Common Questions and Answers about Increasing paxil dosage symptoms

paxil

554422 tn?1220575366 I went on it after having the baby and I just had to keep increasing my dosage. Finally I am on Celexa and feel normal. Aside from panic attacks, of course, which I do still have. Just talk to your doctor about how you feel on the medicine and go from there.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever had this experience before with Zoloft? Does it get better if the dosage is increased, or should I just ask my doctor to go off it. I would hate to start another medication (especially since she's recommending Paxil next and I don't want to take that). Thanks for any help and advice you can offer. I'm at my wits end with this. Oh, I am also in CBT for my OCD.
Avatar f tn So if you have one that works, it is good to stick with it. You are on the right meds and dosage if you have no symptoms. that is what matters most, not test results. Beyond that this quote from a fellow member, Red_Star, prompted me to ask about those other tests. This is info she provided in a prior thread. "Low ferritin symptoms can mimic hypothyroidism. Shortness of breath is also a symptom of low ferritin levels.
Avatar m tn - 15 years ago, after my daughter was born, my thyroid went haywire and I ended up on a steadily increasing dosage of Levoxyl, along with a steadily increasing dosage of Paxil, until I was taking 200 mcg of Levoxyl and 40 mg of Paxil a day. I was sluggish, 60 pounds overweight, and in a zombie-like trance most of the time. When I insisted on coming off of the Paxil after 8 years, my thyroid 'miraculously' started working again and my TSH levels went from 9-10 to 3-4.
2065348 tn?1331075207 Give it another couple of weeks or so, ask your doc about increasing the dosage, but prepare for the possibility that another medication might be the answer here. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Normally increasing the dosage does help, as they normally start us out on the lowest dosage and go up depending on how we are feeling. You shouldn't feel any side effects from the increase since you are already on it. I know how frustrating this has been for you, it often takes many attempts with trying different medications before we find the right one at the correct dosage....but once we do it's well worth it!
1422233 tn?1282701102 I went to my doctor today because my anxiety is kind of bad again. He upped my dosage of Paxil from 40mg to 60mg & gave me a prescription for Klonopin. The Klonopin is only as needed but he had me take one tonight to see how it would affect me, that went fine. Now I am nervous about upping my dosage of Paxil tomorrow. I am going to take 40mg in the morning & 20mg in the afternoon, as that is what my Dr. suggested.
Avatar n tn I have been on Paxil CR for 2 years now, and my highest dosage was 37.5 mg about 5 or 6 months ago. Over the past 6 months I have SLOWLY been reducing my dosage as I feel Paxil CR has not been the right drug for me. I would reduce the dosage about every month and a half. About 1.5 months ago, I reduced my dosage from 12.5 mg to 6 mg. Around this time, I started having EXTREME fatigue and chronic, unbearable nausea. I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy but both were completely normal.
Avatar m tn That minimizes the possibility of going hyper or having hyper-like symptoms from increasing too fast. Typically, dose changes are made in increments of 12.5-25 mcg.
Avatar m tn Im confused. I have been on SSRI's (Paxil & Paxil CR) in the past and they worked and I have come off on several occations, but currently I tried to swith to another SSRI which didn't work. Now I have been switched back to Paxil CR and I am currently on a new high of 37.5 milligrams for a week and a half and still don't feel that great. Is it usual to have a set back at every dose increase before it gets better?
1460652 tn?1340248730 I have just increased my dosage of celexa from 10 mg to 15 mg. I am really nervous and shaky and dont want to be around people. I can't sleep, i feel strung out, and am nauseous. My dr says to hang in there and keep taking it. I have heard that the anxious feelings are normal but I guess i just want some input. The anxiety isn't unbearable, should I just tough it out? The bad part is im supposed to go up to 20 mg in 3 days!
Avatar f tn I am on a 4mg dose but with seroksat/paxil to help. I am increasing my dose slowly. I never thought there is such 800mg. I asked ILADVOCATE whether lamictal develops tolerance so you have to keep increasing the dose constantly and he said no. I wonder why a pt has to go higher and higher. I think the answer is that there must be an equilibrium to reach between the lamictal and the antidepressant. One needs an MS if we take an AD.
1452588 tn?1285086427 When you feel the dose is not enough anymore then you can talk to your doctor about upping but note that if you just upped your dose those symptoms can vanish pretty in a matter of some a week of two.
Avatar n tn Did doc say to just stop? You can't just stop taking Paxil, you have to taper off very slowly. It's a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.
Avatar f tn Hi, I don't know the answer to your question but I understand because I just went from Paxil to Lexapro and am feeling miserable. I think it's due to Paxil withdrawel and the Lexapro doesn't seem to be working for me. Have you ever gone from one antidepressant to another?
983155 tn?1248700406 Thanks! Yeah I am treating depression anxiety and ADHD thats why my doc put me on this. Why does it cause anxiety? Is that dosage really high to start off of.
1100999 tn?1257701380 The most common effect is nausea and it most people it go away after a week or so and when increasing dosage the same process can repeats. You may want to speak to your doctor about another drug called Cymbalta which is a SNRI rather than a SSRI like Paxil. Or even talk about Lexapro ( SSRI ). Studies are showing an excellent sucess rate with both Lexapro and Cymbalta and this is why they are on top of my list too and i have success right now with Cymbalta.
Avatar f tn You are on the lowest dosage of Paxil and it can take up to 8 weeks for it to reach a full therapeutic level in your system. Drowsiness is a side effect, and since it's interfering with your day to day life, your doctot needs to know this. Good luck and keep us posted!
Avatar n tn A friend of mine stopped Paxil and then started on Celexa without waiting for the entire withdrawl time. She, too, suffered from the same symptoms that you have listed. There are many other SSRI's (and Paxil fits into this category as does Celexa) that could be used which might be of more help to you.
Avatar f tn I think if its working for you then up the dosage. It couldn't hurt if you are still having attacks. I am taking Paxil and still have attacks. I am seeing my doctor about switching. I don't want to have any attacks anymore!
Avatar m tn I AM A FEMALE AGE 42. I HAVE BEEN TAKING PAXIL FOR 13 YEARS. I AM CURRENTLY WEENING OFF PAXIL. HOW LONG DOES THE WITHDRAWAL LAST AFTER YOUR LAST DOSE. I AM WONDERING WILLTHE DEPERSONALIZATION GO AWAY WHEN IM DONE GOING THROUGH WITHDRAW..
