Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan chest

mri-scan

Avatar m tn Hello, I have been experiencing significant chest pain and other various symptoms for the past year and a half, I am scheduled to get a CT scan of my chest this week but am concerned about the radiation. Do you know if an MRI can provide the same graphics? Your answer would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn When having a Hida scan, Do you lay in a machine such as the one of an MRI or what?
Avatar f tn The other day I was taken to our local emergency room with symptoms of a heart attack. The did numerous tests. One of the tests done was a CT of my chest, looking for a blod clot. I was told all of my tests came back negative. At my follow-up with my GP today, he asked if they discussed the abnormalities in my CT scan. It seems there is a lump in my left breast. My gp has ordered a mamo, ultrasound and mri. I am 50 years old and my last mamo was 13 months ago. How worried should I be?
Avatar n tn There was sensitivity to light and some pain in the area of the left eye also. After having a cat scan of the head, chest cat scan and angiogram i was told there was nothing wrong. I am on high blood pressure medicine and they are trying to adjust that thinking that might be the problem. At one point the heart rate dropped to 39. At one point the top part of the heart was not pumping in sink witht he bottom part. Anyone have any ideas of what this might be?
Avatar n tn I understand these should be avoided while pregnant, but what if they are medically necessary? Has anyone gotten an MRI or Cat Scan while pregnant? What was the outcome, did it have an affect on your baby? Was it worth it? I have been experiencing agonizing pain in my left shoulder, neck, and arm, that sometimes radiates to my chest, making it hard to breathe. I am having a really hard time sleeping, and even functioning, and my quality of life has gone down because of it.
Avatar m tn Went to hospital and they kept me overnite and ran nuclear stress test and ct scan on chest and abs,all came back fine. Now any excertion brings headache and numbness , throwing a stick with the dog i lasted 5min before headache and nausa happened,it has been 8 hrs and still have it. Drs dont know what to do,or what other tests to run. Maybe a ct scan of head?
Avatar f tn my husband's PET scan report shows SUV=3.9 to 9.7. In PET scan, there is a lymphnode in neck and some in chest. SUV of neck lymphnode is 9.7 and for chest lymphnodes, it is 3.9 to 6.4. Docotrs wanted to do biopsy of this neck lymphnode but it was found difficult to do. He said that there is also possibility of sarcoidosis. In sarcoidosis, may this SUV be too high? My husband has no symptoms of lymphoma. Now what should we do? Doctors suggested to take regular checkup. But I am afraid.
Avatar f tn It sounds like they suspect inflammationn in the lung. You should request an MRI rather than a cat. The MRI is far less dangerous and shows up everything you might want to see. The CAT, which uses x-ray radiation, is an obsolete machine. The "snow storm" could be mucus or fluid, or remnants of an infection. Pain and shortness of breath are consistent with such a problem.
Avatar f tn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_resonance_imaging The above link tells you pretty much everything you didn't want to know about MRIs. I had a brain MRI one time, I had to be sedated because I was afraid of it, they even have a little mirror in there so you can see out of it, sort of claustrophobic in the machine, and they had a microphone and radio in there so I could talk to the techs. When the machine started up, it was VERY loud, surprised me, kind of made a bumping racket.
Avatar f tn hi, ive just had the worst expercience of anxiety i have ever had, i was booked to had a MRI scan thinking, no problem ill manage that seen it being done on TV ill be fine, i had no idea i suffered claustraphobia, i was actually fighting for breath and felt like someoe was sittin on my chest i was shouting at the poor nurse guy to get me out, we tried a few times but to no avail, i was left a blubbering wreck, ay advice on what kind of sedative to ask for when i go for a re try and the dose, im
Avatar f tn another thing , we went to florida we were walking around the block, he passed out, had to call 911 , he spent two night in the hospital...MRI Brain scan, chest x ray, thyroid, the works , it showed nothing, only what we knew , that he has cervical spondolosis , but the CEA count is the prob. so we come back to Jamaica , then they decide to do Bone scan, and ct scan of the chest which showed the mass........
881463 tn?1245345649 Hi Dr. Junig, I have a few pending questions in this post and need to ask another about the Cymbalta I just started, as I am already developing some side effects. On/off Tingling/ mild electrical type feelings in my limbs and back of the head, very tired, bad headache & some mild nausea. I have also felt extra panicky and cry/get sad more easily. I started 3 days at 30 mg and Sunday moved to 60mg. I am worried about this medication & it's early side effects thus far.
881463 tn?1245345649 Given to date in the past 4 weeks all of the the normal/negative blood work, Chest X Ray, Bone scan, chest and abdominal Cat Scan with contrast, Abdominal Ultrasound, Gastrocopy, ecg's and stress test my doctor feels that the Thoracic MRI wont show anything serious, but likely more of a minor problem like a bit of wear and tear or a bit of a slipped disk.
Avatar f tn I went to the ER last night with chest pains, severe chest pressure, shortness of breath, and nausea. I have been having the pressure in my chest for a few weeks but chalked it up to anxiety. After all my tests including an EKG came out fine I was given a CT scan. The CT scan showed that the right atrium in my heart is "Prominent" the ER doc told me to go get an EC to get an indepth picture of my heart. (i think thats what it is called, they dont do them at my army base hospital).
881463 tn?1245345649 Hi Dr. Junig, I met with my Dr. & the bone scan results were normal. He said he cannot figure out why I am getting mid back & chest pain (dull or sharp), except to say that it is not cancer/heart related. The tests so far are: Gastrocopy, Chest, abdominal & Pelvic CT scan with contrast, ecg's & stress test, Chest X-Ray, Bone scan, allot of blood work are all okay.
Avatar n tn They finally told me the results and basically told me they were unsure to what my issue was. I had an abnormal ECG scan, so I did a CT scan, echo, blood test and MRI test which all came back normal and clear. Today I had my cardiologist appointment and he was thinking i might have ARVD, but MRI came clear so he thinks a loop recorder over 3 years is required. ps. I have undertaken 2 more ECG scans since the abnormal scan at the hospital and they have come back normal.
Avatar f tn if it is yes, then u should check maybe there is a block at ur nerve ....u should check it first...isuggest u do ct scan or mri for better diagnosis...
Avatar m tn I'm 21 years old, 135 pounds and I don't smoke. No known family history of heart disease either. I've had chest pains while running since senior year of high school. It would be a dull/pressure/achy pain in my mid chest that would go away when I stopped. I've had a resting echo, and MRI and a CT scan and they all came back normal.
Avatar f tn t feel like myself n after I have one I sleep for hours plus after Im always tired , chest and neck pains, face gets numb , headaches, light headed , vision probs, shortness of breath n heart palpitations.I have had aThyroid test , Blood work ,MRI, CT scan , EEG , EKG , n Chest X-ray they say they r normal but If my blood pressure gets over 120/60 I get light headed n feel real bad.
Avatar f tn I forgot to mention.....besides the Bone Marrow Scan, the Dr. wants a Chest Xray too. What does a Chest Xray have anything to do with Shoulder Pain? And would these two additional tests show anything more than the Shoulder Xray and MRI????? Sorry for all the questions, I am just trying to understand all this and especially a Chest Xray that dosen't seem like it should be associated with Shoulder Pain.
Avatar f tn I dont have any problem through my series of testing like endoscopy, colonoscopy, citi scan and MRI. I am hopeful that upon my post surgey my chest pain will also going away but its not and sometimes felt a little bit worse after taking chemoteraphy pills. I discussed to my oncology about the chest pain and again I took many test like ecg (many times already), 2d echo(2x), xray for possible lung problem and full scan from upper chest to pelvic which came back also normal.
Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
