Avatar n tn s probably a good idea to follow up with your family doctor for a complete workup. Unless you have been experiencing significant weight loss, hair loss, or fatigue, I would not worry too much about cancer yet.
Avatar f tn Side effects to inflammation may include temporary hair loss. If severe outbreaks are untreated for extended intervals, permanent hair loss may result, because of damage to hair follicles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seborrhoeic_dermatitis Soaps and detergents such as sodium laureate sulfate may precipitate a flare-up, as they strip moisture from the top layers of the skin, and the drying property of these can cause flare-ups and may worsen the condition.
Avatar f tn He honestly did not have many symptoms until the very end now the worst part. He moaned some but only the weight loss until he started now being as active. In less than a week it progressed to he is laying flat no movement & then finally the vomiting & diarrhea. He wasn't even running a temperature until now. They tried pain medication at first in the pill form but moved over to putting it in his IV.
Avatar f tn edu/a_to_z/chronic-pancreatitis-a-to-z I do not blame you one bit for trying to find other avenues to explore besides chronic pancreatitis. The treatent for that is just managing symptoms. Does your husband journal food intake to get a handle on any triggers to avoid?
Avatar f tn I was wondering, because a friend of mine has shown symptoms of hyperthyroidism, after I had done some research, and I plan on urging them to get this checked out. I also know that this person's father has pancreatitis. I read that thyroid disorders can be hereditary. Do you think that this has anything to do with the possible hyperthyroidism, the association between pancreatitis and thyroid disorders? I can't find much about it. And are thyroid disorders linked with diabetes?
Avatar f tn Sept 8th and will bring this new symptom to her with a bag full of hair, just to show her how much Im losing a day. Does this hair loss have anything to do with Crohn's disease??
Avatar n tn I had to put my 11 year old Llhasa apso to sleep yesterday because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in so much pain that they could not guarantee that he would survive even with treatment. It came on suddenly...he was fine Saturday but began throwing up in the middle of the night and continued...he couldn't even hold down water and was very weak. I took him into the veterinary hospital on Sunday and he was too weak to come home.
Avatar f tn You may have chronic pancreatitis. Find a biliary specialist soon. You should get testing to determine if you have this or not. If you do they will advise you what to do to help.
Avatar n tn However, last year I began to develop symptoms of pain in the center and left quadrant of my upper abdomen, nausea, mild weight loss. I would feel sick if I ate and sick if I didn't. I cut back to a very limited diet of fresh cooked foods, mainly poultry and vegetables, fruit and flat breads. I have improved symptom-wise except when under stress. However, my Amylase continues to be elevated and I am concerned, as is my doctor, about chronic pancreatitis leading to pancreatic cancer.
Avatar f tn My thyroid levels are normal taking armour and still having hair loss. Could it be the medications? I was on all the different thyroid meds. and still had hair loss. Would anyone be able to help?
Avatar f tn If it is the bile ducts you can have stents put in. Bile duct problems can cause pancreatitis or vice versa. I am a long time sufferer from pancreatitis and sod. If you have problems with backed up bile ducts it could certainly have caused the sepsis you had. IT will push toxins in to the blood stream and make you sick. An ultrasound will be better in finding a blockage in your duct. But the best way is an ercp.
Avatar n tn It sounds like your husband has at least pancreatitis based on CT, but it is unusual that the other blood work was normal. Usually pancreatitis presents with elevated amylase and/or lipase. Significant weight loss is concerning for cancer. Jaundice, dark urine, and light stools would also be concerning if present.
Avatar f tn For some reason the immune system attacks the hair follicles and destroys them which is what leads to the hair loss. My best friend has it and she has no hair anywhere! Not really sure if it is thyroid realated but I don't think so. With the thyroid you do lose hair but not leading to baldness.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply, my dr has not ordered the pancreatic enzyme labs yet, she feels it is GERD related. I suppose without any other symptoms of pancreatitis it would be low. I am a very anxious person so it's most likely a mixture of the two (GERD and Anxiety). I have no fever, no vomitting, no jaundice, I am at a loss.
Avatar f tn ve ever had is a (drum roll please)...................CRAMP????? Hahahahaha, dipshit! All my symptoms point to Pancreatitis. I am going to my regular GI Doc on Tues, excited to maybe get some answers. I also "googled" the results of my Transvaginal Ultrasound, ha! I seem to have a "Complex" cyst on my left ovary. Those are the kind that have to be evaluated right away and removed, they are not good!
1341040 tn?1276317702 YES! I forgot to mention this bizarre symptom in my post too! I've had baaad hair loss, to the point where my hair is only 1/3 as thick as it used to be. It seems to just come out in clumps & if very scary. My skin also sheds too, like a bad sunburn, it peels off in sheets, but seems worse when I'm having these EBV symptoms. The skin shedding & hair loss often happen together in cycles. It's really worrisome I know.
Avatar n tn It would be very helpful if we could have a look at your thyroid related test results from the time you were feeling good, and also from the time when you dosage was reduced. You also need to know your test results from Aug. It is a good idea to always get a copy of blood test results and write on there how you were feeling at the time, and your med and supplement dosages. Those reports are a very useful history for future reference.
Avatar f tn Hi there. How are you feeling now? It's been a few days. When the corona virus has passed, you may want to have an endoscopy. This is how my ulcer was found. In general, pancreatitis is typically an acute condition. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pancreatitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20360227 Normally you'd recover from that especially if you laid off the triggers. However, if it continues, a peptic ulcer would be more of a suspicion. https://www.healthline.
Avatar f tn I am a 55 year old female with loss of hair on her forearms and eyebrows. I have a some thinning at the temples. My TSH is 2.570 - which my GP says is normal. He thinks hair loss may be a result of stress, however, I have not been under any more stress than normal life. I have had high cholesterol and osteoporosis for many years, which have not responded to meds. What do you think? Can you have a normal TSH and still have a thyroid issue?
