Avatar f tn I am trying to work but getting harder and harder. I have bills to pay I have to work. I plan going to nursing school (my dream) next April. Someone tell me something good.
287827 tn?1357564083 Can I put off the surgery off until I'm done nursing? (I nursed my daughter for 19 months and plan on nursing my son for at least a year) Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!!
Avatar n tn In March of 2003 I had an ERCP (scope down throat into gall bladder area) to unblock a plugged bile duct. The surgeon accidentally cut my pancreas and I developed severe pancreatitis and was hospitalized with no food or water and on constant morphine for 7 days. during that time it felt as though a building fell on my chest area and I constantly gasped for air and couldn't breath properly.
Avatar f tn I agree with not using the MS Contin. If you had a flare of pancreatitis, you could go to the ER. (I've never had pancreatitis, but a couple of years ago I was hospitalized and my roommate had it. I felt really bad for her. She said it was the result of a gastric bypass.) I would suggest you keep your dose consistent. Going up to nearly double the dose every night will wreak havoc with your body. Switching from Iv to pills will make it easier for you to taper.
Avatar n tn I have read alot about it and it seems risky. Says it can actually cause chronic pain and it can cause pancreatitis. I was wondering if anyone here has ever had it and how it turned out? My husband has had a liver biopsy recently and it turned out just confirming fatty liver. HIs liver enzymes are elevated and I read that could be from the sphincter of oddi dysfunction also. He has had CT scans, scopes, colonoscopy's,upper GI with small bowel follow through.
Avatar n tn And i would like to know if i can instead of the surgery do the shockwave treatment and disolving medication instead of the surgery. i know that it is not 100% accurate and the stones can come back within in 5 years but i plan to stay on a diet and never go back to my old diet. and besides if they docome back couldnt i just the shock again? and if not possible when where and do you recommend any doctors to do my surgery?
173975 tn?1216261375 I confess I haven't kept up with forum the past few months; too busy nursing myself back. Yes, i feel amazingly better, especially the psychological/mental stuff. in retrospect, as sanity slowly returns, I'm lucky I didn't murder someone while on TX. Even with the Ad's from January it still feels like i temporarily morphed into a 21st century version of Dostoevsky's the "Notes from Underground" man. "I am a mean man. I am a spiteful man. I am an unattractive man.
Avatar n tn Since then I have never been the same - I have had periods (much shorter this time) where the severe/acute symptoms come back again, and have had numerous infections including costochondritis and diverticulitis and even had to get my gallbladder removed after a sudden onset of pancreatitis. In 2007 I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, hashimoto's, IBS, and dormant ebstein-barr and HHV-6.
Avatar f tn I'm glad nursing worked out for you too. I really want to nurse. The docs actually told me it was a good thing to do. I too had migraines and they SUCK!!! It still makes me feel better to hear your story and so happy that she is doing so well. 4 months wow!!!!
10805050 tn?1420939120 Somehow when I went through 7 months in hospital and Skilled nursing facility from major Cirrhosis problems cause by Portal Hypertension, my Hep C never attacked. My viral load is extremely low at 15,283. I have never had treatment for it and my liver seems to be fighting it, the Dr. says. Of course it could pop it's nasty face at me at any given moment, so I am definitely interested in treatment.
1916673 tn?1420236870 If overweight, then gaining weight is not a good thing, as it will adversely affect the pancreatitis. It's curious that he's got pancreatitis if he's been on a low-fat diet for 3yrs. The blood result that points directly to it is the amylase, which has been consistently high on both blood results. I would raise this with your vet and please let me know what he suggests (cause, diagnosis and treatment/management advice).
Avatar f tn We were all so convinced I’d be home for it I don’t think anyone even gave a contingency plan a second thought. Now new plans are being made – it’s so difficult to disappoint a six year old child – not only did he expect his mommy home today, but he was really looking forward to the special day that had been planned, but he will still a present on the 25th we will just have to give some extra ones when we do celebrate but everyone else can get their gifts on the day we choose to celebrate.
Avatar f tn My kids are at the ER tonight with their dad (my ex). He has been a severe alcoholic for 20+ years and was diagnosed 15 months ago with Alcoholic Hepatitis and Cirrosis of the liver. He was told then that if he quit drinking, he had approx 2 years to live. He continued to drink heavily until 3 days ago, when he became too sick to drink. He has lost 40+ pounds in the past 6 months, is vomiting blood and has bloody diarrhea now.
1932256 tn?1327949940 I found a place that will take him (at no charge) into a 3-day detox for alcohol AFTER he's off the methadone, so that's our plan for now. He desperately wants off everything, but I think we have to take one thing at a time.
