or should I ask my Dr to lower my dosage to where it was before. My last visit was on the Friday the 25th and she only prescribed me a (7) 0.50 mil of Xanax and told me to make it last because she was not going to give me anymore.

Should you experience symptoms when you have dosage increase? I have been taking 75mcg for 8 days after increasing from 50 mcg. The lower dosage made me feel dizzy and so tired so endo told me to start 75 mcg. But I have been feeling a little jittery,nauseous and achy all weekend. Is it normal to have this after increase and I should try to tough it out for a few days? Or is this a reaction I should be concerned about it?

I have been on Paxil for over 3 years. Starting in April, I reduced my dosage from 5mg to 2.5mg and had a week of anxiety, but eventually subsided. I was doing fine for over 2 months then in July, I started to have mild anxiety on and off for 6 weeks. I then went off of all Paxil for 2 weeks, but then I had panic attacks and physical anxiety. I have no racing thoughts or worries. This appears to be stress related and it's all physical.

I have only ever tried Zoloft and it works wonders. It took a few weeks to kick in but I have been on it for 14 years now (different dosage depending upon my need and my doctors orders). If the Paxil isn't working the way it should, talk to your doctor and ask about another medication. There is a huge line up of meds that work for anxiety, some work totally different then others but all can be pretty darn effective.

hi all. I've been on anxiety/depression meds for two years now. lately it seems my depression is getting worse. I lost my only child, a son, nearly two years ago. if my problems had started then, I could understand, but started before that and only got worse. I've had the Paxil dosage increased once already and wondering if I should get it increased again, or try something different. any thoughts?

If so do I need to increase the paxil back to 20 like it was originally prescribed? Or do I need to find an alternative?

If that becomes the case, at that point, it makes far more sense to try a dosage increase of the SAME med rather than starting the WHOLE process over again with a new med. So, if a dosage increase is determined to be needed after that initial adjustment period, then there will be another adjustment period. Just like you have to give a med time to work when you first start taking it, you have to do the same thing after increases.

5 mg lexparo and slowly she will lower teh paxil dosage, She is telling me that i have several withdraw effects from paxil.

Im on paxil 10mg and think i should increase my dosage, it helps but i think i need a little more... My concern is having less of a sex life than i do from being on the 10mg, weight gain because i am a skinny girl and always have been, and being even more tired... Anyone have any feedback?
