Avatar n tn That was a little over a year ago and since then they have both become REALLY painful and flare up alot more. I saw a doctor here in Germany recently and he just gave me Motrin. It hurts really bad and I'm wondering if there is anything else I can do.
Avatar n tn I feel that you should consult your doctor and talk about this allergy and the option of changing the implant as avoidance is the only treatment for metal allergies. Desensitization techniques, such as allergy shots, also are not effective for metal allergies. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
1391401 tn?1280161900 Pain management is kind of a last resort when nothing else can be done to help the cause for the pain. If surgery or some other treatment might help you, it might be beneficial to get an neurosurgeon's opinion. Surgical techniques have improved tremendously in recent years. My sister just had multi-level cervical fusion with plating a few weeks ago and she's doing great.

Avatar f tn After being told I had a ganglion cyst in the acetabulum, possibly torn labrum in the hip joint and osteoarthritis I was told I needed hip replacement, another doc then said he could fix the problem with arthroscopic surgery and bone graft. Had surgery Dec 2006 - not a great experience, could write a book titled 'never have surgery on Friday afternoon' but that's another story! Have not been able to walk well since the surgery - lots of pain in both legs - upper thighs and groin and knees.
408795 tn?1324939275 If the diuretic isn't helping the swelling, could the swelling from another cause, such as osteoarthritis? I'm pretty sure that if lasix "stops working" they can prescribe a diuretic pill for you that contains more than one type of diuretic. There are 3 basic types of diuretics; each of which work in a different way. Attached is a link describing diuretics by Mayo Clinic. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/diuretics/HI00030 Good luck with this.
Avatar n tn I've been waiting 3 years for disc replacement surgery to be a little more mainstream treatment. I'm interested in hearing anything about this procedure for the C-spine. I'm considered a surgery candidtate for c-5/6 and c-6/7 levels.
Avatar n tn In Germany they were called "cold shakes" as they would readily melt in cold water- get the picture? Not that I would ever do such a thing but I have witnessed it. Left to the inexperienced the cold shake tablets could end you up in the morgue via OD express!
Avatar n tn Well, now said tumor was taken out and supp. low grade bone marrow cancer was the diag. for now. Lucky with no chemo/rad. treatment. But, MSK installed Titanium rods (2) of them and used this cement. I've had installed over 15 mos. Now, since May 15th. I've been having fainting spells. My nose is numb my hands get ice cold. My blood pressure drops and my breathing in very shallow and slow and your heart just feels like it's not doing well.
Avatar f tn I began taking them 3 years ago for back pain, then osteoarthritis of my hands. I have had abdominal operations in that time as well, which kept the game going. I started with taking 2 7.5 mg pills a day. Then my doctor thought I should be on a more "normal" dose and upped it to 3 a day. Good for me. At first the pills helped the pain, then I started taking them to get a project or cleaning done or to go out with friends.
Avatar f tn one is IV lidocaine therapy which non of the doctors I know use this treatment even those it is considered the best treatment out so far. I guess I am looking for anyone who knows or has treated any patient or if they know of doctors in or around Boston, mass that treat Dercum's.
Avatar n tn Just dropped in after kicking about 5 or 6 months ago. I started on tramadol for osteoarthritis pain and was on trammies for approx. 18 months before I wanted my life back. I was at 14 -20 pills a day (700 -1000 mg.) just to be "normal" and was going to 3 different docs to obtain that amount.
Avatar n tn For the past several years I've had long periods (upwards of 6 months at a time) of excruciating burning/tearing pain in various tendons or ligaments when stretched. The first occurrence was in my right knee. If I bent my knee near its maximum extent (such as when kneeling, crouching or climbing into bed), I experienced an incredibly painful tearing/burning sensation in the area of my patellar tendon.
Avatar n tn I have already been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis ((degenerative arthritis) is a joint disease caused by the breakdown and loss of the cartilage of one or more joints.)). I feel quite sure this is a symptom of it, but with the pain I am having in that leg at the hip and the vibrations down the leg, I need relief, not diagnosis. I am already taking arthritis medication, though it appears that may need to try another type to address this issue.
Avatar n tn Hello Everyone, I'm 53, dx with fibromyalgia and rather severe osteoarthritis. I reckon the burning is the osteo and anxiety about the pain creating mild depression. For severe attacks I take mobic 7.5 for a few days to sleep and then wean into paracetomal b4 bed. I'm also on low-dose nortryptylene for the fibro (10 mg) and when I increase it even slightly (to 15 mg) that also helps with the pain so I can sleep. I'm doing my best to maintain exercise but have drastically slowed down.
Avatar n tn It started in my left sholderblade then went to the neck, and then the left arm.The pain would shoot down my left arm.I tried severale Docters and i think every form of treatment possible.Therapy, shots in the spine you name it.I would tell you Go to a great nerosurgon and ask for a MRI.This will show pinched nerves.Just like what you more than likely have. This is why when you breath it hurts.I let myself go to long and my nearve in my left arm was cut almost into.
Avatar f tn It doesn't look like there are any cures for it and no treatment that really works! I'm so tired of not sleeping at night and sometimes the extreme itching & tingling burning sensations make me cry! Nothing seems to work. My dermatologist gave me a steroid cream to use and Hydroxyzine pills to help me sleep. They worked the first night, but for some reason since then have not worked at all. I'm exhausted and frustrated with this horrible ailment!
Avatar n tn The only thing broken in that exam room was the doc's broken English. (He was from Germany) Anything you learn, I'd be interested to hear about. Thanks and good luck.
551343 tn?1506834118 I am two weeks into Doxycycline treatment that will last a month and will follow-up from there. It's a scary yet positive prognosis as with the right doctors I can most likely be treated aggressively and reduce the symptoms I feel on a daily basis. Thank you for reading my story.
Avatar f tn (more info. with SYMPTOMS / CAUSES / DIAGNOSES / TREATMENT etc.) http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=375 We all experience a very fine tremor all the time we are awake as our body goes about its daily functions. This will be the slight tremor you see when you put out your hands for example. It is known as physiological tremor and is normal. From time to time, this everyday level of tremor can increase so that it becomes more noticeable.
363682 tn?1299492962 Strangely enough, I have had chiropractic treatment 'on and off' for lower back pain that began (as I thought) as a pulled muscle on the middle left side just above the buttocks. Since this treatment, although much better, the back pain is still nagging around following any lifting/bending - but, with hindsight, the onset of the back problem may well also coincide with the onset of these headaches.
Avatar n tn I’ll suggest getting an MRI of the spine done to confirm the diagnosis. In case, the nerve compression is confirmed, then the further treatment will depend upon the extent of compression. The treatment can be surgical/medical depending upon the severity. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn I am a 28/female prescribed Topamax in June to help with meningitis headaches but have remained on Topamax for severe chronic headache treatment as well. I also take Wellbutrin for depression so I was nervous when trying Topamax knowing it could effect my treatment for depression.
Avatar n tn I also had this same operation as the rest of you--donor bone (C5-C6), osteoarthritis in the rest of the cervical spine. I don't understand how this is happening. I have always exercised and follow a balanced diet. My Neurologist seemed offended and kept repeating that the surgery was a sucess. I agree the surgery was a sucess, I have no pain in the front of my neck and have good mobility. Before surgery, I was myleopathic and was losing bladder and bowel control.
