sorry for my poor english doactor but i want to ask if could media otitis is a simptom of hiv.I aked because 1 year and half i had unprotected sex but the man di not complete inside me and after 7 weeks i had earache.I had gone to a doctor and she saied to me that i had media otitis and in 3 days i was okey again.After 2 months i went also to my gynaicolostic and i was ok i did have any trasmittede disease.But i am worried if i have hiv.Please tell me i have to worry about it ??
I suffered Otitis Media in late September, which was temporarily controlled by Amoxicillin. The Otitis returned in September, and I had to undergo a second round of antibiotics (Ciprofloxacin) , before it was finally brought under control. However, ever since then I have been left with persistent Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, daily headaches (pressure band across forehead and temples), dizziness, and general malaise and fatigue, with no sign of arriving at a definitive diagnosis.

It only hurts on the outside so I know for a fact it is not otitis media. I just put hydrogen peroxide on where I picked at it and I can hear it bubbling. I looked in the mirror to see that my ear was red. I never had anything like this and I am seeing my doctor next week, but right now I am anxious. It only hurts when I touch it and when I lie down on a pillow. Does anyone have a clue what this could be? It's so new to me...the only ear disorder that I am familiar with is otitis media.

All these causes will have to be ruled out one by one by your ENT through specialized test. If it is blocked Eustachian tube, then doing a valsalva maneuver (Done by taking a deep breath and blowing while pinching your nostrils and closing your mouth) will help.

A final thought would be to have your pet’s ear flushed to fully examine the canal and ear drum. Middle (Otitis Media) and Inner (Otitis interna) ear infections often require aggressive treatment. Routine blood work and a thyroid screen would be recommended as well.

There was a brand new study last week that states that antibiotics usually don't help with children's ear infections when they are otitis media, because those are usually caused by viruses instead of bacteria. I certainly had my kids on antibiotics for ear infections but new data suggests that was the wrong way to go.

also the ER doctor stated that he did not think it was vertigo that i was experiencing, he diagnosed me with otitis media and gave me an antibiotic. however, i stopped taking to antibiotic due to increased anxiety which has subsided since stopping the antibiotic, although i am not positive that the anxiety was caused by the antibiotic, i am still not taking it. i saw my gp, and he advised that i discontinue the antibiotic as well, and told me to just wait it out and see what happens.

A blocked Eustachian tube usually results from upper respiratory tract infection, otitis media or sinusitis. You can try simple maneuvers like act of swallowing since it activates the muscles in the back of the throat which help open the Eustachian tube. Any activity that promotes swallowing can help open the Eustachian tube, for example, chewing gum, drinking, or eating. Yawning is also very effective because it is a stronger muscle activator.

Whups, I wrote "inner ear" above, but my antibiotics prescription says "otitis media", so I guess it's the middle ear that's affected.
i went to the ENT specialist yesterday and he said that I have otitis media. I was able to tell him also that I have been dizzy (feeling of floating) for almost a month since ive started using treatments for my sinusitis. My balance is okay and I don't have that ear pain in both ears. Its just that the "floating feeling" isnt tolerable these past few days. It hinders me in getting my work done.

Hello everyone, I am 17 years old male and for the last 4 days I've been sick with otitis media. Mostly everyday I've got high fever (like 100-101 F). My normal blood pressure is around 120/80, but since I am sick it is 138/82.. Can it be that the illness causes my bp to rise or something? I also feel palps sometimes, dunno if that can also be caused by the illness...

Whether you should take it for a sinus infection is a better question. Sinusitis is second behind otitis media as the most over-diagnosed condition here in the States. Most people who say or even have been told by their doctor that they have sinusitis, in fact don't. I know this because of the huge number of people who get referred to me with this diagnosis, who upon CT scanning, don't have sinusitis.
I think, this problem of yours goes in the favor of Acute Suppurative Otitis Media. This condition appears because of the closure of the eustachian tube following common cold. Due to which there is negative pressure created inside the middle ear and the inflammatory exudates get accumulated. Once this exceeds the pressure, the ear drum gives way and one experiences discharge from the ear.
