I've gone to several Optometirsts and all 3 have come to the conclustion that I have the condition "Kerakotonus". I was originally prescribed contact lenses and I wore them as needed. But, when I took them off, my vision worsened. I reverted back to glasses and each prescription I received from all 3 Optometrists did not hep. I was told by my last Optometrist that I may need medical attention, because it's becoming a medical condition.
These are STATE guidelines and the Federal Government is actively working on making guidelines in the schools as well. Hopefully we will see even more changes.

California... I miss California! I am in NC unfortunately. Lucky to get regular benefits like schools or paved roads.
It sounds like your daughter would benefit from a program like MGM, which is now actually called GATE (Gifted and Talented Education). Many schools where I live (in California) offer the GATE Program. I know that in bigger cities, there are special schools for gifted children. I don't know where you live, but it might be worth looking into one of these options for your daughter. I think the psychologist was right on the money. Good luck to you and your daughter.
For the state I live in, California, the only thing schools are required by law to teach is about HIV/AIDS, other than that schools don't have to teach anything about sex ed and most schools teach very little about it. At my old high school we never touched on condoms or any type of birth control, no demonstrations, nothing. I really hope the school system in the US can change.
The schools might want to wait until the child is two years behind - but you said academically. That could happen the minute the child enters the program. Any way, a parent can request in writing for assessment and the school must accommodate them.
Not sure what kind of a program you are in that you need an alternative? But obviously you are looking at school and an after school day care. The public school might provide both, but I doubt that the after school part would be free.
Can you eat seeds? That would allow you to eat wild rice and buckwheat, for two. They are seeds, in the fruit family, not grains, and are quite low in sugars. And what about fish? The essential fatty acids in wild caught fish would probably help. As for nutritional help in California, that's the center of nutritional help. Probably a million of them. Every actor and actress there has a nutritionist, and it's the center of holistic medicine in the US. Sounds tough.
just remember that it still costs quite a bit even at a dental school. the prices in my area have tripled over the last 3 years to the point i am better off with a regular dentist who accepts payments.
