I'm taking antibiotics, including Metronidazole 500mg for h.pylori. I was at my sister's wedding last night and took 2 glasses of bubbly to toast with the guests, and then switched to water all night (being under the impression that antibiotics just worsen the impact of the alcohol so this is why you shouldn't drink). About 6-7 hours later I started feeling really unwell (nausea, frequent washroom trips, flushed skin)..
For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily).
I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm.
My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night?
I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
Also after i have finished the metronidazole pills does that mean the (BV) odor has gone away?
The doctor gave me Metronidazole pills to take to treat Trich and should told me i couldnt have any alcohol 3 days before and after takin the pills including the alcohol in mouthwash bc it was cause a bad stomach ache. i was also wondering if this included my toothpaste which has mouthwash beads? Or is regular toothpaste better or not good either?
It could be a UTI, prostatitis, irritation from alcohol and dehydration from the alcohol and flying, or a host of other things, including an STI if you suspect your wife of going outside the marriage, but honestly, the only way you'll know is to see your doctor, get an exam and do some testing.
If you take the metronidazole, and it doesn't work (which it likely won't), you could end up screwing up your testing.
ok. Im tryin to think its just the yeast but im terrified its herpes. I think ive been reading up on all this stuff way to much and now im worried to an irrational level. Ive also noticed the bumps on the back of my tongue are enlarged and my tongue looks white and furryish. I no im probably just freaking out for nothing but could the doctors have missed something???? And now im on my period so i cant get tested for a week.
Hi, I have Bactorial Vaginosis, and they gave my some antibiotics, Metronidazole, but the nurse told me you cannot drink alcohol at all while taking this medication, so I wanna wait until after the New Year like either Sunday or Monday, to start taking it. Is that a problem to wait to take it, the nurse said it was fine to wait, But I just wanted to know, it won't make the infection worse will it waiting 5 or 6 days to start taking the medication??
Help.... my face turns ugly red for no apparent reason. Well, especially in hot weather, and when I get nervous, excited, or mad..... I have no insurance to see a doctor, please help me....

I had to take it last week for 5 days. Everything is great with baby. It does say that there is no harm to take it however I understand your concern. I'm 27w 5d I'm sure I would've been me hesitant at 6 weeks.
Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet.
Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
When I went in on Thursday he said he thinks I have Bacterial Vaginosis and prescribed me Metronidazole Vaginal Gel - one dose before bed for 5 nights and he also mentioned I have a mucus plug. Last night was my third night on the treatment and since leaving the doctor's office I have had some bleeding and since starting this treatment I have noticed that large amount of brown discharge. The discharge looks like little blood clots leaving my body and they have not stopped.
This is a difficult situation -- but you have made evaluation more difficult by continuing to be sexually exposed. It is impossible to know with certainty whether you have been getting new infections; exacerabtions of previous infection (or inflammation without infection) due to sexual reexposure; or nothing at all except bothersome symptoms that do not represent an important health problem except for the discomfort.

I’ve been prescribed metronidazole. I am to take two tablets a day for 7 days and was advised not to have sex or drink alcohol while taking the medication. I had one of the pills today (day was almost over when I picked up the medication from the pharmacy) and the last day, I will only have one more left. I will be seeing him while I have to take the last 3 pills. Two on one day and one on the last.

Not always, but some people have a hard time taking them. You absolutely can not drink alcohol while on metronidazole. It will make you very ill. If you end up taking it (you shouldn't), don't drink alcohol for at least 3 days after your last dose.
You really need to get a hold on your anxiety. I don't know if you cheated on a regular partner and that's why you are so anxious, but guilt does not equal risk.
Get counseling.
The tingling started the morning after my first metronidazole dose. At no point did I have an obvious lesion, sore throat, fever or swollen lymph nodes.
Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since I kissed the gentleman, and the upcoming Saturday 2 weeks since the drink sharing.
To note, I am certainly an anxious person when it comes to my health, and fully understand that the tingling, dry (not sore) throat etc. could very well be caused by anxiety.
Was at 3 different ENTs and one internist, nobody found anything besides low-grade gastritic C, no H. pylori. Also had a swab at the last ENT, no results but I guess they just test for the wrong pathogens.
I also considered SIBO, but here they don't provide any methane testing, only hydrogen. But my gut flora is also very bad, a test revealed high pH, high Klebsiella species, low Lactobacillus species, low Enterococcus species and low secretory IgA.
I have a white coating also have seen a couple Dr's they said no way was that thrush and they just kind of blew it off like no big deal. But I did go see an ear, nose and throat specialist and he does think it is related to my chronic sinus problems and the thick mucus. He also mention that the thick mucus may be related to excessive alcohol consumption.
