Avatar f tn I'm taking antibiotics, including Metronidazole 500mg for h.pylori. I was at my sister's wedding last night and took 2 glasses of bubbly to toast with the guests, and then switched to water all night (being under the impression that antibiotics just worsen the impact of the alcohol so this is why you shouldn't drink). About 6-7 hours later I started feeling really unwell (nausea, frequent washroom trips, flushed skin)..
Avatar m tn On the box it says do not drink alcoholic beverages when taking this medicine. I only used it twice, and experienced bad side effects so I do not plan on using it anymore. Today (April 22), was the last time I used it. Will I be able to drink alcohol on Saturday, April 25? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I’ve been on my second day of Metronidazole and I drank a little bit of wine today. The concentration is 10 percent and I had it mixed with juice, should that be enough to cause any side effects?

Avatar n tn Hi Grarro, It was my understanding that you could drink moderately with most ATB's. But to double check I did some searching on the internet. The following is from a trusted web site. BEGIN QUOTE: "There are many myths about mixing alcohol and antibiotics and most of them are just myths and nothing more! It's one of the great myths that mixing antibiotics with alcohol can seriously mess you up.
187666 tn?1331173345 I am not sure about the medications that you are taking but you could possibly research the side effects of them .....and/or ask your pharmacist.....Do they not give you a paper when you get medications listing all the dos & the don'ts and the side effects, etc.... I hope you feel well soon.....and find the forum that can help you.....
Avatar n tn I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?

2030686 tn?1351688548 I started double therapy yesterday and I just wanna make sure my sides are normal.. I had the chills from time to time, but I was hot more. What I'm concerned about is my legs and hips hurt so bad I could barely walk. I 'm on a high dose of vicodin and it didn't seem to touch this pain. I had a small amount of chest pain on the left side, but it was mild pain and didn't last long. I took a hot bath for my legs and it helped for a little while, but the pain came back.
Avatar f tn The vet has now said to keep her on all of the meds except Galliprant and to come in for an anti-nausea as her belly might be upset from the antibiotic causing her to not want to eat. Has anyone had any experience with Galliprant and/or Metronidazole? Taking them at the same time?
1049259 tn?1295088478 Side effects can be all kinds of things and those which you have said above. If you get sick then you get sick, the medication should have already been absorbed. You will not overdose and symptoms start to clear in 1 day to possibly 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn I went to the obgyn last week they ran urine samples and std tests and everything was okay, I told them I’m spotting still for two weeks now three and cramping the test came back for BV so they prescribed me Metronidazole I felt way too anxious about taking it , Friday I went in for a ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound I believe and got the results today that it was fine. They now prescribed me clindamycin gel which I will pick up tomorrow due to pharmacy out of stock.
Avatar n tn Missed out some bits - the extra acid is what causes nausea and poorly tummy - the side effects of all this extra bile is the pain, and also other 'mysterious' pains as your gallbladder tries to cope etc.
Avatar f tn Doxy treats chlamydia - again, you had no risk for this. And yes, the side effects can be really bad. Not always, but some people have a hard time taking them. You absolutely can not drink alcohol while on metronidazole. It will make you very ill. If you end up taking it (you shouldn't), don't drink alcohol for at least 3 days after your last dose. You really need to get a hold on your anxiety.
Avatar f tn Taking it orally is much stronger, but has a lot of side effects, and this way it goes directly where your problem is. Make sure you use it as long as recommended, and don't be surprised if it comes back, as this treatment often doesn't get all the eggs. Good luck with it.
Avatar f tn turns out it was just Bacterial Vaginosis which is just an upset in normal bacteria in the vagina. I was given Metronidazole with is just an anti-infective and viola! all is well with the world.
Avatar f tn does keep me away from any of those that are known to have those side effects, so it must be the formula in how the drug is made.
Avatar n tn The treatment that you have been prescribed is correct. If you are having any side effects then get the antibiotics changed and even oral antibiotics can be added. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Avatar m tn What are some of the more common side effects of metronidazole for dogs?
Avatar f tn This might seem crazy but it's been going on for about 4 months now. Everytime I drink, whether it be one drink or 5 drinks, I wake up about 1-2 hrs after I go to bed with a racing/pounding heart and I'm real hot and sweaty. It's almost like an anxiety attack. Alcohol has never bothered me before and I was wondering if anyone had a clue about what could be causing this.
Avatar f tn It says that there is an alternative pill called azithromycin with less side effects. I talked to my OB about that and she said that she hasn't prescribed that to anyone who has trich. She said i can take it and come and get re tested but she thinks it wouldn't work. So she prescribed me metronidazole 1 dose of 2 grams. Sounds like a really big dose. Has anyone out there that has taken it and didn't get sick or everybody does? I know every people are different.
Avatar f tn Apparently the naltrexone/naloxone disrupts the absorbtion of alcohol into the bloodstream and she could not ever feel the effects of the alcohol. I have also read of a treatment for alcoholics where they are prescibed daily doses of naltrexone for this reason. To prevent them feeling any "beneficial effects"of alcohol. I hope this helps to answer your question.
