After my Kaiser GP spoke with the Endocrinologist, they decided I should have some lab tests done first to see if perhaps we could postpone or sidestep the MRI altogether (based on my financial situation). Apparently the results were acceptable as the only note I've received back is "Good." Will obviously need to follow up to see what course of action is next. Hello, I went to my Dr in February for several "random" problems I was having. She did some blood work and then 'wait and see'. Last week I caught a terrible virus and was in the hospital with the worst head and neck pain of my life (on top of throwing up, fever and chills). They did a Spinal tap and CT scan to check for meningitis and found it have Chiari...all aligned with the "random" symptoms I had been complaining about months before. I have an mri this week.

My husband was diagnosed with Chirai Malformation recently with Kaiser. Let me take a step back and say in 2002 with another insurance company he had an MRI done with his nurologist where an enlarged tonsil was noted, but nothing was ever done. He was being treated for Epilapsy. Over the last 10 + years he has continued to have new symptoms appear & worsen as time goes on. His quality of life is not good. He went to his nurologist, but he was not interested in checking him for Chiari.

Only to find out, after demanding an MRI with contrast, that I have Chiari 1 .... 5mm in size. The Dr that read my mri found it and I have Kaiser who refuses to recognize it. The " neurologist said NO its not Chiari. I went to the Dr that read it today and told him Kaisers overall response that it is a bogus diagnosis. He was infuriated and said my symptoms go hand in hand with Chiari.

I was never diagnosed as I lost my medical insurance right before my referral ( I had Kaiser and have Kaiser again now too). Anyway is it possible that if it started in 2004 that lesions will show up. If it didn't start till this November with my most recent symptoms will anything show up? I am concerned that my doctor ordered it no contrast to humor me and assumes it won't show anything... but I could totally be wrong.

Dr. Ghosh Thank you for your time to respond. I now know the real cause of all my symptoms as it became clear to me just today. My nerves are definitely being pinched or crushed or what have you. I bent over to pick up something and a massive nerve pain came in my L5 area. It is excruciating. I almost can't move, but I'm forcing myself to. I looked at the nerves from my problem areas in the C1&2 area and the L5 area and the T3&4 area.

Right now I have Kaiser Insurance, which means I can only go to Kaiser Hospitals. Generally I am very dissatisfied with them. The only concern I have is that I love my Neurosurgeon who performed my decompression surgery. I have other concerns which may or may not be related to Chiari and have a hard time getting help. Even when I meet with a doctor they lack concern and knowledge to treat my chronic issues.

i asked for an MRI becuase i know how some kaiser docs are. and he refused becuase he thinks MRI's are only used for preop. which i know its a load of crock. so im kinda stuck where im at with the doc. He did draw my blood though. As of now im haveing short term memory loss, hard to form words like cat sometimes i say cart. and been very weak n tired the past week. Also today i was kneeling down and legs gave out on my for a second, and it took some help to get up.

mri is more sensitive in spotting things but a ct is just as good. MRI takes longer to do....

Hello I have Kaiser I'm 15w with my second child, with my first I waited till the 20 week scan to find our gender, but I would like to find out earlier with this baby I know its only a month till my 20th scan but the issue is our sons 1st birthday party is on Saturday Sept 26th and my appointment is on the 30th, the inside of his birthday cake was supposed to reveal the gender of his new sibling but I wont find out till after so I would really like to know how I can find out before ?

Many drugs later, including a course of prednisone, the pain is gone, but the spasms and paresthesias are intense. So, they sent me for a cervical MRI to check for radiculopathy. I have been sympomatic since January. Kaiser will not run contrast UNLESS the normal MRI shows abnormalities. I think the concept is backwards! My neuro says he doesn't think I have MS based on this, but I have a hard time believing it. He says that this may all be anxiety driven. I totally disagree. Aslo, if this is MS...how long will the symptoms stay? I have leg tingliness, heaviness, CONSTANT muscle twitches, achiness (like I'm chilled to the bone), tiredness, etc...

I got my pituitary MRI (where a tumor was found) ordered by an internal med. doctor (not Kaiser, though when I was with them, I had a very good intern med doctor) after one abnormal pituitary hormone reading. Maybe your Kaiser primary care doctor would be willing to order the MRI for you, given your abnormal TSH numbers. Also, if you seek another opinion from a different endocrinologist within Kaiser, I do not recommend Dr.

I was 34 weeks when my job had insurance policy changes. I also had Kaiser. The first thing you do is start looking for a dr with the new insurance. Once you have your dr picked out ask for your medical records that way on your first visit new dr is on the same page and has a plan for you and baby boy. Register to a hospital that corresponds to new insurance as with Kaiser we didn't have to do that. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

Additional imaging and diagnostic tests may need to be done such as ultrasound, CT scan or MRI. Further tests to rule out for possible underlying infection may include stool cultures, blood cultures, lumbar puncture. Take care and do keep us posted.

Under BCBS, you need pre-authorization before the doctor can perform certain procedures including an MRI scan but I haven't been turned down yet for any of the treatments that I have had that required pre-authorization.

He said I need to get in and see a nurologyst for a brain scan. I could never get one because I was on medical. I have since gotten on a Kaiser health plan. In the past few months I have had strange burning/tingling sensations in my back, left side just above my shoulder blade. Now, minimal movment without pain in my left arm and shoulder area. Pain ful just to put on or remove a bra each day.

Got a call from Kaiser.. I'm being put on a preterm prevention program.. they will call me every week to see how my pregnancy is progressing.. Anyone else been on a program like this ..

I live in California and have Kaiser Insurance. I have had many problems with Kaiser on getting proper diagnosis and have actually had several of my doctors disagree with each others diagnosis of my symptoms and test results. I have 5 brain lesions and they have not seen any spinal lesions however they only have 1.5T MRI's and even 1 of my doctors said she didn't know if it was going to show a spinal lesion let or even all the of brain lesions that are possibly there.

I cannot give you the answers that you are looking for and I think you just have to wait for your next MRI scan next week and have faith that seeing someone else they may provide you with some answers. I am sure that you will get some helpful replies from others on this forum and stick around and let us know how you do.

I see my dr every four weeks. Once im 7 months itll be every 2 weeks. And the last month is weekly.
