Avatar f tn I'm taking antibiotics, including Metronidazole 500mg for h.pylori. I was at my sister's wedding last night and took 2 glasses of bubbly to toast with the guests, and then switched to water all night (being under the impression that antibiotics just worsen the impact of the alcohol so this is why you shouldn't drink). About 6-7 hours later I started feeling really unwell (nausea, frequent washroom trips, flushed skin)..
Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
Avatar f tn First, an acute dose of alcohol (a single drink or several drinks over several hours) may inhibit a drug's metabolism by competing with the drug for the same set of metabolizing enzymes. This interaction prolongs and enhances the drug's availability, potentially increasing the patient's risk of experiencing harmful side effects from the drug.
Avatar f tn Also after i have finished the metronidazole pills does that mean the (BV) odor has gone away?
Avatar f tn actually you should've had 8 pills to take - for a total of 2 grams of medication. give the clinic a call and ask them to please check the pdr and call you in the right dose if that is all you were given. remember no alcohol at all for a few days either!
Avatar n tn I was told I had BV two weeks ago. I was given 5 tablets of metronidazole to swallow by mouth in one go that evening. I returned to the clinic on a Tuesday and was told some BV remained (half of it had gone). I was then given another 10 metronidazole tablets to take by mouth (one twice a day). The doctor said no alcohol but did not mention anything at all about whether I should refrain from sex.
Avatar n tn Furthermore, the mixture of both antibiotics and alcohol can also have some additional negative effects on the body. Alcohol and the Effectiveness of Antibiotics Alcohol does not effect the effectiveness of the majority of antibiotics. However, antibiotics within the tetracycline group, including doxycycline, are hindered by alcohol. If alcohol is consumed while taking a tetraycycline antibiotic, the antibiotic may prove to be less effective at treating the bacteria or virus.
Avatar f tn html Do ensure that you maintain adequate fluid intake (about 2000 ml) while on these drugs and avoid alcohol as alcohol interacts adversely with Septra. Do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn I have a pertinent question to this forum which is whether any person with a Bipolar disorder should avoid alcohol altogether forever. My own experience is that alcohol triggers Manic/Hypomanic episodes in BP patients.I want to know the personal experiences of others and whether it is mentioned that we are supposed to avoid alcohol altogether to avoid precipitating manic episodes. My Psychiatrist has advised me to stay away from alcohol forever.
Avatar f tn I'm currently facing a dilemma; I've been at the emergency room all day due to alcohol-related issues. It was of course mandatory during the physical assessments to give me alcohol-withdrawal medication. Librium to be precise. Now I know mixing benzodiazepines is very dangerous in some cases, but I'm also going through mild withdrawal again...So should I drink? Is it safe? I took the tablet about 3 hours ago before leaving the hospital.
Avatar f tn It could be a UTI, prostatitis, irritation from alcohol and dehydration from the alcohol and flying, or a host of other things, including an STI if you suspect your wife of going outside the marriage, but honestly, the only way you'll know is to see your doctor, get an exam and do some testing. If you take the metronidazole, and it doesn't work (which it likely won't), you could end up screwing up your testing.
Avatar n tn Hello, I was inquiring about drinking alcohol with Celexa. I'm currently on 40 mg of celexa and have been on that for about 5 months now. I'm currently taking it for anxiety, and it has been working quite well. I was taking Zoloft for a couple years and it seemed to wear off. I had no problems with alcohol and Zoloft. I have a few questions regarding Celexa and alcohol consumption. 1. Is it safe to drink alcohol in moderation with Celexa?
Avatar f tn Hi, I have Bactorial Vaginosis, and they gave my some antibiotics, Metronidazole, but the nurse told me you cannot drink alcohol at all while taking this medication, so I wanna wait until after the New Year like either Sunday or Monday, to start taking it. Avatar n tn Hi Grarro, It was my understanding that you could drink moderately with most ATB's. But to double check I did some searching on the internet. The following is from a trusted web site. BEGIN QUOTE: "There are many myths about mixing alcohol and antibiotics and most of them are just myths and nothing more! It's one of the great myths that mixing antibiotics with alcohol can seriously mess you up.
Avatar n tn I am currently taking 4 1mg xanax's a day, 80 mg of celexa, 150 mg of welbutrin sr, 30 mg of abilify, and 1 mg of requip. I would like to be able to go out with my friends and be able to have a few drinks for my birthday but I'm scared of the interaction with all this medication and alcohol. Avatar f tn I’ve been prescribed metronidazole. I am to take two tablets a day for 7 days and was advised not to have sex or drink alcohol while taking the medication. I had one of the pills today (day was almost over when I picked up the medication from the pharmacy) and the last day, I will only have one more left. I will be seeing him while I have to take the last 3 pills. Two on one day and one on the last. Would it be okay to have sex on either of those days, with a condom?
