Avatar f tn 5 weeks ago I had both my hips replaced, I was out picking tomatoes today and walked a few miles...I'm only 51, but finally hit my "breaking point"..also tried all the narco drugs you mentioned (hydromorphone worked best for me, by the way)...but in the end, decided I had to have surgery or life would lose it's fun for me...if I out live the implant-so be it, back to the or for another overhaul..I am in less pain already than prior to surgery....Best of luck in your decision.
Avatar n tn (( I have inflammation and searced google for ANTI INFLAMMATORY DIET and FOODS. Saw that there are a lot of foods that are considered proflammatory. It changed my way of eating. After reading all the foods that are proflammatory that I always thought were good for you, I wished I knew about it so many years ago. You know the saying: "You are what you eat?" Let me know what you find. I could use more choices of foods to eat.
Avatar f tn Avoid nightshades and eating the skin of tomatoes, potatoes and eggplant. These contain substances that may inflame joints. There is literature to suggest that a daily dose of vitamin D3 will be effective in preventing degeneration.
Avatar m tn If so, inflammation causes pain all over the body, joints and muscles. It is recommended that one avoid tomatoes, potatoes, egg plant and mushrooms as they can aggravate the pain. I take Essiac and old Osage Indian remedy which really helps me. Also I take Gabapentin (Neurontin) when the pain gets excessive. I hope this helps you. See a rheumatologist.

Avatar f tn Any pro-inflammatory food can be a problem, particularly wheat and dairy and sugar or foods that turn into sugar quickly, and nightshades for some people. Complicated stuff here.

Osteoarthritis is a degeneration of the bones and cartilage and this happens slowly over time and also if you have had any injuries. Although nothing showed up in your blood tests, this does not mean that you do not have a problem. It just has not been found and diagnosed yet.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, osteoarthritis, like any other type of arthritis has flare ups and then you feel a little better for a while and it can flare up again. Ask your doctor to refer you to physiotherapy who can give you specific exercises to do so that you do not become too stiff. Although rest is important, you still need to be active, but not to the point that you get exhausted. Unless you have been told otherwise, a healthy balanced diet with fish, fruit and veg would be fine.
Avatar f tn Take the 30 day challenge of excluding all foods in the nightshade food group ie. Potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant. See if your condition improves. Hard to believe? Yes! But my pain has decreased so dramatically in 2 weeks that I almost can't believe it. After the 30 days are up try reintroducing those foods one at a time and see if the pain returns. If the pain does return avoid that particular food. Wait a couple of weeks for the pain to subside then try another one.

She keeps this in the refrigerator and uses a spoon or so of the juice at a time to make ginger tea, to which she adds a little honey. In addition to making the tea, I also buy candied ginger. Sometimes I nibble on it and sometimes I chop it up and add it and the syrup to vanilla ice cream. You can also buy ginger in capsules.

I've been treated for allergies for 40 years and discovered that allergies change over time, especially food allergies. I was convinced I had RA, but after seeing three different rheumatologists, I am still trying to find out what is wrong with me. I've had MRI's, bone scans, x-rays, and bloodwork to check for RA, gout, lupus, and other inflammatory diseases. Everything always comes back normal in my tests.

Regular exercise will not only improve joint stability but will also aid in weight control. Exercise also reduces inflammation. Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. Both of these bad habits increase free radical generation and inflammation.

I think if you look it up here on the net, maybe on google, it will list them somewhere. I have seen a list on the net of foods that cause swelling of the joints. I am sure tomatoes and potatoes are a couple of them. I will search when I'm done here and let you know if I find it.

My dad died at 80 with a blood clot in his leg and severe pain in knees, shoulders, etc. He hurt for a long time and endured and took Vicodin for a few years before he died. He was not an addict, though. He was a good, strong man. I'm 54 tomorrow. What I should do? Suffer till it gets better? Will it? Sometimes I don't think so.

It's not proven that these foods cause problems, but here's where you pain diary will come in handy. You might notice a pattern of worsening symptoms after eating certain foods. Going gluten free: a growing number of patients I talk to have tried this and it seems to help.

Is your doctor testing FT3 and FT4 or just TSH? Many of us are very sensitive to meds changes and have to increase VERY slowly. This is especially true if you are prone to any cardiac arrhythmia. I don't know that you've been fired...many doctors are just clueless and think that if your labs are "in range" then your thyroid isn't a problem.
Avatar n tn Hello. Looking for anyone who has any answers or who has gone through the same thing. I am 36 diagnosed w/Auto Hepatitis in March. I am on 12.5 mg of prednisone and 200 mg of imuran/day. Anyone on that high a dose of imuran? Well, finally my numbers for the liver have all gotten to almost normal. Maybe 5 pts to high, but my bilirubin is 4.0. Way, way to high. Dr. thinking it could be due to toxicity being created from imuran. They are doing blood tests in the middle of Nov.
Avatar m tn Tested negative for RA factor ( prior to tx ) The joint pain was chalked up as having osteoarthritis and also from having cryoglobulemia, which causes very bad joint pain. At week # 16 of tx, I tested positive for RA factor, I can't remember exactly how high 68? I think. Anyway, sent to the Rheumy who informed me that I probabaly do not really have rheumatoid athritis. But that the interferon is causing the RA factor to elevate.
Avatar n tn I now have celiacs, lactose,weightgain,fibromyalgia,osteoarthritis and so many other food allergies and when I say food allergies I mean foods that I've eaten all my life that I dare not try to eat now and then it's weeks I don't want to eat. I really wish all doctors would be straight and tell you everything on the pros and cons. If there is a doctor out there please tell me what to do and help your patients before surgery to get a full understanding.
Avatar n tn well sorry to inform im only taking hcg to get my testosterone levels back to normal but I do know alot about all this kind of stuff and workout and nutrition and I like to talk to ppl about it all and learn or try and help so im here :) im getting my mom to probally start a cycle of hcg hopefully she will start by dec shes still need some convincing but ya if its not to much to ask if u could mail me the 500k diet you are supposed to follow pls thanks p.
