had set in with Paxil CR. I was on Paxil CR 25mg and now it looks like once I get the last bit of Lexapro 5mg out of my system I will probably be bumped up to Paxil CR 37.5. My question is, what constitutes a "poop out"? I hear that term a lot and really don't know what it means. Does that mean that when trying to go up in a dose it still didn't help?
Hi all, I have been on Paxil Cr for a few years. 25 mg. It has worked really well for my panic attacks but recently I lost insurance and won't be eligible for medicare for 8 months so I ordered my prescription from online pharmacy which I have done before with no problem. Since I was low on my meds and didn't want to run out before it got here I reduced dosage. Took 1/2 pill every other day only problem I had was balance issues which got better after a week.
I have been on Paxil CR for 2 years now, and my highest dosage was 37.5 mg about 5 or 6 months ago. Over the past 6 months I have SLOWLY been reducing my dosage as I feel Paxil CR has not been the right drug for me. I would reduce the dosage about every month and a half. About 1.5 months ago, I reduced my dosage from 12.5 mg to 6 mg. Around this time, I started having EXTREME fatigue and chronic, unbearable nausea. I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy but both were completely normal.
I saw for the first time today a therapist who I really like. With my diagnosis which is GAD, OCD, panic attacks he suggested I try Paxil CR instead of Buspar.
Paxil CR side effects really scare me. Especially the nausea part since I also have a phobia (emet) of getting sick.
Any help or thoughts???
After the first soe of medication i have a panic attact right away, afre all week of suffering i came back to my old doctor who described teh paxil in the begging . He changed the Paxil to CR 12.5 and gave me Xanax, The hell just started, I was not able to function, between morning panic attacts and vomiting i was not able to work (almost lost my job). After two weeks of suffering i went to hospital they run all regular tests and confirmed that there is nothing wrong with me.
I take paxil 25 cr now and it is working pretty good. My doc upped me to 37.5 and I noticed no difference either so went back down to 25 without a problem. I think as long as you are taking paxil going down on dose is not an issue, it's if you go off all at once but my son who is 14 and has just developed panic attacks was put on zoloft 50 mgs and it has helped him. I took zoloft first but gave me gastro problems so doc wanted me to switch.
I was suffering from Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia. I was on 25mg of Paxil CR for 2 years and my dose was lowered a few months ago to 12.5mg a day. I have started to have some panic attacks... few and far between, but I got so used to not having any attacks and living a more normal life. I really don't want to go back up to 25mg of Paxil - I gained 40 pounds in less than 6 months and have gained a total of 55 pounds now.
thanks to you for your insight. I ended up switching from Paxil CR 25 to Paxil 20 (gneric),which surprisingly my insurance pays for. I made the switch today with no adverse things happening, although I know it could be delayed. The goal at this point is to taper off the paxil 20, then get onto prozac. Although maybe I will just stay on the paxil if it keeps going well. The Paxil Cr has been great for me, but inusrance doesn't pay any of it, not even for generic.
Hi all, Just wondering, is there any 1 out there that has had a positive experience with Paxil CR. I read alot of horror stories and am just wondering if it has actually helped anyone. You see, I have had panic disorder my whole life. I am 51 now. I was put on Paxil CR a few years ago and I thought it was a miracle drug. Totally got rid of my panic attacks. Still have some anxiety but am menopausal also.
I quit paxil almost two weeks ago. I have the classic symptoms. Flu like feeling, ringing in my ears ,Anxiety Cold @ hot flashes.I took 2- 25mg tabs cr daily for 5 years. I stopped taking the 25mg tab @ night & continued with the other 25mg tab for about a week then quit. Now I know I have to gradually stop. 3days ago I couldn't handle it anymore. I talked to a pharmasist@ she said To continue with the 2 tabs again @After a month gradually lower the dosage.
I stopped taking my Paxil CR 25mg approx 3 weeks ago due to loss of insurance and job. I had been taking them for over 2 years and before that I took other anti-depressants for several years. Since stopping the pills I have been experiencing insomnia and "dizzy spells". The spells last about 1 second, can occur when I take a deep breath, or move my eyes fast, among other reasons,and happen 50+ times per day. I feel this is a direct effect from stopping the pills.
Just looking for somebody who has been in the same boat as me and could offer up some advice/support... Last January I had a rough anxiety bout and started back on a combination of Paxil CR 25mg and Clonazepam .5mg. Everything was going smooth, but after a couple of months I noticed my anxiety was getting worse so the doc upped the clonazepam to 1mg. I am 3 weeks back on Paxil after a failed attempt to switch medications to Lexapro. I have read a lot that Paxil loses its effectiveness after the first time. Does anyone else have HORRIBLE nausea from taking Paxil CR? I am on 25 mgs. and it is helping greatly with the depression. BUT the nausea is insane. I take it at bedtime with a snack and I am sick for half of the next day. Ginger tea, gingerale, Coke, oatmeal. Totally bland diet. It is one heck of a diet plan. Please help.
The doctor thought I may not have enough Paxil in my system so he put me on 25mg Paxil CR twice daily and it made me feel even worse. I felt like I had the flu and very achy. Very bad withdrawal effects. I was then put on regular paxil 40 mg daily and I constantly had the eye zaps and strong depersonalization feelings like I was in a constant withdrawal.
I was then switched to Lexapro 20 mg.
I am starting week #5 of paxil cr (week 1 = paxil cr 12.5, week 2 = paxil cr 25, week 3- current = paxil 37.5) Everywhere I read its just "keep waiting it out. It will get better." My doc wants me to raise to paxil cr 50mg on Monday if I don't start feeling any better. That is double the old dose I was at that worked for so long! It just scares me to keep going up. I recently tried Lexapro and it was a disaster. I just need some positive feedback.
ok so the past few weeks ive been having extreme anxiety, tingling in fingers, arm pain, back and chest pain on and off (pressure, sharp pains, anything you can think of i've felt it), panic attacks. saw a cardiologist on tuesday, said i had a normal echo. last year and nothing would drastically change within a year, and normal ekgs and holter monitor recently. he also prescribed me propranolol , which i'm terrified to take because it drops BP and your heart rate.
I have been taking 37.5 mg/day of Paxil CR for several years and because my panic attacks were interfering with my ability to work, my medical doctor and psychologist suggested that I switch to 50 mg/day of Zoloft. I am now on day 5 of Zoloft and can NOT stop crying. I'm also dizzy and nauseaous. I feel like I'm losing my mind and want to know if this is "normal" during transitioning from one SSRI to another and if so, WHEN WILL THIS END?
I started out taking 20 mg of paxil and ended up on 40 mg of paxil CR. All together, I took paxil for 6 years. I decided to stop taking it because it kept me from concentrating and memorizing which is vital since I am in college to be a school teacher. In addition, I gained so much weight due to the medicine. My doctor helped me get off of the paxil which was a horrible experience that I never want to repeat again! Now my anxiety has come back and it is becoming worse.
Did you recently increase the dosage per your doc's orders? I always find that when I started, stopped, or adjusted dosage, I would have increased anxiety and feel a little more on edge, but it would level out within a few weeks or so. These meds can sometimes be a little trial and error in finding which one is right for you sometimes. If you continue to have these effects, I would talk to your doctor about them...keep us posted!
I started the end of February and recently went from 12.5 CR to 25 CR. I am 55 post menopause. In 2003 I had a biopsy that came back negative for microcalcifications. All mammograms since have been negative. Of course being a worry wart I researched Paxil online and read some articles linking prolactin increasing from some SSRIS specifically Paxil to increase a Breast Cancer risk. The Paxil is working for me after all of these years of feeling out of sorts.
