Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis symptoms jaundice

pancreatitis

Avatar n tn I have had acute pancreatitis and now have chronic pancreatitis, so maybe I can answer some of your questions. Some symptoms of pancreatitis include a swollen and tender abdomen, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, sometimes a fever and rapid pulse. Weight loss is frequent. The nausea, pain and vomiting often follows a meal of some sort, and can be triggered more severely by foods heavy in fats. Often there is pain in the abdomen and between the ribs at the base of the sternum.
Avatar n tn (We manage it very well with diet and Vetsulin but it takes dedication, a rigid feeding schedule and 2 shots a day.) Keep an eye out for the symptoms once your pal is well. Early symptoms include increased drinking, iurinating more (accidents may be a sign), weight loss, increased appetite, dehydration and sudden cataract formation.
Avatar n tn Thanks a lot for your info, do you have the same symptoms as I am? i was actually seeing a good doctor specialize d in liver, the thing that stuck on my mind is the 3 times jaundice...
1409228 tn?1282347063 My doctor diagnosed me with chronic pancreatitis but now he is thinking it may be cholestasis. From what I am finding on this is that I would get cholestasis from the pancreatotis....
Avatar n tn That said, from the information I've read, Pancreatic cancer is often hard to diagnosis and small tumors can be missed on CT scans. I'm just looking for advice from anyone familiar with the symptoms of chronic pancreatitis, or PC, who might be able to offer any advice. I've got an appt w/a gastro. in December but that's pretty far away, and in the meantime, I feel kind of helpless as the abdominal/back pain, floating stools, and fatigue aren't going anywhere.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply, my dr has not ordered the pancreatic enzyme labs yet, she feels it is GERD related. I suppose without any other symptoms of pancreatitis it would be low. I am a very anxious person so it's most likely a mixture of the two (GERD and Anxiety). I have no fever, no vomitting, no jaundice, I am at a loss.
Avatar m tn A few symptoms that are only present when I have pancreatitis flare-ups are small black specks in my stool or sometimes even small red spots. I don't know these are of any concern as related to blood or just rather undigested food from my pancreases inability to perform fully. Most of my questions to the doctors go unanswered and other symptom explanations are shrugged off.
Avatar n tn Feel free to post again if you have any more questions. What are the symptoms of chronic pancreatitis? The symptoms are very variable. Pain occurs in most patients at some stage of the disease. This may vary in intensity from mild to severe. It may last for hours or sometimes days at a time and may require strong painkillers to control it. It often radiates through to the back and can sometimes be relieved by crouching forward.
902019 tn?1249865014 Weird that your dad doesn't have symptoms other than the resolved pain and bloating. Further investigations would be good idea with such an unusual presentation. Autoimmune pancreatitis is often mistaken for pancreatic cancer and IgG4 test will isolate AIP.
Avatar n tn Other than that her symptoms go more with pancreatitis. Pain above her left ribcage that goes to her back - pain about her shoulder blades. When we saw the Dr.he had a complete blood work report in his hand and it showed raised amylase (131) and lipase levels (718) which I always thought showed pancreatitis. When I questioned him he said some people just have high levels and it is normal for them. I don't buy that.
Avatar m tn I have only two symptoms of pancreatitis and do not have nausea, headaches, jaundice, fatty stool, vomiting, constipation, low B/P, rapid heart rate, fever, sweats or an inflamed pancreas 4. The pain location minus the banding effect to my back is located directly on top of the location I had a pyloric stenosis surgery (and two consecutive repairs) 5. The pain can start immediately when I eat and at night.
Avatar n tn This sounds more like an acute Pancreatitis attack. Chronic Pancreatitis, to my knowledge, does not have the type symptoms you indicate. Acute pancreatitis has high levels of amalase and lipase and is sometimes very critical as this one appears to be. Do a search on the web for acute Pancreatitis for more information than you can read. Then do one on Chronic Pancreatitis and see the differences. Hope things improve.
658828 tn?1225050195 I have been reading online and think I may have Pancreatitis? Are these symptoms consistent with Pancreatitis? I also have read about Fibromyalgia as well b/c these autoimmune diseases seem to occur together, but I just cant get myself to think that this is just a muscoskeletal pain problem especially since its mainly in the area where my kidneys are located. I have an appt with a GI dr next week so I am hoping i can get some answers.
