Avatar m tn Then he prescribed Doxycyline Hylcate pills which are used for staph infections. It got rid of the the bumps for a few months like the Mupirocin, but they came back a week ago. My doctor has said the previous tests may have been false negatives since we may not have caught it early enough. I really don't if it is Herpes or a Staph infection. Can anyone assist?
Avatar m tn They then came back and the doctors said that I tested negative for a staph infection. I do not know what it is though. They seem like small pimples and are itchy when they first appear on my skin. They started in my crotch region and have occurred in other places such as my butt or arm. I am not sure what it is though. Usually when I am stressed out they are more apparent. Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis or bacterial infection by staph aureus which is highly contagious. Apply warm compresses on the lumps and keep the area clean. Topical antiseptic treatment and topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment is very useful.
Avatar n tn I am curious if you can develop a staph infection from close contact to someone with strep, considering I was nursing to him all weekend.
Avatar m tn A month and a half ago, a staph infection appeared on one of my temples. It started with a simple boil that formed and then disappeared in a couple days, and after that a large lesion and several others formed in the same area. Three days after finishing 10 days of Bactrim, another small boil appeared in the same area, so I took another 10 days of Bactrim and was put on 5 days of Altabax ointment. Since then, I have not seen any new boils.

Avatar m tn Hello, Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus. . Hair follicles that are blocked by greasy creams, petroleum jelly, or similar products are more vulnerable to infection. Bacterial skin infections can be spread by shared cosmetics or washcloths, close human contact, or by contact with pus from a boil or carbuncle. Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.
Avatar n tn Could this be some sort of folliculitis or staph infection from the waxing and friction from sex in hot weather? I also have a slight fever.
Avatar n tn Hi, This could be a bacterial skin infection like Impetigo or an allergic reaction. Impetigo is a superficial skin infection, caused by staphylococcus ("staph") and streptococcus ("strep") bacteria. Though it is more common in children it can be seen in adults. The non-bullous variety is the common form, caused by both staph and strep. It appears as small blisters or scabs, which then form yellow or honey-colored crusts. These often start around the nose and on the face.
Avatar m tn It was originally identified as staph and treated with Mupirocin and Clobetasol by my Dr. Unfortunately 2 weeks of use has done nothing. I haven't been able to see her again so I figured I'd post here. I have a feeling this could be fungal, but am not sure. As you can see in the pic, it is a red irritation and slightly raised. It has shown only minor response to both clobetasol and mupirocin. It has never itched.

Avatar m tn Sometime within the next week, I recall one instance of my scrotum being very itchy. Later that week (August 7th) I left for a vacation which included bathing in the ocean, lounging in a wet swimsuit, sweating in wet swimsuit, etc. By the 10th or 11th I noticed the bumps in my groin were gone and now looked like 4 ulcers, two one each side of my groin crease symmetrical to each other. I also noticed maybe 5 small ulcers on the left side of my scrotum.
Avatar n tn I had that problem for over a year. It turned out to be staph infection. I was told to clean with peroxide every day and leave open to air as much as possible. Also, you need ant-biotics. The dr needs to do a culture to know which anti-biotic you need to clear it up. They keep coming and you have to get them to drain and continue using perioxide til it heals. It is best to go to the dr because it will go to other parts of the body.

Avatar m tn Earlier this afternoon (july 7th), i ended up going to urgent care and the doctor said i had impetigo, and he wrote me up a prescription for antibiotic ointment (Mupirocin Ointment USP, 2%) and sent me on my way. I still have some questions though! 1.) i read that impetigo is highly contagious. How contagious is it? i always wash my hands after i apply the ointment, and I don't touch the area at all, except when im putting the ointment on. 2.
