All pregnant opiate-addicted women are advised to take methadone as a part of a medically supervised methadone maintenance treatment program. Methadone is currently the only medication approved for the addiction treatment of pregnant women who are addicted to heroin or other opiates.

Without exception UROD must always be followed immediatley by the same ************** program which any opiate addict must undergo. UROD is a beneficial treatment specifically for individuals who want to get off methadone. It DOES NOT cure addiction nor does it prevent all physical withdrawal symptoms, and it does nothing for psychological withdrawal or furutre drug craving. Seeing a 'counselor' does not either.
I am curious what answer you recieve on this. I am also in a Methadone Treatment program and have come down from 100mg to 90 mg two weeks ago. I am moving down to 80 mg tomorrow. Ultimately, I want to be free of all of this madness; however I am very scared and do not want to fail. My counselor mentioned suboxone. Aside from k_renntp question, how long (on overage) does someone require suboxone treatment before dosing off of the drug completely?
How do you guys feel about Methadone treatment vs abstinence from Pills? I think I was trying to help myself with the Methadone but it basically got me addicted to synthetic heroine, which is worse to come off of than just the 4-5 days withdrawal of pills! I don't recommend it. I think if you can't quit pills, maybe rehab or try yourself- but stay away from Methadone. Any opinions?
From my observation (and I know it was only observation accompanied by what the people were telling me), Methadone withdrawal is far more painful and grueling than Hep C treatment. My observation and understanding is that methadone withdrawal produces severe symptoms of withdrawal which last for months. (nausea, vomiting, severe abdominal cramping, bone pain, general body pain, total exhaustion, tremors, perspiration, fever, severe runny nose to name a few).
I need some honest opinions please............ I recently started a methadone treatment program. I am doing the 6 month program. This is my 3rd day of treatment. I am starting at one dose of 30mg of methadone. Is this a good number to start with??? TOO HIGH of a number?? PRETTY LOW of a number??? I have hears many horror storeis of people and methadone, about trading one drug for another and all that.
Hello. Detoxing right now can be harmful to the baby who will feel everything the mother is feeling....especially cold turkey. Make an appointment with a doctor to discuss the different possibilities. One possibility is methadone as it is relatively is safe for the baby. Then, after you have the baby you can address your addiction and get off the methadone.
ve got methadone to begin with but my withdrawal from roxys was a hard one and I got very scared when I started cramping, fearing I was causing my body to miscarry. I just want to do the right thing but safely.

My mid-wife has been especially assigned to me because I am on a methadone programme & I've been told by my obstretician & mid-wife & pharmacist that the methadone is fine as a treatment to be on while pregnant.
I really worry about the withdrawal part of being on methadone goin to the clinic every single day, and getting my dose of 60 mg right now I have been on about one month for heroin addiction I used to be on this program 10 yrs ago but moved out of state and stayed clean for 10 yrs off heroin, but pain pills i still did like crazzy...
Methadone is definitely not the answer and really a very last resort. Vicodin withdrawal is much less severe than methadone withdrawal. Please talk to your doctor. You are much safer tapering off the vicodin or even cold turkey off vicodin then starting methadone. Start the Amino Acid recipe (located on this forum in the health pages).. Lots of good vitamins and useful stuff to help through the withdrawal.
I would be reluctant to go off any opiate while on interferon therapy; the risk of depression from the interferon is quite high, and the opiate withdrawal could precipitate a very serious depression that requires stopping treatment for the hep C.
There are a number of reasons people have trouble stopping Suboxone; the biggest reason is because it is hard to stop ANY opiate, including Suboxone.
