Mupirocin for staph

Common Questions and Answers about Mupirocin for staph

bactroban

Avatar m tn It was originally identified as staph and treated with Mupirocin and Clobetasol by my Dr. Unfortunately 2 weeks of use has done nothing. I haven't been able to see her again so I figured I'd post here. I have a feeling this could be fungal, but am not sure. As you can see in the pic, it is a red irritation and slightly raised. It has shown only minor response to both clobetasol and mupirocin. It has never itched.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and was told that it was a staph infection.I was given antibiotics and told to keep area clean. They did clear up entirely after about a week.I had them for two weeks previously before I had gone to doctor.I now have boils popping up again, but around my bellybutton area. What could be causing these?I also had a case of the shingles in this same area when I was eleven years old(many years ago).
Avatar m tn Then he prescribed Doxycyline Hylcate pills which are used for staph infections. It got rid of the the bumps for a few months like the Mupirocin, but they came back a week ago. My doctor has said the previous tests may have been false negatives since we may not have caught it early enough. I really don't if it is Herpes or a Staph infection. Can anyone assist?
Avatar m tn They then came back and the doctors said that I tested negative for a staph infection. I do not know what it is though. They seem like small pimples and are itchy when they first appear on my skin. They started in my crotch region and have occurred in other places such as my butt or arm. I am not sure what it is though. Usually when I am stressed out they are more apparent. Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis or bacterial infection by staph aureus which is highly contagious. Apply warm compresses on the lumps and keep the area clean. Topical antiseptic treatment and topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment is very useful.
Avatar m tn A month and a half ago, a staph infection appeared on one of my temples. It started with a simple boil that formed and then disappeared in a couple days, and after that a large lesion and several others formed in the same area. Three days after finishing 10 days of Bactrim, another small boil appeared in the same area, so I took another 10 days of Bactrim and was put on 5 days of Altabax ointment. Since then, I have not seen any new boils.

Avatar n tn I am curious if you can develop a staph infection from close contact to someone with strep, considering I was nursing to him all weekend.
Avatar m tn I have read and been told that antibiotic treatment is usually the best treatment for nose boils. What I would like to know, is WHICH antibiotic(s) is recommended, at what strength, and for how long? You should also know, that I am allergic to Penicillin. I live very near a clean and safe Mexican border town and have shopped there many times. Nuevo Progresso, Mexico, is known for its quality pharmacias, and I could quickly and safely go there to purchase antibiotics without a prescription.
Avatar m tn Sometime within the next week, I recall one instance of my scrotum being very itchy. Later that week (August 7th) I left for a vacation which included bathing in the ocean, lounging in a wet swimsuit, sweating in wet swimsuit, etc. By the 10th or 11th I noticed the bumps in my groin were gone and now looked like 4 ulcers, two one each side of my groin crease symmetrical to each other. I also noticed maybe 5 small ulcers on the left side of my scrotum.
Avatar n tn Could this be some sort of folliculitis or staph infection from the waxing and friction from sex in hot weather? I also have a slight fever.
Avatar n tn In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). It presents with pimples or pustules located around a hair follicle that may crust over . Topical antiseptic treatment is adequate for most cases. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment can be applied on the affected areas and is sufficient to cause a resolution. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn If the symptoms are severe you can go in for laser treatment or chemical dermabrasion. Also get yourself evaluated for acanthosis nigricans if nothing helps. I hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar n tn Hi, This could be a bacterial skin infection like Impetigo or an allergic reaction. Impetigo is a superficial skin infection, caused by staphylococcus ("staph") and streptococcus ("strep") bacteria. Though it is more common in children it can be seen in adults. The non-bullous variety is the common form, caused by both staph and strep. It appears as small blisters or scabs, which then form yellow or honey-colored crusts. These often start around the nose and on the face.
Avatar m tn It's staph or folliculitis for SURE. Strains of Bacteria HARD to KILL but consistent USE and it WILL DIE eventually.
Avatar m tn i had anal sex and after few days it happend i done a urine culture test week ago which results that I have staph ureus bacteria but the incident is about 3 years old. and on glance their is r2 or 3 red dotes what is this.
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms,it sounds like a boil. Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus.Bacterial skin infections can be spread by shared cosmetics or washcloths, close human contact, or by contact with pus from a boil or carbuncle. Pls keep the area clean and apply some warm compresses and topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics.
Avatar m tn Hi, Drinking alcohol does not affect folliculitis. Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles. You might try putting an antibiotic ointment like bacitracin or neosporin in your nostrils every night for a month, because staph germs hang out there and sometimes "seed" other body parts. Do not pop these lesions. This condition is commonly seen from the friction caused by wearing tight clothing. Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged.

Avatar m tn I shaved my arms once in late September and nothing was wrong for several weeks. After about a month i developed a red rash as shown in pictures. The severity of the rash fluctuates constantly. I ended up visiting the doctor in early November and I was then prescribed antibiotics. The antibiotics helped to clear the rash a very tiny bit but after the round of antibiotics was up my rash came back once again, but this time worse.
