It was originally identified as staph and treated with Mupirocin and Clobetasol by my Dr. Unfortunately 2 weeks of use has done nothing. I haven't been able to see her again so I figured I'd post here. I have a feeling this could be fungal, but am not sure. As you can see in the pic, it is a red irritation and slightly raised. It has shown only minor response to both clobetasol and mupirocin. It has never itched.
I went to the doctor and was told that it was a staph infection.I was given antibiotics and told to keep area clean.They did clear up entirely after about a week.I had them for two weeks previously before I had gone to doctor.I now have boils popping up again,but around my bellybutton area.What could be causing these?I also had a case of the shingles in this same area when I was eleven years old(many years ago).
The dermatologist was the one who did the biopsy and prescribed Mupirocin and Doxcy. But he noted that we may have done it too late when the virus could have been in the healing stage. I also forgot to note that I was also put on Valtrex (used to treat genital herpes) for a couple of weeks but nothing happened. So that could be a good sign, but still some signs are still pointing to herpes.....
It started with a simple boil that formed and then disappeared in a couple days, and after that a large lesion and several others formed in the same area. Three days after finishing 10 days of Bactrim, another small boil appeared in the same area, so I took another 10 days of Bactrim and was put on 5 days of Altabax ointment. Since then, I have not seen any new boils.
Then he prescribed Doxycyline Hylcate pills which are used for staph infections. It got rid of the the bumps for a few months like the Mupirocin, but they came back a week ago. My doctor has said the previous tests may have been false negatives since we may not have caught it early enough. I really don't if it is Herpes or a Staph infection. Can anyone assist?
Wash the area with warm water and keep it dry and clean at most times. Apply mupirocin, an antibacterial cream over the area once daily and see if this responds. After 5 days, if this does not respond, have your doctor see this. If discharge is present and if the bumps increase in number, then we may need oral antibiotics for this.
You should also know, that I am allergic to Penicillin. I live very near a clean and safe Mexican border town and have shopped there many times. Nuevo Progresso, Mexico, is known for its quality pharmacias, and I could quickly and safely go there to purchase antibiotics without a prescription. I would like specific info on what antibiotic and dosage/usage is recommended. Looking forward to replies from doctors.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. Since there is confusion as to what this is, I made a somewhat risky decision and applied Mupirocin ointment USP, 2% to the remaining ulcers on my scrotum that had not yet healed. After an overnight application and two applications today, there is a dramatic difference. The sores have stopped weeping and are almost completely healed.

This could be a bacterial skin infection like Impetigo or an allergic reaction. Impetigo is a superficial skin infection, caused by staphylococcus ("staph") and streptococcus ("strep") bacteria. Though it is more common in children it can be seen in adults.
The non-bullous variety is the common form, caused by both staph and strep. It appears as small blisters or scabs, which then form yellow or honey-colored crusts. These often start around the nose and on the face.
Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful.In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.

All the topical medicines like Neosporin,mupirocin and polysporin and antiseptics like betadene or dettol are available over the counter.Pls make sure to check your sensitivity to betadene first.If the symptoms do not improve even after using these topical antibiotics then oral antibiotics may be needed which are available only on prescription of a dermatologist.

Also to add in, I noticed that when I press on the painful bump, it seems to make the whiteheads push out some white pus. As if it was a reservoir of white heads.

My daughter and I both " break out" in small white bumps on both upper arms and elbows. It never completely goes away but gets worse when the season changes from cold to hot. What in the world is going on?
No test have been done, saw family physician, she only suggested a dandruff shampoo. I have been using T- Gel and Demerex.
About two months ago, I woke up with a small pimple on the shaft (sideway) of my penis. Couple days later, it grew in size (became about 0.5 inches wide). Very ichy and painful to touch. About a week later, it became filled with pus and when you look at it, it look like it has an "red eye" in the middle. Finally, it exploded while I was taking a shower and all the pus came out.
Two months later, it is still there but very small and more looking like a scar.
