paxil

1422233 tn?1282701102 I went to my doctor today because my anxiety is kind of bad again. He upped my dosage of Paxil from 40mg to 60mg & gave me a prescription for Klonopin. The Klonopin is only as needed but he had me take one tonight to see how it would affect me, that went fine. Now I am nervous about upping my dosage of Paxil tomorrow. I am going to take 40mg in the morning & 20mg in the afternoon, as that is what my Dr. suggested.

983155 tn?1248700406 Yeah I am treating depression anxiety and ADHD thats why my doc put me on this. Why does it cause anxiety? Is that dosage really high to start off of.
1452588 tn?1285086427 Switched to Celexa along with the other BiPo meds, You might want to talk to your doctor about changing dosage of Wellbutrin or whether he/she recommends another anti-depressant. M4's advice is spot on!
1422233 tn?1282701102 This question could also qualify as a depression one so I hope it's ok to post it here. I'm a 22 year old female & have anxiety, depression, & OCD. I have been on Paxil (the generic brand) for about three years now. A couple of weeks ago I started to feel like it wasn't working for me anymore. I can feel the anxiety & I get down. It's not as bad as before I was on the Paxil, but I think I need a change. I have a Doctors' appointment this week.
Avatar f tn I have been on 20mg of paxil for 10 years. I have had some changes in my life( new boyfriend and elderly mom giving me problems) recently I have started having panic attacks and feeling down again. Do I need a change or increase in my meds.
Avatar f tn hi all. I've been on anxiety/depression meds for two years now. lately it seems my depression is getting worse. I lost my only child, a son, nearly two years ago. if my problems had started then, I could understand, but started before that and only got worse. I've had the Paxil dosage increased once already and wondering if I should get it increased again, or try something different. any thoughts?
Avatar n tn At first I started taking it because I had anxiety problems while eating. As soon as I started paxil these problems went away for the most part in a few weeks. A couple years later I started having panic attacks. I recently began seeing a psychiatrist who increased my dosage gradually from 20mg to 60mg. I really haven't noticed any difference though at all when going from 20mg to 60mg of paxil. He also prescribed 1mg of Ativan, which I only take when needed (about twice a week).
Avatar f tn Hi! I started paxil six weeks ago for anxiety. I started at 10 for the first week and then up to 20. At four weeks the doctor suggested I increase to 40 because I wasn't having any improvement. I didn't go all the way to 40mg, but I have felt better since going up to 30mg. Today, I have all my anxiety back. I was looking for some help/advice. I also take lorazapem in the mornings. Thank you!
Avatar n tn First of all, 5mg is a tiny amount, but I guess it's all you needed. But the Paxil didn't cure you, it just suppressed your anxiety. When you stop, your anxiety is back. Only therapy can cure it, not that it will but meds won't. So either you need to stay on an ssri or other anti-anxiety med for now, or deal with it without meds through therapy.
Avatar n tn hi my name is jessie,i have had a panic/anxiety disorder for 7 years, the first 5 i was on 10mg of paxil, then 15mg for 2 years, and as of 16 days ago it all came back for the first time in 7 years so my doc put me up to 30mg but im having good days and bad days, why is that, shoudnt i just proggressivly keep getting better, why the set backs, its been 16 days now,and im still feeling crazy
Avatar f tn If your concern is only the weight change factor just keep an eye on your weight and if you start to notice you that your gaining or losing call your doctor. The weight is one of the less serious side effects. But do your research on the Paxil and the dosage. Or nothing may happen at all the side effects vary from person to person. You may not have any side effects.
1295419 tn?1276822872 Good morning-For anyone on Paxil (or any medication for anxiety) have you ever noticed small twitches in your legs? I have them which seems to have started around the same time that I started my Paxil. They aren't very noticeable but I assume I am being hyper-sensitive to all symptoms. Any input?
Avatar m tn Over the course of the last 3 months I have went from Paxil CR 25 to Lexapro (which didn't work) back to Paxil CR 25. Paxil has always worked for me. I have noticed an increase in anxiety over the last few months which led me to look into changing medications fearing "poop out" had set in with Paxil CR. I was on Paxil CR 25mg and now it looks like once I get the last bit of Lexapro 5mg out of my system I will probably be bumped up to Paxil CR 37.5.
2102085 tn?1350866645 5mg of clonazepam (as needed, but lately i take it every night!) my p-doc had increased my dosage of Lexapro from 10 to 15mg when I explained these symptoms. They are so severe I would take a wave of panic attack instead any day! After a few days of the increased Lexapro dosage the severity of my nausea and brain discomfort increased as well. It was miserable. So, through my own trial and error I skipped a dose and my symptoms decreased! Could it be possible my Lexapro was making me ill?
Avatar f tn When I first started Paxil almost 10 years ago, I did get sleepy and lethargic. Once I got through the 4-6 weeks antidepressants take to regulate in your system, I was fine. I just made sure to take it at night. As for the dosage, when I have to tell a regular doctor how much I take (75 mg of the controlled release per day) they look at me and say "you know that is a high dosage, right?". I do, and now that I am being treated for ADD, my anxiety has diminished greatly.
Avatar m tn Day 5 since I upped my Lexapro to 20mgs per doctor and seems like I have had an increase in tiredness and anxiety? Is this normal for any dosage change? Dang, I had a pretty good weekend.
Avatar m tn Then Christmas comes I get the flu and boom goes my anxiety so with the New Years thought it might be best to try this switch since everytime I was getting sick I was having to increase paxil dosage. So my schedule to get off paxil and onto lexapro is as follows. I am also taking a 1/2 pill of .5mg Ativan nightly to help me sleep. Week 1 Paxil 30mg. Week 2 Paxil 20mg. Lexapro 5mg. Week 3 Paxil 10mg. Lexapro 10mg. Week 4 Lexapro 10mg.
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor. I have been taking Paxil for about 6 years. Recently my doctor told me that I could try Wellbutrin, because I have gained lots of weight, have very few energy and have no sexual drive. I was taking 30 mg of Paxil, then she told me to cut it the next week to 20 mg (one week), and then to 10 mg (one week) and then start with the Wellbutrin SR.I started it last Friday, I was experiencing horrible nausea, Maalox was completely useless.
Avatar n tn Did doc say to just stop? You can't just stop taking Paxil, you have to taper off very slowly. It's a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.
398624 tn?1266269449 Hi! I've been taking Paxil for 2 days now and just feel really weird. Kinda like it's making my symptoms worse. My eyes are more sensitive to light and feel like they are not working together to focus. I feel really dizzy and lightheaded. I feel really tired. Almost flu like without the aches. Also, my stomach has been CONSTANTLY upset. Is this normal until it gets into my system? Also, how long does it take to get into your system and start taking effect?
