1459410 tn?1285695005 I have taken ibuprofen for weeks at a time in the past for the osteoarthritis in my jaws. I try to take it sparingly for it now. But I get frequent heartburn and was recently put on cytotec generic, which is supposed to help with stomach lining. I have tried acupuncture, which I thought helped some, herbal heat pack, ice, valium, ibuprofen and wear a flat-planed splint for my jaw osteoarthritis.
Avatar f tn My dad is 45 and some morning when he wakes up and throughout the day his hands are so swollen and bent looking he cant even use them. He soaks them in hot water and they hurt him really bad. I cant get him to go to the doctor because he is so stubborn. He is a handyman and i dont know if its just because he has used his hands so much in his life or if he has a bad case of arthritis. I am really worried about him does anyone know whats going on?
Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
Avatar f tn Yes- and some of these suggestions are for more than just the bad days (such as the soft diet, for example): A) Soft diet, avoiding nuts unless you crush them to powder or eat nut butter, raw carrots, chewing gum, chewy candy, granola bars, steak, and anything else that takes a lot of chewing B) Making a conscious effort to relax the muscles in your face, use moist heat (or not, if that gives you a migraine/headache), C) Use a wrap around ice pak (velcro cover to keep it on in either the po

Avatar f tn Hello My Xray showed Osteoarthritis in my fingers and wrists. I knew I had Osteoarthritis in my fingers but not in my wrists. Is it unusual to have OA in wrists? http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff168/kjl07/Osteoarthritis/IMG_2638.

209987 tn?1451935465 My mom says that her Osteoarthritis does NOT cause her hands to become red, hot, and swollen every morning. She says they become stiff, swollen, and painful. I just read elsewhere that her symptoms are typical of osteoarthritis...mine are not. In fact, the article said that red and hot are not signs of osteoarthritis at all, but they could be symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, major organs shutting down, allergies, etc. My doctor looked at my hands one day and said that I had osteoarthritis...
Avatar m tn t think that is what you are looking for. What symptoms are you experiencing now? What treatment has the doctor prescribed? What area of your body is effected?
Avatar m tn I was hoping for a response from a doctor. The pain is getting worse in my hands and feet and I'm now having some occasional pain in my elbows, knees. The joints don't really feels stiff, just painful to flex. I'm also feeling some pain and kind of a numb/weak feeling in my ankles. Is is common for osteoarthritis to spread quickly like this? I'm just worried it's something more serious.
Avatar m tn Back in July 2013, I developed pain in both thumbs while playing my banjo. I had recently started new playing techniques on the banjo with both hands. I am 48 years old. I've been to a hand therapist and she believe it is some type of repetitive stress injury and since then I've only play a little and have used splints and exercises etc. I feel things have been getting better but slowly. Recently, I went to a sports medicine hand doctor and he had said I have osteoarthritis.
Avatar n tn well my hands swell up but it doesnt bother me i just feel them a little tight for more questions please contact me
Avatar n tn i am in school for cosmotology and i have noticed that when i am styling hair or doing anything that involves tedious concentration, both of my hands tend to cramp up and go numb for long periods of time, it is painful much like a foot cramp or spasm but its starting to happen more and more. My hands also shake a lot, and is uncontrollable always. I do not have any health problems that i know of however my grandmother has severe osteoarthritis and i am worried that i may be at risk.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the comment. Ordinarily, I would say you are right to follow doctor recommendation first. However, I have read about some very nasty side affects associated with Fosamax and am quite concerned about taking it. Do not have bad osteoarthritis, just trying to keep bones strong. I read about Osteo K in a very reputable magazine (Bottom Line) in May 09. They were very positive about it.
Avatar n tn I am taking hydrocondone for severe degenerated osteoarthritis and serum resistant rheumtoid arthritis. I have three big neck surgeries and a spine no one wants to touch. My feet are in such bad shape walking is becoming an effort. But I refuse to just sit down and hold my hands. My PC mentioned the suboxone and I have not heard of it being good for this. I worked with a Dr. that help pts detox off of drugs with suboxone.

Avatar f tn t made for my kind of arthritis. Do you have to have the factor in order to be diagnosed with rh. My hands resemble rh hands. What's going on.?
Avatar m tn I also had some other symptoms such as dry eyes and mouth, both of which I had had for years. I also had a positive ANA. I waited for several months after treatment and then saw a Rheumatologist in July 2013. I told her I was concerned that I had an autoimmune disorder. She ran many specific blood tests, about 34 or so, testing for autoimmune disorders. Most were negative but the Sjogren's test was positive.
Avatar f tn Steroids and NSAIDs are the mainstay of medical treatment. Apart from fibromyalgia multiple joint pain with cold hands and finger tips is seen in hypothyroidism, low Vitamin D levels, Low Vit B12 levels, anemia, and Hasimotos thyroiditis.
Avatar f tn Hi... I was diagnosed with ostearthritis & fibromyalgia a few years ago...and have been taking mobic since then, which has worked. About a month ago, the mobic didn't seem to be working as well.. my hands were hurting a lot at work... so I went back to my dr & he changed my medicine to relafen for the osteoarthritis & lyrica for the fibromyalgia. Although the lyrica seems to work, I'm not liking the side effects, puffy hands & feet & eye twitching...
Avatar n tn I have Osteoarthritis. I've had it for over 20 yeras. Its in my hands. I recently moved to the CSRA area of South Carolina. I have been to FOUR doctors here. They dont listen. They mess with my high blood pressure, my pain management, and Asperger's Syndrone medication. The results have been catastrophic. They want to try all kinds of things, and Im tired of it. I want to go back to the meds that WORK.
