Avatar n tn Not sure about the UK but here in Canada the Dr will send a requisition(name,DOB,symptoms, exam requested) to the designated hospital where u will have the MRI done. After recieving the req the hospital will book you with an appt date & time. They then send you a letter stating what procedure u are having done with a time and dtae. That letter should explain the procedure as well.Again...this is how its done in Canada...

Avatar n tn They can however, detect mental illness such as scitzophreneia which i know because i was diagnosed through an MRI. The only mental illness an MRI scan able detect is an actually different brain connections than that of a normal brain. Ive had one done for mental illess! Can you describe some of your symptoms, what you feel and how often yolou feel it? I know your question is based on needing to know where to get a private MRI scan, which i am unsure of!!
Avatar n tn Not sure where you live - I am in the US and I haven't had any problems getting copies of tests, MRI scans etc. Whenever I have an MRI, I am given the disc right then to take to my neuro's office. My neuro is sent the written report of the MRI results. When I see my neuro for follow up, I bring the MRI disc. He looks at it then, and reviews it with me. I only get a copy of the radiologists report if I ask for it. Sorry you are feeling stressed out.
Avatar n tn It is unusual and there is no reason for the MRI to cause this problem unless you had a dye contrast MRI. This is not an uncommon reaction to iodine contrast medium. It can also happen if you are a diabetic on metformin and take iodine contrast. Request a copy of all hospital records.
Avatar n tn I understand these should be avoided while pregnant, but what if they are medically necessary? Has anyone gotten an MRI or Cat Scan while pregnant? What was the outcome, did it have an affect on your baby? Was it worth it? I have been experiencing agonizing pain in my left shoulder, neck, and arm, that sometimes radiates to my chest, making it hard to breathe. I am having a really hard time sleeping, and even functioning, and my quality of life has gone down because of it.
Avatar m tn No overseas visits, uk based, living on his own for 30 yrs. hospital have been unable to diagnose during last 2 weeks having had head CT, MRI, and body CT scan. Only physical abnormality seems to be bladder thickening. He will not take anything by mouth and now refusing to cooperate with a drip. Most of the time hes silent and is able to talk, especially when being held down for injections, inclusing anti viral drugs, but mostly very confused conversation. Can anyone suggest anything?
Avatar n tn They finally told me the results and basically told me they were unsure to what my issue was. I had an abnormal ECG scan, so I did a CT scan, echo, blood test and MRI test which all came back normal and clear. Today I had my cardiologist appointment and he was thinking i might have ARVD, but MRI came clear so he thinks a loop recorder over 3 years is required. ps. I have undertaken 2 more ECG scans since the abnormal scan at the hospital and they have come back normal.
Avatar n tn Not telling you about it and not including it on the MRI/CT scan reports are two different things. Was it ever included on a report, even if your doctor(s) didn't bring it up to you in an actual discussion? I had a pineal cyst show up in an MRI and it was included in the MRI report, but my GP didn't bother disclosing this information and I didn't realize the cyst existed until I read the report, myself.

Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar n tn my wife had a mri scan on her neck the result came back as follows mri on the C- spine showd minor degenerative changes with a normal spinal cord there disc lesion at C6/C7 which corrugates the postrior longitudinal ligament by the spinal cord .
Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
763362 tn?1236624790 I have been referred to Physio and had an initial assesment where the consultant said that it looks like Degenerative Disc Disease, he said the only way to determine this better is by having an MRI scan, on going back to my G.P.
Avatar m tn i have had done mri scan done it shows one small disc is moved but doctor said to me is not worth to operate he recommend massage of spine and back muscles.my gp will send me to neurology to check nerve system but im still concern about doctors in uk .
Avatar n tn i had mri scan of my brian 3 weeks ago and now want me to have another with the dye injected first . does this mean they have found somehing wrong ?
Avatar f tn I have recently had an MRI scan and the report has indicated that I have a L5/S1 circumferential disc bulge whih displaces the exiting L5 nerve roots bilaterally.. On the left this effaces the perineural fate and contacts the L5 nerve root. A neurosurgeon has apparently reviewed my scan and said there is no evidence of this disc bulge without even seeing me and suggested tertherd cord syndrome should be investigated..
Avatar f tn Hi, last year I had an MRI scan. I was having it as the Dr was looking to see if I had an AVM on the brain, I get a lot of headaches and have an AVM on my right forearm. When I went to see the Dr he told me my results, he said there is a malformation there but it isnt an AVM. He then pointed to the temporal lobes and said they are low. I should of asked him what that meant, but I never ask questions when Im there, I just say to myself I should of asked this and I should of asked that.
Avatar f tn i had an mri scan and was told i had a right A1 segment hypoplastic. what does this mean please?
