Avatar n tn 9 months ago after a 6 hour car ride (again with the sitting) I got severe diarrhea but this was followed by chronic abdominal pain which to this day has not subsided. With my history Gi Doc suspected chronic pancreatitis but... ultrasound, bloodwork for Amalyse lipase, CT with contrast, then finally an MRCP were all clear. 4 years ago I had an upper GI (where they put the camera down your throat not sure what it is called).
Avatar n tn we thought it was pancreatitis, now maybe hypoglycemia.. he takes perks for painkillers and tries to eat to make his attacks go away. also on primrose oil, and pancreas, nexium, and b100 vitamins.. his attacks consist of horrible abdominal pain, severe sweating, blurred vision, severe trembling and shaking, extreme shivers and almost feeling like passing out.
Avatar n tn Hello, My wife experienced severe pancreatitis due to gallstones and was in the hospital for 3 weeks, with her gallbladder removed in the last week. She has been home from the hospital 3 weeks and has nausea and cannot tolerate much more than vegetable soup, yogurt, blueberries, and oatmeal. She is also experiencing constipation now.
Avatar n tn Hi - Is there anyone in cyperspace that has Cystic Fibrosis that is pancreate sufficient and developed pancreatitis. Would really like to chat with you. Also has anyone with pancreatitis tried antioxidant vitamins such as melatonin, Vit and selenium? Did it help? What is the "10 fingers" mentioned to manage back pain? Once your gall bladder has been taken out has anyone been prescribed Actigal? We have and don't know why since my daughter no longer has a gall bladder.
Avatar n tn Jodi, From what you have already explained, it does sound as though chronic pancreatitis may be your problem. I have CP and experienced many of the same symptoms before I was diagnosed. I still have pain, but much of my problems are controlled by a low fat diet, enzyme supplements with meals and snacks, antioxidants and vitamins, and class II narcotics when my pain episodes are unmanageable. I've pasted some information from a research source below for you to review.
611067 tn?1458595083 I know you were on a liquid diet, are you getting any vitamins in ? Can you drink Boost ? Hope they get to the bottom of this for you. Hang in there.
Avatar n tn Can no longer take digestive enzymes or even simple things like multi vitamins as it brings on very bad abdominal pain. Conclusion: When I sit it feels like my blood supply to my abdomen or something is being restricted somehow. This has caused many chronic complications. Doctors have no answers for me. Does this sound familiar to anyone??

Avatar n tn When you have villous atrophy you aren't getting the vital nutrients (amino acids and vitamins) for the building blocks for neurotransmitters. So for years i was depleted in Tryptophan which converts to Serotonin. OCD has been a big hurdle live with. But its getting better. So you should get a test for gluten sensitivity or celiac disease. I won't name a company here because it would sound like I am pushing it. You should also get a amino acid panel done to see where they are at.
Avatar n tn com online has many good recipes for strict low-fat cooking. I have had acute pancreatitis attacks, and now have chronic pancreatitis and have to maintain a diet with less than 20 grams of fat daily. I take enzymes so I can eat, and to help maintain the pain caused by eating. I have found those enzymes prescribed by a GI to be better than those found in health food stores though, as they are higher in amounts of lipase than anything that can be sold over the counter, thus more effective.
Avatar n tn faecal elastase test which was in the normal range 230 normal pancreatic function (>200 ug/g) (norm range between 200-500 ug/g) what does it seem like whats going on? how are acalculous cholecystitis/gallbladder dyskinesisi caused?
Avatar f tn My dad had pancreatitis 3 years ago this Halloween and had 3 reoccuring spells that same year. He has had his gallbladder removed thinking that this was the problem... still didn't help. It is typical for him to get so bad that he has to be admitted to the hopital every 3-5 months since the first episode of pancreatitis. Our family doctor has done very little about it and it was on my request for a ultrasound to be done since it had been 3 years since his last one.
Avatar f tn Hello Everyone, I have had Pancreatitis for 13Yrs. Off and on... My question is malabsorption can cause your ribs to cramp, as if you don't have enough Potassium? Can it also be caused by the Pancreas, they hurt bad and there is no warning. How if this is dietary do I absorb when I take enough Ultrase to kill a horse so to speak.
Avatar f tn So 1 year ago, after being in the hospital all the time with diarrhea and pancreatitis, I said no more meds. I put her on Aloe from Gastric Gold, fish oil, boswellia, vitamins, l glutamine and all symtoms stopped till 2 weeks ago when she got sick again. She said she hit her pancrease on a ride at the carnival and it started hurting. So after 5 years the doctors did an ercp and found narrow ducts.

