Avatar m tn Hi, I can tell you what helped me. My headache, head pressure lasted 12 years and 6 weeks, and it took 180mg of morphine to overcome the level of pain. Just over 3 years ago, i had a little procedure done, NOT surgery - called Neurocranial Restructuring and in 3 days my symptoms were reduced like 95%. I had taken pain meds like morphine for 9 years. I've never needed or taken another dose since. I can't say if yours has cause similar to mine - but check it out anyway. ncrdoctors.
Avatar n tn Again she goes to the ER where they gave her morphine ( she is allergic to nsaid), triptane and benadryl, and told her is sinusitis. Te pain continues to this day, currently the vision of right eye has now dimished. Doctors keeps saying its stress. The pain is fixed on right parietal region, occasionally radiated to jaw. Optic nerve OCT is ok, visual fields with central visual field constriction, diplopia on downward gaze. C reactive protein normal, globular sedimentation rate normal.
Avatar n tn The ER doctor told me he had given me all that he could legally give me, yet it didnt even TOUCH my headache - when they gave me the morphine, I still had an awful headache and couldn't tell I'd been given morphine. All I could do was cry. I was admitted, given DHE (an all-stop migraine medicine) to which I had an allergic reaction....... talk about a nightmare. Fortunately for me, I'd been seeing a great Neurologist who specialized in migraines before this entire episode.
Avatar m tn my cousin, who has a severe neurological degenerative disease similar to MS has MUCH pain....was initially on vics....eventually his neurologist weaned him OFF the vics and ON to morphine....which he's currently taking and has been for awhile....morphine is much more regulated though....can never be called in to a pharmarcy....he has to go through this whole regime every month just to get his pills....i took one ONCE when i ran out of my lortabs at the time....
Avatar n tn My mother is experiencing excruciating pain in the back of her head (screaming and such). She is always in pain, but never to this degree. She has recently started to wean off morphine and other pain meds that had been prescribed to her, because they weren't helping and such a large number of pain medications get to be dangerous. She has been going to pain management for two years or so at this point, but I don't recall the pain ever reaching this point.
Avatar n tn I do not know what they gave you at the hospital, but they usually give me a pain killer called hydromorphone. Hydromorphone is like morphine but it does not have the same side-effects. Hydromorphone will not cause stomach upset, nausea or vomiting like morphine does for some people. If you get a prescription for an opiate medication, you may find that you need much less than you do at the hospital since you are able to take it before the pain gets out of control.
Avatar f tn I went to the ER with a severe headache, which involved near fainting and confusion. I can see being given Morphine, but what reason would I be given an IV mix of Morphine and Benadryl? Thank you.
Avatar f tn SHe went in with blood pressure of 212/139. SHe had severe headache. They have been doing nothing but giving her morphine for the pain and knocking her out. No tests other than normal bloodwork (cbc) her BP drops slightly when the morphine hits but then comes right back up within a matter of minutes. WE are worried that it could be caused be a neurological issue. Has anyone ever had these sysptoms or have any advice? Amything would be appreciated right now, we are worried sick about her.
Avatar f tn Maybe someone will know the answer to this. (I'm sure the NP went over it with me, but my memory is totally shot.) I am just not sure exactly how the Fentanyl patch works. I know it releases the medicine through your skin over a period of hours. I started out changing it every 72 but she changed it to every 48. What I'm wondering is, if I were to take it off and not put another one on, how long would the medicine still work?

Avatar n tn Of the types of headaches that are out there, the only type that it might be a normal symptom of is a sinus headache... but even with a sinus infection, it is rare to have swelling of the face. It is possible that a medication taken to treat a migraine headache could have caused an allergic reaction. Swelling of the face is often a symptom of an allergic reaction. Morphine is sometimes taken for migraine headaches and swelling of the face is a common symptom of a morphine allergy.
783371 tn?1237887461 Its generally Pulsating/ throb. headache sometimes worse, but never goes always, it is daily headache from the onset, no change in nature of headache for last 10 years, no sinus problem , No overusage of analgesics medicine as have not used any medicine for last three years and tried message therapist ,aqua pressure, acupuncture , but again no change in nature of headache. Affecting my concentration & career as it is persistent headache daily always for last 10 years.
Avatar f tn The headaches dont follow any specific patterns as they are always different and fit symptoms for every type of headache. I go to sleep with a headache and wake up with one. Pain pills sometimes dull the pain but nothing can make it go away, not even morphine. I have been for every test and scan and they cant find anything. i have tried so many different combinations of medications, none of which helped. About 6 months ago i was in a car accident.