Avatar n tn active cirrhosis, metastatic liver tumor and pancreatitis. And the MRCP would take a look at your pancreas as well. How did your appointment with the hepatologist go? I believe H. Pylori can be a cause of ulcers. When you go on the antibiotics, you'll want to be sure and try and counter it with some acidophilus capsules (or equivalent), because antibiotics very well could make your diarrhea problem even worse, since they kill the good bacteria with the bad.
Avatar n tn I also then got Pancreatitis and was again hospitalized and again a pain pump and once again pain pills. My doctors were aware of my history of addiction and monitored me very closely. The day I delivered my daughter I was on a pain pump up to about 2 hours before the scheduled C-Section and guess what? She was okay. The hospital of course tested her for drugs in her system and to my surprise they came back negative even though I was on narcotics.
Avatar f tn Luckily with the constant monitoring of all of my liver disease issues I plan on getting a transplant in 6 months or so. The other part of it is the support we get from those around us. It too is vital. As liver disease progresses we become more and more helpless and capable of taking care of ourselves. Many of us will vomit blood, get infections in abdomens or go unto a coma from HE. Without the help of others any one of these conditions can be fatal.

Avatar n tn Each time I got it, it was a result of severe stress (once in nursing school and this time when my husband lost his job). Hope this helps. After experiencing the four worst months of my life due to this illness that was undiagnosed for just as long, I pray I can help others by suggesting that they check this out with their doctor.
385668 tn?1301797480 C's. Last year, severe abdominal pain (pancreatitis from my gallbladder) landed me in the hospital for 5 days, and that in itself was an experience, being on the other side of the IV it's no secret that docs, nurses, and other medical professionals can sometimes make the worst patients. I was determined not to be a pest....and the nurses were so thrilled with me...I even emptied and kept track of my own pee bucket.
1932256 tn?1327949940 The whole point of going back on the methadone was to allow him to stabilize from the meds at the hospital and I thought the plan was to slowly wean him off? Isn't that still the plan? What does he say about all of that?? And lastly, I am a HUGE animal lover and it's disturbing to me that he's taking out his moods on your pets. There is NO excuse for that - EVER. If he doesn't know how to be around the dogs, then he doesn't have the RIGHT to be around them. Enough said on that one.
Avatar f tn My mom suddenly and unexpectedly died 2 weeks ago It has been a horrible couple of weeks. I am extremely worried about my dad and how he will cope. He keeps saying he is ok but I know better than that because we are having the worst days of out lives. We have a great support system of friends, however, all I want is my mom to be back. She had not been ill and stopped talking and just died. I never expected to be so young (I am a college student) and going through this.
541150 tn?1306037443 Abby - this is Icepick and Anakin. Yes, we can type. We are cats, not dogs. We would like you to send us some treats because we're tired of the ones our humans gives us. Anything with a smelly fish odor is fine. You do this for us or we'll be visiting you in Florida and will stay all winter. Must go. Anakin is playing in the garbage again. Your mom takes good care of you - good food and lots of attention. Have you asked her for caviar and champagne yet?
Avatar n tn The risk of permanent nerve injury outweighs the benefit of IV insertion in these areas. Standards of Practice The Infusion Nursing Standards of Practice can be used in court to determine whether a nurse delivered appropriate infusion care to a patient. The standards state “site selection should avoid areas of joint flexion.”1 The wrist and antecubital fossa are areas of joint flexion.
Avatar n tn I now have pancreatitis that they say usually stems from alcoholism. I don't drink a drop, I'm confident that the acetametaphine in the Norco/Vicodin is what is causing this. The biggest problem I have with quiting is that I really enjoy eating my Norco. I only eat one and a half or two at a time, but it's like every hour or so. I want to quit so I don't leave my kids without a dad and my wife without a husband.
6839387 tn?1385681693 Since nutrition is so out of whack on a kidney failure diet, look into senior dog vitamins with low or even no phosphorus added. Mostly you're looking at heavy-duty nursing over the next weeks or months. I didn't realize how focused I'd become on my dog's every move until after she was gone. It was worth all the stress and anxiety and I couldn't have done anything differently. We kept her pretty comfortable for several months right up to the last couple of days.
Avatar n tn im no doctor by ne means but a lot of what u guys are feeling i have experienced as well i have not been to a doctor but plan to soon to just rules some things out but i also thought that u know poor diets and abnormal blood flow can cause these things and maybe some of you are goin to the wrong kind of doctors many things like backs necks ribs can be out of place and can cause a lot of these syptoms and things like over workin yourself and not getttin the resrt u need exspecially ones with kids
Avatar n tn At Petsmart Banfield, where I worked, we gave 3 at time sometimes because the customers plan offered it. I could not believe it. I quit because it was against my morals to give shots like this. What I know is this, if you must give a vaccine, give 1 at a time and wait 2 months for the body to recover. Do not give the combo-type vaccines. I only give the 3 years rabies to my dogs and we all know that the shot is really good for 7 years.
