1049259 tn?1295088478 Side effects can be all kinds of things and those which you have said above. If you get sick then you get sick, the medication should have already been absorbed. You will not overdose and symptoms start to clear in 1 day to possibly 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn I'm taking antibiotics, including Metronidazole 500mg for h.pylori. I was at my sister's wedding last night and took 2 glasses of bubbly to toast with the guests, and then switched to water all night (being under the impression that antibiotics just worsen the impact of the alcohol so this is why you shouldn't drink). About 6-7 hours later I started feeling really unwell (nausea, frequent washroom trips, flushed skin)..
7205189 tn?1447794738 This caused diarrhea and vomiting which the vet then prescribed metronidazole for. Immediately she began pooping twice a day with meals and it was normal. When the medication ended she went a few days normal, then slowly started increasing frequency of pooping and then started having diarrhea again. The vet immediately prescribed the Metronidazole again, this time just half a pill for a dose. She went back to normal immediately.
Avatar f tn I’ve been on my second day of Metronidazole and I drank a little bit of wine today. The concentration is 10 percent and I had it mixed with juice, should that be enough to cause any side effects?
1595613 tn?1297284499 Continue giving Rimadyl and speak with your veterinarian if your pet experiences headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation, depression, fatigue or weakness, dry mouth. Other side effects may also occur. Speak with your veterinarian about any side effect that seems unusual or bothersome to the animal.
Avatar f tn s much less stressful on your system with fewer systemic side effects to use it that way. Taking it orally is much stronger, but has a lot of side effects, and this way it goes directly where your problem is. Make sure you use it as long as recommended, and don't be surprised if it comes back, as this treatment often doesn't get all the eggs. Good luck with it.
Avatar m tn Hi, Also you may want to ask your vet about Adequan shots. I had an older Lab, about 10 and 100lbs, with very bad arthritis and joint problems. It was a wonder med for him. It is not steroids. It's like the oral glucosamine and it lubricates the joints and actually helps to rebuild cartilage. It was unbelievable, he was running around again like he was half his age. The shots have to go directly into the muscle, so the needle is large. But my boy didn't even flinch.
Avatar m tn What are some of the more common side effects of metronidazole for dogs?
Avatar f tn m really cautious and worried about taking it because i searched and this pill has a lot of bad side effects, like making you really sick. It says that there is an alternative pill called azithromycin with less side effects. I talked to my OB about that and she said that she hasn't prescribed that to anyone who has trich. She said i can take it and come and get re tested but she thinks it wouldn't work. So she prescribed me metronidazole 1 dose of 2 grams. Sounds like a really big dose.
Avatar f tn A few months back (March) I had intercourse with a "friend" and during the latter part of the month, I was experiencing some pain in my Vagina. It was itchy, sore and most horrible of all.. I had this awful green/yellow discharge. I had to change my underwear lots of times. When I found out that I had trich, I bought Metronidazole and took 2grams (1 dosage) of it. Metronidazole made me feel really sick! Anyway, after a week I realized that I still had trich.
Avatar n tn my wife has been diagnosed with BV she was prescribed metronidazole i looked up the medication to see about side effects and it led me to trich which after reading about it my wife is having those symptoms sweeling itching burning it has become so bad that this morning the pain brought her to tears she has been taking the metronidazole for three days now and also pills for the pain but they do nothing and it seems to be getting worse also this morning she woke up with a rash around her collar b
Avatar m tn Hi, Rozex contains the active ingredient metronidazole, which is used to treat infections caused by bacteria and protozoa. Possible side effects that are known to be associated with this medicine include skin discomfort (burning or stinging), skin redness, itching, skin irritation, nausea, metallic taste, nausea, or tingling or numbness of the extremities. (ref: http://www.drugs.com/sfx/rozex-side-effects.html) If it persists, have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management.
Avatar m tn s safe and does a great job with seizures - usually with little to no side effects. If your dog can get along fine with a lower than prescribed dose, great! Still, don't be surprised if another seizure pops up in a few weeks. With the meds on board, it shouldn't be as bad (length of time and incontinence) as what you intially witnessed. Our neighbor's dog developed seizures around age 2 - he was also a rescue dog.
Avatar n tn Most of the tick borne diseases do respond to doxycycline, but Babesia does not respond to doxycycline and must be treated with medications that your dog has not been treated with yet including clindamycin with metronidazole, and others. Another uncommon disease that fits many of Lola's symptoms is canine histiocytosis. There is quite a lot of information about canine histiocytosis in the following Pub Med linked journal article (though it may be a bit technical): http://www.ncbi.
Avatar f tn Dr put me on metronidazole but could only take 3 pills . Had to stop due to severe side effects. Diarrhea is yellow and I am on a brat diet for 3 days now. No improvement.any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn On the box it says do not drink alcoholic beverages when taking this medicine. I only used it twice, and experienced bad side effects so I do not plan on using it anymore. Today (April 22), was the last time I used it. Will I be able to drink alcohol on Saturday, April 25? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Honestly it was the side effects that made me extremely anxious to even take it.
7052683 tn?1392938795 I would have a good discussion with your Vet to see if they feel this one is warranted and monitor the side effects if its continued. Do you give her a good probiotic???? thats something she really needs right now, somewhere I read it can be as beneficial as the flagyl...but don't take my word on that...again speak with your Vet asap http://www.wedgewoodpetrx.com/learning-center/professional-monographs/metronidazole-for-veterinary-use.
Avatar f tn Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
18818160 tn?1468368536 I did call the vet but they just said that the shot should have had side effects a lot sooner and to bring her in. Money is the issue right now or she would have went. I am beyond worried about my sweet little girl. She is an inside dog but does get to go outside. We live around plenty of woods and have lots of bugs that could potentially cause staph infections . Please help us out with some words of wisdom!
