Avatar f tn I'm taking antibiotics, including Metronidazole 500mg for h.pylori. I was at my sister's wedding last night and took 2 glasses of bubbly to toast with the guests, and then switched to water all night (being under the impression that antibiotics just worsen the impact of the alcohol so this is why you shouldn't drink). About 6-7 hours later I started feeling really unwell (nausea, frequent washroom trips, flushed skin)..
Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
Avatar n tn Hi Grarro, It was my understanding that you could drink moderately with most ATB's. But to double check I did some searching on the internet. The following is from a trusted web site. The effects of alcohol are increased by medicines that slow down the central nervous system, such as sleeping pills, antihistamines, antidepressants, antianxiety drugs, and some painkillers. In addition, medicines for certain disorders, including diabetes and heart disease, can be dangerous if used with alcohol.

Avatar f tn actually you should've had 8 pills to take - for a total of 2 grams of medication. give the clinic a call and ask them to please check the pdr and call you in the right dose if that is all you were given. remember no alcohol at all for a few days either!
Avatar n tn I was told I had BV two weeks ago. I was given 5 tablets of metronidazole to swallow by mouth in one go that evening. I returned to the clinic on a Tuesday and was told some BV remained (half of it had gone). I was then given another 10 metronidazole tablets to take by mouth (one twice a day). The doctor said no alcohol but did not mention anything at all about whether I should refrain from sex.
Avatar n tn I am currently taking 4 1mg xanax's a day, 80 mg of celexa, 150 mg of welbutrin sr, 30 mg of abilify, and 1 mg of requip. Avatar m tn As far as interactions with alcohol, all I know is that it made me more sensitive to alcohol and made me a "wilder" drunk. Alcohol decreases the efficacy of the meds and can increase side effects. If you recently quit smoking and started taking a psychotropic medication and the stopped taking it your brain chemistry could be all over the place. I wouldn't expect the blackouts to keep happening, and I would expect weird symptoms for the next couple of months.

It was of course mandatory during the physical assessments to give me alcohol-withdrawal medication. Librium to be precise. Now I know mixing benzodiazepines is very dangerous in some cases, but I'm also going through mild withdrawal again...So should I drink? Is it safe? Avatar n tn Hello, I was inquiring about drinking alcohol with Celexa. I'm currently on 40 mg of celexa and have been on that for about 5 months now. I'm currently taking it for anxiety, and it has been working quite well. I was taking Zoloft for a couple years and it seemed to wear off. I had no problems with alcohol and Zoloft. I have a few questions regarding Celexa and alcohol consumption. 1. Is it safe to drink alcohol in moderation with Celexa?
Avatar f tn It could be a UTI, prostatitis, irritation from alcohol and dehydration from the alcohol and flying, or a host of other things, including an STI if you suspect your wife of going outside the marriage, but honestly, the only way you'll know is to see your doctor, get an exam and do some testing. If you take the metronidazole, and it doesn't work (which it likely won't), you could end up screwing up your testing.
Avatar f tn I always recommend waiting a full week after finishing treatment with metronidazole before being tested for yeast so you can get properly tested and not diagnosed based on the discharge. it's very easy to test for bv. if you are being accurately tested for bv and are told you don't have it, no reason to think that you do. if they are just visually looking at you and saying no bv, whole different story.
