He honestly did not have many symptoms until the very end now the worst part. He moaned some but only the weight loss until he started now being as active. In less than a week it progressed to he is laying flat no movement & then finally the vomiting & diarrhea. He wasn't even running a temperature until now. They tried pain medication at first in the pill form but moved over to putting it in his IV.
Im wondering what causes that especially in pancreatitis? I loss alot of weight a year ago, was real sick with abnormal bruising and weakness, falling down, ect, this was before pancreas started acting up again, prior to that I had only one acute episode of pancreatitis. Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver.
It sounds like your husband has at least pancreatitis based on CT, but it is unusual that the other blood work was normal. Usually pancreatitis presents with elevated amylase and/or lipase. Significant weight loss is concerning for cancer. Jaundice, dark urine, and light stools would also be concerning if present.
We are going to have an EUS next, but he continues to have severe pain and continuing weight loss. He is down about 35 lbs in 4 months- even when he has a good week or two and he eats normally he doesn't put any weight back on. He is having some bowel issues, mainly constipation, as well as a lot of belching. Our GI doc said have EUS done and go from there, but I'm at a loss of what else it could be besides chronic pancreatitis.
Crohn’s disease is a difficult entity to diagnose and can cause weight loss. Along with gut symptoms skin disorders and arthritis too are commonly seen with Crohn’s. An upper GI series using barium dye is done to see the condition of small intestines. The degree of involvement of the large and small intestine may vary from person to person. A biopsy is the most confirmatory.
I'm having a pain, stomach cramps and diarrhea/loose stool problem myself. But also on the right and no swelling that I've seen. The doctor thought I might have a problem with my pancreas today with pressing and ordered blood testing and x-rays.
I've had extreme pain in my stomach on eating in the past and was diagnosed with gastritis, advised to follow a clear liquid diet I think it was for 72 hours.
However, last year I began to develop symptoms of pain in the center and left quadrant of my upper abdomen, nausea, mild weight loss. I would feel sick if I ate and sick if I didn't. I cut back to a very limited diet of fresh cooked foods, mainly poultry and vegetables, fruit and flat breads. I have improved symptom-wise except when under stress. However, my Amylase continues to be elevated and I am concerned, as is my doctor, about chronic pancreatitis leading to pancreatic cancer.

Pain feels strongest 2-3 hours after eating.
Pain feels somewhat less immediately after eating.
Sometimes feel nauseous, usually when pain is most severe or sometimes after eating. On a few occasions, I was nauseous all day long.
Sometimes taste acid, usually when nauseous.
Mostly yellow stools (no diarrhea).
Louder than normal digestive noises.

ima 33y/o male ive been having oily stools for almost 5 months,weight loss of almost 50 lbs total despite having a healthy appetite,mild but constant middle to lower back pain,Constant burping and bloated have had 2 abdominal CT scans one without contrast and one with oral and IV contrast Both Came back clean ,no sign of Cancer or cancer spread as i am truly convinced i have Pancreatic cancer ,my back bothers me more sitting in a chair or laying down,the last CT scan i had was in mid july,also
My cat was DX w pancreatitius & met all symptoms for a few weeks / the meds worked but it got bad. Then a big turn happened. He started eating & now won't stop! His constant meowing is driving me crazy.he lost weight whwhen really sick. He is still underweight but why does he demand food 24/7? I'm so stressed out I can't think straight. Upset too if his DX was wrong we spent so much $$ on labs/meds. Now I'm not sure/don't think he has it! Help.
Opus88 and PikaPika88 ~ My kitty was just diagnosed with Kidney problems and from what I've read (and it's A LOT trust me lol) one of the main issues for them is keeping their weight up and keeping their appetite normal. So I've read that for these cats basically just let them eat as much as they will cause they have issues that normal healthy kittys don't have. Unless of course it's causing problems and then maybe your vet would advise you to cut back.
She has been struggling with loss of appetite (weight loss) and vomiting. I have been giving her daily Sub-Q fluids, Epikitin, Famotidine (10mg), and she is on an antibiotic for her UTI--for two days an appetite stimulant. Her blood was tested again 23 days later and her BUN 87, Creatinine 6.2, and Phosphorus 9.8
Her diet started out as Hills diet G/D (not K/D because of her pancreatitis). She has lost ~4.5 pounds since she was diagnosed.
I have been having symptoms of a Crohn's flare, severe nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss of 18 lbs in last 6 weeks,steatorrhea, pain in mid chest and right upper quadrant. Had CT scan 2 weeks ago which showed significant inflammation in terminal ileum and old pancreatitis with calcification. Gastroscopy last week showed oesphagitis.Biopsies taken. MRI scan Nov 2007 showed two strictures in small intestine.
In fact, very atypical since appetite excellent most of the time despite weight loss while on normal wet food ( refused to eat the Hills) in last few months. Hyperthyroidism ruled out. Owner noticed lethargy and bloodtests revealed falling HCT 18% and moderately low Albumin. Anaemia though not as low previosly had resolved when pancreatitis treated-likewise albumin. Elevated GGT also noted in bloodtest the same week. Renal levels, though still within range also elevated since last tests.
