2137079 tn?1335983532 I have to say I can sympathize with you as I am experiencing less than great quality of life after only one round of triple tx that was unsuccessful. I'm contemplating doing battle again but not with interferon. The fact that you completed three rounds in five years is a testament to your strength and determination. Sometimes I feel really P.O.'d about everything I have put my mind and body through only to be told I may be suffering from depression?!
5496522 tn?1368819256 Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum (actually, any forum), and I was hoping to get some input from anyone who has suffered from complications post decompression surgery. It all began 2 years ago, when I hit a tree skiing. I suffered a severe concussion, but bounced back pretty quickly from the accident. A few months later, I began having neurological issues that were pretty serious, and after going from one doctor to another, I was diagnosed with Chiari.
Avatar f tn I continue to try to get back into sinus rhythm, but I can have a reasonable/active quality of life and have AFib, and that may be where I end up given my last poor experience with an electrocardioversion.
768044 tn?1294223436 I had difficulty answering this, as my migraines are getting progressively worse. However, I chose "Not able to work...." as that's the best my migraines get. I then get worse from there.
Avatar m tn I went last month to the RA for joint pain (just about all of them hurt BAD seems) Any ways he asked which was affecting my quality of life the worse I said knees so we started there. Scans so bone on bone osteoarthritis. He told me I need total knee replacements in both knees :/ I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!!
Avatar n tn This is ruining every aspect of my life. The main reason is because of how isolating and all consuming dealing with something of this caliber is. The problem is that, for myself personally, pain is a trigger for the depressive nature of my mind. I've read books on happiness and they generally say that people, despite great accident, will return to the mindset they experienced before the event.
Avatar m tn I am made to over-rely on my girlfriend and she and her family resent me. My quality of life is hovering near zero. I have been through therapy both pre-surgery and post-, and found it lacking value. I consider myself very thoughtful and the issues that are present don't seem to have any answers. Can a professional with experience dealing with patients in debilitating chronic pain offer advice? Please note that I do not have family, friends, or money.

Tbd I am in my mid fifties, have two children in college so have to work and I want to maintain a quality of life, not sit in my recliner because I am scared of broken bones.
Avatar f tn I am starting to warm up to the idea about going to see a doctor because the quality of my life just *****. I have been dealing with this for a long time, and I just want to feel normal again. I would just like some type of idea of what I am dealing with before going to the doctors.
Avatar m tn Ohio State does a 5 box mini maze and you can get info on this if you google the term on this message board or on the internet. Quality of life does suffer and as one ages, afib tends to get worse. The vitamin D question is interesting. I have actually increased my Vitamin D to 1000 mg. per day, increased my potassium, decreased my Atenolol and I am feeling much better with fewer irregular beats. My advice is to get all the info you can. Email Dr.
Avatar n tn Of course just putting up with it is not an option! Sometimes, just the way your bones are put together make you prone to joint damage with an active lifestyle over time. It's pretty common and it's nothing you did to cause it. Often, pain in one set of joints, like your hips or knees, alters your gait to the point that it puts stress on other joints - knees, ankles, feet, lower back, etc.
Avatar n tn I have a 5 step living will it tells the family what my wishes would be in case I can not make those choices myself as medical and funeral plans too ... It sounds like the quality of life at the end of life would be important. Chemo is hard on someone who is healthly and well nourished would be hard to imagine when a person is already weak i certainly would not want it in that case either....
Avatar n tn A Bone Scan was ordered and shows very little other than osteoarthritis and a couple of bone spurs. X-Rays followed shortly after and confirmed osteoarthritis and bone spurs but obvious evidence of metastic cancer. TRUS needle biopsy with 7 cores produced the Gleason Score of 9. More blood tests and an abdominal CAT Scan was ordered last friday(still waiting on results of that). My urologist has said I have cancer but is not very forthcoming on details just yet. What's going on?

Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to our chiari forum and our little chiari family. I am so happy u found us and r willing to share ur experiences with us, and I am so sorry that u r yet one more affected by this condition. I agree too, the surgery helps this from progressing, but we may have to deal with symptoms we had b4....I was told to expect to continue to have chiari symptoms as I still have chiari.....
Avatar m tn hbv has no symptoms even at the stage of cirrhosis and liver cancer, so no effect on quality of life at all.
Avatar m tn 17 yrs of living with and trying to be a productive person in society, after aortic valve replacement, my quality of life is such that I can no longer consider myself employable. With attendance issues being the foremost reason for this conclusion, Is it too far out of the question for me to be eligible for disability. I have applied in the past, and have always been denied.
1459410 tn?1285695005 I just found this forum, though I've been a member of the chronic pain forum for months now. I developed osteoarthritis young. I can remember back to my twenties and feeling it on and off, though it was mild. My mom was debilitated by it and on my dad's side, I had two aunts crippled by it. I'm 48 now and have it in my hands, hips, knee, back and ankle. The worst is my hand.