628981 tn?1260555203 It’s just that I have a massive headache and I have not an ounce of energy. I’m on day six of a six year haze with hydro and morphine. If so, how long could I expect to feel this way? I’ve started exercising, which feels great too. I had my OP order, took the objective, and suffered no causalities…I just want to know what’s going on??

1052851 tn?1307741160 I just wanted to let everyone know that after a week of mild headache, I got a killer migraine last night, to the point that Fiorinal was not working and I had to take Morphine, which worked. But my Dr. warned me. The last time I saw her she said it was time to have the shots done again, and I was doing so good I put it off, well I shouldnt have, leason learned. I see her Dec 3, and hopefully she will have time to give me my shots.
Avatar f tn The pharmacist was concerned about the Codeine #3 not being enough to wean me off of the morphine. I cut down the morphine and started living in pain all of the time. I have appointment with new pain clinic on the 18th but I don't know how I am going to make it but I'm sure I will. Is this a normal way to deal with a patient? I don't think I was misusing the morphine, if anything I think I should have talked to them about the pain I was still in but the P.A.
Avatar n tn so i had the worst migrane of me life last saturday, i thought i was haveing a stroke, so i went to the emergency room and the gave me a shot of morphine and sent me home, i had to wait 4 hours in pain to be seen. the headache was gone by monday but on tuesday i noticed my neck was totally stiff, it hurts to turn left or right, up or down and its makeing my head feel tight, even my nerves to my right eye and upper right teeth kinda hurt.
Avatar n tn I also take a stool softener for constipation and have to take Tylenol now and then when I get the Morphine headache. Now that I have read several questions and answers, I will no longer take the Morphine and Oxy together, I didn't realize that they are the same thing basically. I should be using the Oxy for Break-Through pain - which of course, I have pain all the time, but I can take up to 3 a day of those, I guess my question is, when should I take the Oxy?
Avatar n tn I went to a knew Dr yesterday & he put me on Opana ER 10mg 2x a day & Morphine Sulfate IR 15mg 3x a day for break thru as needed. I've been on Roxicodone 30mg 6x a day & Norflex 100mg 2x a day prior to this appt yesterday. From what I've read on here the Opana ER is a good pain reliever after it gets into your system in approx 4-5 days so I'm hoping that is true bc so far I've not had any relief but I'm gonna give it a few more days.
Avatar m tn I've had migraines daily for 25 years been through it all, tried everything. Heading to a headache clinic shortly. When mine get severe and I have to go in for shots the best I've found so far is a 3 shot combo of toradol, phenagrin and morphine. As for the comment of the narcotics becoming addictive, well. That's a small price to pay to be able to live life somewhat pian free.
Avatar m tn I'm on high dose ( 420mg ) morphine s/r, 8 x 30mg dihydrocodeine, 2 x zydol, 4 x baclofen, 2 x diclofenic & 80ml oramorph per day & i'm starting to w/d. I've only dropped 1 x 60mg morphine pill per day & i'm really struggling. I've been talking things over with my wife & she says i can't be like this for the length of time i've been told it's going to take to be drug free & has suggested going to a 5.day detox. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn woke up with a major headache on December 12 2012. Has not stopped at all. nothing relieves the pain. it is dull, throbbing feeling of pressure. stabs of pain come randomly on the top/middle/right hand side, always same spot. it hurts when i wash and brush my hair, and when it is cold (being outside) or after shower. i am tired, dizzy, and have tingling in my hands, feet, and head. Doctor has not ordered any tests. says its migraines.
Avatar f tn However, I find the morphine is not as effective in helping me with my pain level and the side affects from the morphine are severe headache, stomache upset, tired then restless at times, eyesight affected, and just don't feel good or like me. I want to talk to doctor about switching back to my other medicine because it was helpful and I did not have all the other side affects like I do from the morphine sulfate er. Any other's have this problem or simuliar situation?
Avatar f tn ... titlemight sound misleading, but my problem is that since March 2005 I have suffered from a severe chronic bilateral facial pain. It's not a headache, i really insist on calling it a facial pain because i can feel it in the nerves under my eyebrows...and before jumping in, its not TN...i do very very rarely get the shooting, but its triggered from deeper contact - it truly never goes away, its 24/7, only varies in severity level.... ....
