The doctor gave me Metronidazole pills to take to treat Trich and should told me i couldnt have any alcohol 3 days before and after takin the pills including the alcohol in mouthwash bc it was cause a bad stomach ache. i was also wondering if this included my toothpaste which has mouthwash beads? Or is regular toothpaste better or not good either?
Hi everyone...Recently I have been having several problems with the skin on my face. Up until about a year ago I had absolutely flawless skin. I'm 22 years old and live in Florida and used to go tanning alot but stopped about a year and a half ago. It started when I went on the birth control-nuva ring for ovarian cysts about 5 months ago and recently changed to yaz and have seen no difference.
The doctor now prescribed Doxycyline for 1 month and Metrogel 1%. There has been improvement, but very slowly with 2 flare ups so far. It has been two weeks since I stopped the steroid completely.
Will it ever go away? Will my skin return to the way it was before the steroid use? (I never had rosacea before)

Have seen two dermatologists so far but the condition did not improve. He was given topical metrogel 1% which did not work and the 2nd dermatologist put him on antibiotics for 3 months! nothing worked and wondering what other options he has.

My doctor perscribed me Metrogel 0.75. I have been using it since Jan 18th 2010 (last month). For the most part I have been clear, however I still see some LIGHT red areas like they are fading away. Have I not used it long enough? BUT, I cleaned the house yesterday, and now today I have a larger red area in the corner of my eye..probably from sweating? My doctor reccommended I take Doxycycline 100mg, accept I took two pills and had total stomach pain -with or without food!

alcohol should never be stopped suddenly unless under a supervised setting due to the many side effects with stopping Some are good with a taper removing 1 drink every so many days to lower the risk of seizures/hallucinations.. we have a forum dedicated to getting off the alcohol You may want to check it out.. Everyone reacts to medication differently. A medication that might work for me might be disastrous for you. You might have started at too high of a dose or increased your dose too fast, you might be on too high of a dose for your body or it might just simply be the wrong medication for you. I would inform your doctor of these side effects right away if you haven't done so already.
the only thing that works is desonide lotion. I am so sad to find out that using this long term has bad side effects.

I read on about.com that using a corticosteroid should only be used to reduced the redness and then use dandruff shampoo for maintenance , but like I said the dandruff shampoo is not working, it is actually making things more red and it slightly burns.

I'm taking antibiotics, including Metronidazole 500mg for h.pylori. I was at my sister's wedding last night and took 2 glasses of bubbly to toast with the guests, and then switched to water all night (being under the impression that antibiotics just worsen the impact of the alcohol so this is why you shouldn't drink). About 6-7 hours later I started feeling really unwell (nausea, frequent washroom trips, flushed skin)..
