Avatar f tn To find out whether your child is having contact dermatitis to milk(eczema)or he is having milk allergy(rashes are present in the mild form of milk allergy),skin tests and food challenge tests have to be done by an allergist.Pls consult him for that. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn From reading elsewhere, there are three distinct conditions: lactose intolerance, milk allergy, and milk protein intolerance. On the last, there's some disagreement about whether it's a sort of allergy, or a digestive problem about breaking down milk proteins, similar to lactose intolerance being a digestive problem about breaking down milk sugars. Lactose intolerance sometimes follows milk protein intolerance. Milk protein intolerance is difficult to positively diagnose.
Avatar f tn For a nine year old, this is complicated. Goat's milk is milk, and though it's easier on the human body than cow's milk, it's still milk, so the question is why milk is being discontinued. A lactose intolerant person might very well still be lactose intolerant to goat's milk, for example, but someone who has digestive problems with cow's milk might not with goat's milk. There's also a taste issue.
Avatar f tn Continued that day then diarrhea for approx 4 to 5 days. Recently a GI diagnosed possible DELAYED MILK Allergy. He does keep a mild bumpy rash on upper arms. My concern is can this type of allergy really cause this type of cycle? I would think he would have more symptoms closer together. We began NO milk protein diet& scheduled MRI next month. Will MRI only show brain or can they see intestinal problems as well?
Avatar f tn If you are allergic to milk, you can be allergic either to a protein in the milk or have lactose intolerance. Are you allergic to milk products? If not and if you are able to consume milk during daytime without any problem, then you are not allergic to milk. Some people are not able to take milk at night as it causes gas and bloating and vomiting. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Informative post, A food allergy is an adverse immune response to a food protein. A protein in the food is the most common allergic component. These kinds of allergies occur when the body's immune system mistakenly identifies a protein as harmful. These reactions can range from mild to severe.
2030686 tn?1351688548 Lactose free usually still has milk poducts in it and typically whey comes from milk. Any one else with a milk allergy on peg/riba who can help me out here? Any suggestions on what to do when I can't eat? Like I said, it's not lactose that's a problem, it's any milk products.
Avatar f tn Could be allergy or intolerance to milk, that's what it was for my son. Test for food allergy AND milk protein peptides showing up in the urine, indicating enzyme deficiency in breaking down milk protein. Is he irritable or occasionally spike fevers for no reason? My sons weight was in the 10th percentile and I went to the doctor from the time he was 10 months old for that and his emotional coping problems. I thought they must somehow be related, but was told no.
Avatar f tn a possible cows milk protein intolerance/allergy, but will only drink aptamil 1st milk -21ozs a day and is on 3 meals a day, why is he putting on so little weight? my daughter is 2 and half and was loads bigger than him at the same age!!
Avatar n tn You appear to be intolerant to milk protein, based on that test. Many sensitive people can handle milk protein if they take a protease enzyme supplement just prior to consumption. I would not recommend you continue to consume dairy products without this enzyme supplement, as you can make the problem worse, over time. Better yet, you can take an enzyme blend that includes lactase and protease both.
Avatar f tn or allergy/intolrance with some dietary ingredient. Most babies with milk allergy are allergic to cow’s milk protein, while others are allergic to soy protein, and some to both. Breast-fed infants normally have stools that look like watery, yellow cottage cheese. Their stools also are frequent, often occurring during or after each feeding. Breast milk stools usually are sweet-smelling as compared to the stools of formula-fed infants.
Avatar f tn If you have a nut allergy, you can try rice milk. There are many rice milk options available. Trader Joe's makes a really good one that they sell in the refrigerated section, if you live in an area where they are located. It is not uncommon to have sensitivities or outright allergy to soy. Soy is one of the top 16 allergens.
290867 tn?1333569278 My youngest son was put on Enfamil Prosobee for his milk protein allergy, since he was lactose intollerant. The Alimuntum I did try on my youngest son because I thouht his fussiness was from colic, and it didnt work, it made his poop really green, and he was still really fussy. Thats really all the info I have, and I just want to wish you and Julian good luck, and I hope he feels better really soon!
961466 tn?1247550382 Please take her to the hospital or dr and have them do an ultrasound to check for pyloric stenosis if they rule that out it could be a milk protein allergy in which you would have to eliminate all milk from your diet if breastfeeding or you need to switch formula. But please have your dr rule out pyloric stenosis asap. If she is not keeping anything down you should consider taking her to the hospital, infants dehydrate VERY quickly.
Avatar n tn Like wheat or gluten contains riboflavin which is found in milk also.So people allergic to milk may show allergy towards wheat also. This phenomena is called cross reactivity. Milk from other mammals (such as goats and sheep), and hydrolysed milk and soya formulas, are sometimes used as a substitute for babies who are at risk of developing cows’ milk allergy. However, the allergens in milk from goats and sheep are very similar to those in cows’ milk.
Avatar n tn Did they check for microscopic blood? I just ask because if so he could have a milk protein allergy and if that's the case you need to not eat any dairy while breastfeeding.
Avatar n tn Angel, my suggestion would to try to narrow down the problem. If you know she gets gas with dairy, the problem could be due to the milk sugar - lactose - or the milk protein - casein. If it's the milk sugar, you could just go lactose free. But if it's the protein, you'll have to go dairy-free completely - no dairy of any kind. Try going to Enterolab.com and read about the fecal antibody test for casein intolerance. You may want to do that test to find out.
Avatar f tn Hi, My son had his first set of allergy tests done at 8 mos old. Caseine may be part of the problem for your son (the milk protein) .. is there any in the turkey ingredients? I'm not sure if sodium caseinate is the same as caseine or not ?? I cannot recall. Corn and corn syrups are less known allergins, too, that are in some formulas. Some powders vs. liquid ready to feeds have different ingredients. If you use our food diary you can track your son's foods, etc.
Avatar f tn My sympathy to your sister! I had a similar experience 25 years ago that was finally diagnosed as a hiatal hernia/duedonuem ulcer. And, the trigger was not bacteria but an allergy to milk protein (casein/casinate). (See the no-dairy web page for avoiding these widely used food additatives. They even "wash" tuna to make it "whiter" with milk protein.) I went from 60 pills (Zantac) a month to zero once I cut out the milk protein.
Avatar f tn Red meats and milk. They're healthy but have that heavy nutrients so to speak.
