Avatar f tn Accidentally, I sprayed mupirocin/Dextamethasone 5GM/45ML/0.1%, a compounded nasal preparation, in my eye. I rinsed the eye with water for about one minute. Eye has had 5 retina surgeries, has band kerapothy, and no lens. PCC told me it's ok because the mupirocin is also used for eye preparations. Correct?

Avatar m tn I was prescribed Mupirocin for a non-healing nasal ulcer. I used it for about 2 days then woke up with a bad headache today from the get go. I've tried everything I can. I have taken Tylenol TWICE, Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen in it, nasal spray, a Breathe Right nasal strip (since I do have severe sinus problems.) NOTHING has worked or given any relief.
Avatar n tn They have started me on Bactrim DS oral antibiotic and a cream called mupirocin 2% ointment 22GM that you put in the nose with a q-tip.. These sores quickly spread to my neck and are now in my back under the skin as well! My son came home from school with a cut from another child, and a week later developed blisters over that very cut. Then we later found out that boy who cut my son has MRSA and that's how I got it. Please stop touching them, you spread it this way!
Avatar m tn No diabetes -- a sample for culture from the nasal area - positive for bacteria (klebsiella oxytoca & Staphylococcus aureus). Have used SULFAMETHOXALOE-TMP-160 TABS, DOXYCYCLINE HYCLATE, & #50 C-MUPIROCIN 5GM IN SAL NASAL spray. The bacteria suceeds in hiding its core from the antibiotics and recurrence of infection has been constant over the past 15 months. Also have used Manuka Honey and Betadine rinses. Is it possible to debride the Nasopharynx?
Avatar n tn Not sure if this is related, but I also have been experiencing nasal congestion, it seems like I have been picking my nose constantly. Im not sure how else to explain it. Please any tips would help.
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms it can be cellulitis infection but it can be possible for you to be getting this infection from your friend especially if you had some open sore or wound on the thumb. It may also be caused by staph infection from the nasal passages of individuals coming in contact with the patient. So nothing can be said with confirmation regarding the mode of entry of the organism. Apply some warm compresses and topical antiseptics.
Avatar m tn I decided to make a dermatologist appointment, and she prescribed Nystatin and Mupirocin for the time being, and took two cultures, one of the corners of my mouth and one in my nose to check for bacteria. I had to mix the two prescriptions together 2-3 times a day for 5 days. The condition definitely got better, but was still somewhat visible. The results of the cultures came back last week and I apparently had a minor staph infection in my nose, so she prescribed Bactroban Nasal.
612551 tn?1450022175 Some docs recommend heavier ointments, and among them, a topical nasal antibiotic called Mupirocin or Bactroban is remarkably effective in preventing bleeding. However, since it's an antibiotic, doctors don't want to prescribe it for long-term use. Anyhow, for the nose-bleed crowd--as you point out--there are at-home measures the patient can take. It can also be worth asking the doctor if you've got an overgrown Kiesselbach's Plexus and if so, could it be cauterized.
933545 tn?1249942829 Recently i had developed a slight fever or felt like i had one, and then night sweats for about 3 hours followed by a cough. My doctor said i had a sinus infection and post nasal drip, he had given me antibiotics and it cleared up after 2 weeks. At the same time of the sinus infection i had a few 3-4 raised red bumbs on my right thigh... there were no vesticles and they had appeared to start from what looked like hair follicles.
Avatar m tn It was originally identified as staph and treated with Mupirocin and Clobetasol by my Dr. Unfortunately 2 weeks of use has done nothing. I haven't been able to see her again so I figured I'd post here. I have a feeling this could be fungal, but am not sure. As you can see in the pic, it is a red irritation and slightly raised. It has shown only minor response to both clobetasol and mupirocin. It has never itched.
Avatar m tn I have been to multiple doctors and none seem to be able to cure me. I had a nasal swab test done four years ago which came back positive for staph aureus, though doctors did not mention MRSA. Over the next few years I went to other doctors and a dermatologist, given such medications as bactrim, clindamycin, doxycyclin, mupirocin ointment, etc. None have worked.
Avatar m tn But, I thought I applied mupirocin onto my face because of a minor injury. So I am wondering if mupirocin could affect my test result and made it false-negative?
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response. Will I be able to get mupirocin over the counter? Since I don't have ins, can't go to the doctor. Thanks.
Avatar m tn will this cause worse scarring? I apply ointment onto it daily that contains mupirocin. how long should it take to heal?
Avatar n tn I think what I have is called mupirocin. Is there any medication you recomend.
Avatar f tn I recently called in a old prescription for mupirocin 2% ointment. My question is if I use it as directed will it help clear up these ugly bites? Summer is coming up and I don't want my legs to look bad this summer please help and let me know if the cream will work!
Avatar f tn Both of you are probably colonized with the MRSA in your nasal passages. Have your primary send a culture of your nasal mucous especially if it is greenish yellow for bacteria. I don't know what your doctor will tell you, but I have eradicated the carrier state for staph aureus in over ten patients. I can't practice medicine over the internet for you, but you could try to contact me if it turns out to be growing there.
Avatar m tn Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Back in August I had a lesion in the same spot and tested negative. They gave me a shot and mupirocin to put on sore along with pills to take and it Went away just fine.. this time I did not get a shot but I did get mupirocin and a different set of pills but lesion is still there after almost two weeks.. any way that this is not herpes . At since I tested negative months ago for all std and tested negative again last week.
Avatar f tn t know what it is. He prescribed an ointment (Mupirocin 2%) to be applied twice daily. I began using on 4/6/20. He suggested trying it for two weeks to see if it made a difference. It hasn't yet. He also stated he may have to do a biopsy to determine what it is. Because of the pandemic, I have to wait to make another appointment. Good luck with yours.
Avatar n tn He gave me a steroid (nebulized) to decrease the internal swelling and I am about to start trying mupirocin (nebulized) for 3 weeks to see if that helps. I do have my doubts if this will work (mupirocin precisely). I have "klebsiella ozaenea" infection and I was under the impression mupirocin is effective on gram positive bacteria and the Ozaenea is a gram negative bacteria. I wanted to ask if any doctors on here can tell me if this is a good try.
Avatar m tn Since there is confusion as to what this is, I made a somewhat risky decision and applied Mupirocin ointment USP, 2% to the remaining ulcers on my scrotum that had not yet healed. After an overnight application and two applications today, there is a dramatic difference. The sores have stopped weeping and are almost completely healed.
Avatar f tn A folliculitis would respond to mupirocin application. If it is a node may need internal medication.
Avatar m tn Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
