748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar f tn I would not recommend surgery while undergoing treatment for Hep C. Treatment drugs will lower his white count and likely cause some anemia, both of which could make surgery more risky. Also, depending upon the exact stage of his liver damage, a surgeon may or may not be willing to do the surgery. Surgery can cause the liver to decompensate (stop working properly), so usually a surgeon will need a hepatologist to approve the patient for surgery before agreeing to do it.
Avatar m tn As OA progresses, the affected joints appear larger, are stiff and painful, and usually feel worse, the more they are used throughout the day, thus distinguishing it from rheumatoid arthritis. There is no laboratory or pathological definition of osteoarthritis, and therefore no accepted laboratory tests to diagnose it. Diagnosis can often be made with reasonable certainty by clinical examination. Confirmation can be done through x-rays.
3134561 tn?1342629375 Hip replacement surgery is one of the most prescribed treatments for hip problems. The Stryker hip replacement recall broadens definition of metal-on-metal hip. Avatar f tn I'm willing to travel anywhere for a more clear understanding of this illness and a better treatment plan. In August I had no symptoms. I was healthy, busy and active. The tingling and numbness began on the left side of my face the day after a root canal where I had an abcessed tooth. Then the symptoms migrated all over my body and developed into these seizure like episodes which I have come to know as syncope and I now struggle with, shortness of breath.
748543 tn?1463449675 I went to yoga class for a few years and wore my splint at night off and on for several years, but eventually I stopped each. He did mention that I would have a risk of developing osteoarthritis later in life in my right jaw. Forward on to 2016 and I started to notice my neck and shoulders tightening. I do not know if there is an association but last summer I did fall off a boat and hit my head on a wood dock .....I ended up cracking the 2x4 where my head landed....
238010 tn?1420409872 Doses but as I think most importent lengt of treatment ( the wart theori ) and the study posted by drofi very much confirme my believe. Good luck on your ongoing tx, could that ND mean no differens.
447130 tn?1225474466 Thanks, I got the feeling it was temporary. I hope the treatment works!! Thank You.
Avatar f tn After being told I had a ganglion cyst in the acetabulum, possibly torn labrum in the hip joint and osteoarthritis I was told I needed hip replacement, another doc then said he could fix the problem with arthroscopic surgery and bone graft. Had surgery Dec 2006 - not a great experience, could write a book titled 'never have surgery on Friday afternoon' but that's another story! Have not been able to walk well since the surgery - lots of pain in both legs - upper thighs and groin and knees.
356518 tn?1322267242 Chronic Pain is a very complex issue and varies with each of us. The definition of Neural Plasticity is the ability of the brain and/or certain parts of the nervous system to adapt to new conditions, such as an injury. The research by various medical facilities and medical research groups is even more complex. Results and focus of these research studies vary. This is a very exciting time in the area of Chronic Pain Research.
Avatar n tn I don't know if there is a widely-accecpted, quantitative definition??? There isn't for anything else that has to do with thyroid!
Avatar f tn I went to see a rheumatologist and I just found out I have Osteoarthritis which explains my excruciating pain when it flares up. Osteoarthritis fatigues you also the pain is horrible from top to bottom you feel stressed as well as depressed because you feel it will never end. But their is hope, I take diclofanac for the pain, but now I have to go back to the specialist to see how far it's advanced.
Avatar n tn I am an extemely fit and active 53 year old female with a lot of osteoarthritis in my lower back( I've been on Lodeine twice a day since age 44 for that), and I've always dealt with it by keeping active and walking to keep my back muscles strong. But, the Atenolol was making me feel like a zombie. Then he switched me to Topamax 50 mg. per day, which hasn't done a darned thing for months, then upped it to 100 mg. a day-again doesn't do a thing.
Avatar n tn It started in my shoulders and has moved all over my body. I also had testicular cancer, and one treatment of chemo and syphillis last year. Rheuamtology tests have comeup negative and doctors are at a loss for what is going on. Am fully recovered at this time from both. Also beginning to feel numbness and tingling in my hands and fingers. Also it is not just cracking, there is strange movement and sometimes I have mild involuntary twitching though it is becoming more frequent.