Avatar n tn Any help in identifing what might be causing my husband to have the following problems would be greatly appreciated! He presented to the ER on Sept 15th with severe epigastric pain. Lipase was 11,000 & amylase was 5,331, liver enzymes normal, glucose normal, and triglycerides normal, Other abnormal labs included RBC 3.96(L), HGB 12.0(L), HCT 34.7(L), lymphs 15.1(L), ABS monocyte 0.6(H). He was admitted with acute pancreatis. Put NPO/given IV's and pain meds and sent home in 4 days.
Avatar n tn The location of your pain sounds very much like where mine was located before my first attack of acute pancreatitis. I now have chronic pancreatitis. I also had the yellow stools, either fatty or so oily that they would float. Also had the weight loss and inability to eat. Back ache is also a common complaint, but not everyone gets it. You need a second opinion.
Avatar m tn The pain has decreased a great deal, BUT my daddy was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and he had no symptoms until he became jaundice. If your doctors will not do anymore tests, find one who will. Anything with the pancreas is so serious. We didn't find daddy's until it went into his liver. Call the American Cancer Society, and they will tell you doctors that will give you tests for anything having to do with your pancreas.
Avatar m tn Your persisting symptoms nausea and vomiting could indicate a viral gastroenteritis. The other causes could be jaundice if there is yellowish discoloration of skin, food poisoning if the symptoms occurred shortly after taking food, peptic ulcer disease and sometimes cholecystitis and pancreatitis. Hope a urine analysis did not reveal an infection, as urinary tract infection can cause these symptoms. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Since July 1994 I have spent months in Duke, John Hopkins and several other hospitals for pancreatitis and elevated (in the 1000's) liver enzymes. I have had 5-6 ercps and several sphyncterotomis(liver). Since Nov. 97 I have spent 90-95% of the time in the hospital and in extreme pain. Until March (after 4 years of agony)there was no known cause for my illness. In March a gastrologist found that contrary to former test results I now had sludge, silt or something in my liver.
Avatar f tn chronic abdominal pain, Chronic nausea that would occur from eating (now it doesn't even matter what kind of food, it just happens, also vomited only once because it does not help), sharp chest pains (which began happening all of the sudden), low grade fevers, nausea that gets worse late at night to early morning, dry heaving, cramping, and lost about 15 pounds, fatigue, absolutely no energy anymore (i'm about 23 years old).
Avatar n tn I mean I know it is silent until symptoms present but if these are symptoms presenting such as bleeding hemorhoids and such would it not be reflectd in thigns such as Liver function, not just enzymes etc...?? I just had a little baby and stress is building so I need to get an understandign of the situation as it were...I got panicked about the fact that my Platelets and WBC ahve been trending downwards in 3 test since 2001 but Internal Doc said not to worry and Hep just said to watch..
903531 tn?1275393973 If the GB is diseased, no matter how healthy he eats he will STILL have to get it removed, since the GB, once symptomatic, starts becoming considerably more sensitive, to the point where even no-fat meals may cause symptoms. Ruptured gallbladders are not common. However, they can be deadly.
Avatar n tn I can be tired after 12 hours sleep! Can I be suffering symptoms from my thallassemia. Does any one else feel the same way that I do? This is a little bit hard for me, but I don't want to complain.
Avatar n tn Hi I have been sick for 6months after being admitted with severe left sided abdominal pain and vomiting 6 months ago.
Avatar n tn Hi, From the research I have done, the chances are greater of you getting Diabetes Mellitus, pancreatic tumors, pancreatic cancer, cystic fibrosis, if you have been diagnosed with and have chronic pancreatitis. The symptoms of pancreatic cancer are similar to that of chronic pancreatitis except with jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes) and dramatic weight loss. Go to your favorite search engine and type in Pancreatic cancer and it should bring up some useful sites.

Avatar n tn I experienced this discomfort for months along w/the IBS symptoms below before going on my diet, and as I ate better, my discomfort gradually went away as I lost the weight. However, this past Christmas, I gained a few (3-5) of these pounds back. I ate more carbs, and drank a bit more than usual given the various social functions I attended.