Avatar n tn The fatigue is caused by the fact that when you have pancreatitis, the body doesn't absorb nutrients correctly, so you aren't getting the right vitamins and minerals for energy. Many of us with chronic pancreatitis take a heavy dosage of additional vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to help supplement that which our bodies don't absorb from food. I trust that your doctor has discussed your need for a strict low fat diet, no more than 20-25 grams of fat daily.
Avatar n tn No longer have a gallbladder as I had that taken out due to pancreatitis Not sure what to do at this point, or what to even tell my Doctor without sounding like a crazy hypochondriac. I don't take meds, other than vitamins. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!.
Avatar f tn Fish body oil, such as salmon oil (not cod liver oil), and antioxidants, including vitamins C and E, beta carotene, and selenium, may help reduce the risk of acute pancreatitis. Dogs with chronic pancreatitis can be deficient in B vitamins, so a B-complex supplement is also recommended. -------- Hoping that helps a little. I'll be back with more later.
Avatar f tn This past year(2013) I had a gallstone attack that landed me in the hospital with pancreatitis because the bile backed up into the pancreas. I was told by my doctor to expect green stools, it means bile is going through the system. I have found that a certain diet (not eating the things I am intolerant of) and vitamins have helped.
Avatar m tn I have had a history of digestive problems for years, mostly with loose stool, gas, acid re-flux and constant nausea. I was recently diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, and I have changed my diet dramatically. I no longer eat fatty, spicy or acidic foods, and I have cut alcohol and caffeine out of my diet completely. My current diet is now oatmeal for breakfast. Raisins, a turkey on wheat sandwich (no other toppings) and a pudding for lunch.
Avatar f tn We switched his food back to the Purina One Weight Management and also gave him Fish Oil Vitamins and sprinkled food with Olive Oil. We found this was a big no with him developing Pancreatitis and he also became jaundice and liver counts in the 1000s on blood work. He had an ultrasound to make sure he did not have any blockage, it was negative. He was sick and would not eat which is not normal for him.
Avatar m tn There are several different tests or procedures that can be done to show pancreatitis, acute or chronic. No tests are definitive for only one or the other. Tests for determining pancreatitis are, blood tests, stool tests, triglycerides tests, Xrays, ultrasounds, endoscopic ultrasounds, the secretin stimulation test, the bentiromide test (rare), CT-scans, MRCP's, MRI's and ERCP's.

Avatar n tn Malabsorption is usually only a problem with chronic pancreatitis, but not acute pancreatitis. Even then, not all chronic patients have this problem. The symptoms of chronic pancreatitis are pasted below. Some people have all the symptoms, some people just a few, each case is different, and that's why it is such a difficult condition to diagnose.
Avatar n tn A CT scan showed acute pancreatitis, pseudocyst in pancreas, and hepiatic hemangioma posterior segment right liver lobe. I had esophogitis and gastroitis. Endoscopy showed no ulcer in stomach. I had my gall bladder removed, and spent 14 days on an IV, the last 3 of which I was given solid foods, prilosec (1/day) and Bentyl (3/day). After being released from the hospital, the abdmonial pains persisted. I stopped eating solids.

Avatar n tn In February this year she was admitted to hospital with pancreatitis (amylase levels 800). Intravenous was given, ultasound ruled out gallstones, gastroscopy ruled out stomach ulcers. It was diagnosed as acute pancreatitis. She has been home since then, unable to return to her studies, with the colitis raging. The Asacol has been passing through undigested so she was switched from Asacol to Pentasa three weeks ago. Last week the pancreatitis symptoms returned.