Avatar n tn When did your pain begin, what were you doing at the time, and what were the initial symptoms? Grinding is characteristic of osteoarthritis; locking and catching are characteristic of meniscus injuries and osteochondritis dissecans (meniscus injuries are much more common than osteochondritis dissecans); and giving way is more characteristic of ligamentous injuries. Are there any positions that make your knee more or less comfortable?
Avatar n tn I had one laser treatment but it was a freebie and did nothing (SmartXide Dot laser) I've done all this for well over a year and NOTHING has improved. I look like a 40-year-old with an 80-year-old's arms. I live in Canada, so have more opportunity to cover my arms than someone living in Florida and cover them I do. I am embarrassed by them. I feel shocked when I look in the mirror. So ladies, I empathize fully. If I find a solution, I will post for you all.
203342 tn?1328740807 She went for the accupuncture treatments, 5 in all, and then had her blood work redone and her liver enzymes were still high but had come down alot. Out vet believes in homopathy treatment and I am glad we were open to this. We are just taking it one day at a time. I just discovered this web site and I must say that this forum is such a good and helpful idea. It lets us all know we have someone to talk to about our dog's problems and know we are not alone.
Avatar n tn Long story short- I found a doctor who finally treated me for Lymes with Doxycycline and I low and behold, I got better and consequently--no more orange tongue (it's been a year since treatment). The orange, I believe to likely have been from one of one of the bacteria I had contracted from a tick bite. As I grew more and more ill, my skin under tones also changed to orangish/copper like color (enough to have had to change the colors of my makeup).
551343 tn?1506834118 I am two weeks into Doxycycline treatment that will last a month and will follow-up from there. It's a scary yet positive prognosis as with the right doctors I can most likely be treated aggressively and reduce the symptoms I feel on a daily basis. Thank you for reading my story.
363682 tn?1299492962 Strangely enough, I have had chiropractic treatment 'on and off' for lower back pain that began (as I thought) as a pulled muscle on the middle left side just above the buttocks. Since this treatment, although much better, the back pain is still nagging around following any lifting/bending - but, with hindsight, the onset of the back problem may well also coincide with the onset of these headaches.
Avatar f tn It doesn't look like there are any cures for it and no treatment that really works! I'm so tired of not sleeping at night and sometimes the extreme itching & tingling burning sensations make me cry! Nothing seems to work. My dermatologist gave me a steroid cream to use and Hydroxyzine pills to help me sleep. They worked the first night, but for some reason since then have not worked at all. I'm exhausted and frustrated with this horrible ailment!
Avatar n tn Everything came back normal except my spine has osteoarthritis and scoliosis and a couple bone spurs. So maybe thats the reason. I asked a doctor and she looked at me like I was crazy and prescribed ativan for anxiety and albuterol for the wheeze. I am afraid to ask any other doctor, due to they just give you that funny look and say "it sounds like your breathing", I even asked my husband and he said the same thing.
Avatar n tn good call!! I think you are correct. they did almost completly go away. I am now off of the antibiotics and just on the steriod spray. Turns out I have a severe deviated septum that needs surgury. So hopefully once this all is done I will be good to go.
Avatar n tn Dear Sue, My name is Chantelle & I was so touched by what you wrote. I am 26 years old & I was addicted to Vicodin, Lorcet,& Fiorinal with Codiene. I would take anything that was Codiene based. I also have been doing this for 5 years. My son was born in 93 & I began to have headaches. I started with Vicodin & everything progressed. I was taking 10 to 12 a day just to get through the day.
Avatar n tn I found out through a friend about a chiropractor/acupunturist who does an allergy elimination type treatment. There are a lot of quacks out there and I was very happy when I found her for my son who was having severe food allergies. When my son and subsequently other family members had such perfect results from this treamtent I let the doctor test me and found many food allergies. Wheat, milk, vitamin C, and many others that were not as severe.
