Avatar f tn Another possibility that needs to be evaluated is steroid induced rosacea. Steroid induced rosacea or dermatitis is an adverse effects of using steroids. Some patients develop steroid-induced rosacea within weeks of applying a topical steroid; others may not experience it for years. Avoiding rosacea triggers, such as caffeine, spicy foods, and alcohol, also may help clear the skin.

1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi, I have had Rosacea for a number of years. I don't know what Type it is but it is red pimples on my cheeks, occasional white heads but these are rare, and nose and Telangiectasia on my chin. I have been treated with Topical Finacea 15%. It has helped for a long time. But lately I am getting a lot more small pimples and peeling skin. I put Cetaphil Eczema calming cream on my face before putting on the Finacea and that has helped with the redness. But my skin still has been peeling.
Avatar m tn I have been experincing internal burning feelings on the left side of my face that has left me with 2 small marks on my nose, the feeling is also in the left forearm and parts of my legs. Avatar m tn Other common triggers are red wine, caffeine, exercise, sweating and certain foods. You can check some of the rosacea sites for a more complete list. Cosmetics and even soap and many moisturizes can irritate the rosacea skin. I switched to the Cetaphil products like the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and their Cream Moisturizer which had the least chemicals. Always treat your face like a baby. Never rub hard with a towel. Simply pat dry. Don't use very hot or cold water. Lukewarm seems best.
493068 tn?1224765315 I would talk to the ophthalmologist about stopping travatan for a couple of weeks to see if that makes any difference. The most common side effect of travatan is redness and irritation of the eyes. If you're a lot better there or other medications for glaucoma that can be tried that are less likely to cause irritation or you consider a glaucoma laser RX (SLT).
Avatar m tn Some doctors classify lain redness as a form of rosacea, but even if you call it that, rosacea treatments like creams and pills don't help. Lasers and similar devices can help reduce redness. No treatment I know of helps flushing, other than avoiding whatever triggers it (wine, spices, etc.) You seem skeptical of the doctors you've seen.
Avatar m tn It's most probably rosacea which at one point was thought to be brought on by Demodex mites. That theory is not now not widely held as they have that many in the general population also have Deomodex mites but do not have rosacea. In any event, many of us -- including myself -- have developed rosacea from the treatment drugs, probably the interferon.
Avatar n tn My family practice doctor has prescribed metrogel for rosacea. After reading about rosacea, I am thinking it might not be rosacea. I do not have any rash or bumps, just little veins filled with blood. I am a male in my early 50s, I do not drink alcohol or smoke. I drink only one cup of coffee a day. There doesn't seem to be a time it is better or worse. I just seem to get more red with each subsequent year. Any idea what this could be? Do you think it is a form of rosacea?
493068 tn?1224765315 s more redness, more postules or more scaling. The Metrogel seems to work best for redness, the Razmid or Sodium for pustules (pimples) and the Elidel for scaling. Seriously considered laser treatments but seem to have it under control not to mention the expense. Like TnHepGuy, I was congratulated by one of my top doc consultants on finishing treatment but he said he never heard about tx-induced rosacea and would get back to me after checking around. He never did.
Avatar m tn Same problem here, doctor send me to a dermatologist, He put me on Doxycycline hycate and a face gel called Sulfacetamide. Was working great but the Doxycycline seemed to give me stomach issues. When i go back i'm going to ask about metrogel, that seemed to work better after my first tx. Best to you.
Avatar f tn My doctor perscribed me Metrogel 0.75. I have been using it since Jan 18th 2010 (last month). For the most part I have been clear, however I still see some LIGHT red areas like they are fading away. Have I not used it long enough? BUT, I cleaned the house yesterday, and now today I have a larger red area in the corner of my eye..probably from sweating? My doctor reccommended I take Doxycycline 100mg, accept I took two pills and had total stomach pain -with or without food! My question is.
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms that you have described, it sounds like roscaea. Rosacea is a cutaneous disorder of the central part of the face such as forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Treatment options vary from antibiotic creams, antihistaminics, sun screens to laser treatment.A dermatologist’s evaluation will be the best in differentiating whether it is rosacea or not.Other possibilities are seborrheic dermatitis, eczema or psoriasis(less likely).
Avatar n tn A word of caution, these are heart medications and will cause a drop in your blood pressure, so it is important that you watch for side effects when starting a beta blocker (hypotension, etc). Of course you need to speak with a doctor about this, my advice would be to possibly try a psychiatrist. They may be able to offer some suggestions for you.
1554921 tn?1294370388 Hello, I am 32 years old and have what seems to be Rosacea. I lived my whole life in S. America and moved to the USA about 2 years ago. I have lived my whole life in hot climates and never been in cold climates. About 2 years ago, my first winter here my face began to breakout, but not acne. I went to the doctor (general practice) and after looking and a few questions, the doctor said i had Rosacea. I have never had this before, only when it started to get cold.
Avatar n tn Oh I forgot to add that I have developed this weird twitching of the upper eyelid over the past several months. This was before I started using the Latisse.
Avatar f tn at first i thought it was rosacea as i have had this in the same area but metrogel did not work to get rid of this. i then tried hydracortisone 1% and this takes some inflammation down but is not clearing it. any advice the rash seems to have spread and is not getting worse or any better.
Avatar f tn Hi. I was wondering if constant exfoliation and washing my face with hot water and using harsh products would cause it to become sensitive and very reactive to everything? I turn quite pink when i eat anything processed, could this be very sensitive skin or a food intolerance or anything like that? I've had problems with my stomach and some other signs of celiac for a while.. would this make me turn pinkish-red when i eat?
Avatar m tn Dear quan31 , Thanks for writing in. First of all, please remember that the effects and side effects of accutane will last only for 6 months. So you don't need to bother about it too much. Side effects like dryness of eyes occur only while you are accutane and not after many months of withdrawal of drug. The flushing in your case may be due to acne rosacea which could concomitantly occur with acne vulgaris or after many months.
Avatar n tn (You only get five minutes and one shot with these things...dang hmo.) My diagnosis of Rosacea and treatment plan, for example was made in 5 minutes after making an appointment to talk specifically about Rosacea, pointing out my perpetual flushing, thickened skin around my nose and cheeks, and telling her that both my parents and grandfathers had Rosacea.
