Avatar f tn I got the prescription from the doctor to take 10mg/day of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE. However, since I started taking the medicine too late, 2 days after I took the medicine, I still had my period, so I stopped taking it. On May 13th, I had unprotected sex. My question is: is it safe to get pregnant within a month after taking 20mg of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE? Many thanks!
2051102 tn?1330321233 I will be doing this for 6 months. Why is this medication prescribed? Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat abnormal menstruation (periods) or irregular vaginal bleeding. Medroxyprogesterone is also used to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant or undergoing menopause (change of life).
Avatar f tn is it possible to get pregnant after taking the medication medroxyprogesterone? are my chances to conceive higher because of this medication?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am taking Medroxyprogesterone also. I took it for 10 days and 3-4 days later spotting occured, then 2 days after AF arrived. The way I took it was before I went to bed. I've heard it has some bad effects, which was the case the first round. I did see my doctor during the first round of taking (for other reasons) and casually said that "yesterday was the last day" and she had mentioned that AF would come within 10 days.

194374 tn?1214480294 Hi my doctor has just prescribed Ralovera *medroxyprogesterone acetate* for me to take. Has anyone else ever been put on this while pregnant? It is supposed to strenghtan my babies support system due to previous m/s and problems. In the pharmacists info sheet it says do not take if pregnant, suspect your pregnant or if ttc. Also that it may affect my developing baby????? It contains oestrogen and is in one case used to protect the lining of the uterus.
Avatar m tn One example is Medroxyprogesterone acetate, which is an antiandrogen. This is used in cases where men feel that they cannot control their sexual impulses. The Medroxyprogesterone acetate will control urges and also may diminish pre-occupation which should make it easier to practice self-control.
Avatar n tn I was taken off Bellergal and put on Medroxyprogesterone 10mg.My question is I have terrible hot flashes.I'm on Tamoxifen and Had a hysterectomy. How do I know 10mg is enough.I had the same trouble with Hormal replacement. It took another doc. to recommend a high doseage that help a lot. I can't have estrogen. Is 10mg enough...And if it's upgraged what are the mg's..thankyou..
Avatar m tn Hello, Unfortunately there are no 'remedies' (herbal) or otherwise which will safely reduce a man's sexual desire. Antiandrogen drugs such as cyproterone or medroxyprogesterone can be used but they have plenty of side effects. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn Suggested taking Medroxyprogesterone to stop my period and take it for 3 weeks then stop so that it helps to regulate my cycle. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn Hello there, Depovera should not be used in early pregnancy. There is little or no increased risk of birth defects in women who have inadvertently been exposed to medroxyprogesterone acetate injections in early pregnancy. Discuss it with your attending gynecologist and get your doubts clarified. You may need regular follow ups and ultrasound during pregnancy to rule out any abnormality. Hope it helped. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Hello, Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat conditions like absent or irregular menstrual periods. There are chances of conceiving if you have started ovulating regularly .It is suggested to talk to your doctor about your specific risks and benefits of taking this medication. Your doctor should check your progress on a regular basis (every 3 to 6 months) to determine whether you should continue this treatment. It is best to consult your doctor and discuss your concerns.
Avatar f tn Going to give that a try. Staying positive in hopes of a positive. Wish me luck!
3109572 tn?1341623213 They prescribed provera which is supposed to induce ovulation and bleeding which I will start tomorrow I delayed taking it because I wanted to give myself a chance to ovulate on my own naturallly...I didnt lol. The generic name for it is Medroxyprogesterone. It is used for this type of situation often I was told by the gyn. If it doesnt work for me I will request an ultra sound at planned parent hood clinic which they perform for $300.
Avatar n tn My doctor precribed me medroxyprogesterone because I haven't had my period in 44 days. Took a pregnancy test today at the dr office and it was negative. They are putting me on this to induce a period. Has anyone ever taken this before? How long does it take for your period to come? I have six pills one per day. Also, any successful pregnancies soon after this drug was taken? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Depro-provera is used for many things besides bc .
Avatar f tn PROVERA IS NOT A BIRTH CONTROL Provera is used to treat abnormal menstruation (periods) or irregular vaginal bleeding. Medroxyprogesterone is also used to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant or undergoing menopause (change of life).
Avatar f tn they said that because of my cancelled ivf, the meds messed up my cycle and they prescribed me these pill called medroxyprogesterone(Sp) to bring my af up, i am very reluctant to take this pills. I started having af cramps on June 2 then until now. I dont know why im not comfortable taking it. The fact that the nurse told me that there is no way i could get pregnant, i did not ovulate last month. So, the chance of me being pregnant is really slim.
Avatar f tn ok so i had a DNC done 7 weeks ago. the baby was dead and i hadn't had a miscarriage yet so they had to go in and take it out. well its been 7 weeks like i said and on the 19 of last month i went in to the ER because i was bleeding quite a bit and they put me on 10mg of Medroxyprogesterone or a more common name, provera.
Avatar m tn My doctor prescribed Medroxyprogesterone 10mg for 10 days I didn't take it the first 2 days, because i was concerned after reading more about it. my husband and I are trying to conceive. I had my Mirena IUD taken out and 4 days after i started my period, it is now 10 days later and i'm still on my period! so my doc prescribed this medication to me from what i gathered it is to stop the bleeding. will this make me ovulate after i have finished taking it?
Avatar f tn is a progestin that is derived from the naturally occurring female hormone, progesterone. Progestins and estrogens comprise the two major classes of female hormones. Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat abnormal uterine bleeding, promote menstrual cycles, and to treat symptoms of the menopause. It also is used for treating the pain of endometriosis. So basically, in a nut shell, it will make me start AF (promotes menstrual cycles) and it will help with my endometriosis.
Avatar f tn Treatment for endometriosis can be medical or surgical. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are frequently used first in patients with pelvic pain, particularly if the diagnosis of endometriosis has not been definitively established. The goal of directed medical treatment is to achieve an anovulatory state. Typically, this is achieved initially using hormonal contraception. This can also be accomplished with progestational agents (i.e.
Avatar f tn It hurts after the surgery, but that is inevitable. I am willing to try the injection Depo-provera (medroxyprogesterone) because one of my country – surround area friend who lives here told me to take it because she used to and it was very good. Now she decided to have the tube-ligation. She is doing fine after all. Any ideas anybody on this Depo-provera??? Thanks in advance and good Luck!
170623 tn?1242667663 I kind of have them whenever they feel like coming or whenever I take medroxyprogesterone to make it come. But back in November my doctor did a wedge resection surgery on my ovaries to hopefully induce ovulation all on its own. My period was on November 19, and on January 3rd I tested (pg - negative and ovulation - positive) so my husband and I did our business thinking "what the hell, right?".

Avatar n tn ) the term sex addiction is not used, nor is it a disorder that is universally recognized and accepted. Nevertheless, the phenomenon of a person whose entire life revolves around sex-seeking behavior and activities, who spends an excessive amount of time in such behavior, and who often tries to stop such behavior but is unable to do so is well known to clinicians.
Avatar f tn I got a phone call yesterday stating that it was benign! Ya! My doctor suggested that I start Medroxyprogesterone QD x 12 days. He stated to try this for 3-4 months to see if it decreases my bleeding at all. I have tried to read up a little bit on the use of progesterone but am having trouble understanding it. I read that it should be used if there are no possible reasons for the bleeding such as fibroids. Will the Progesterone decrease the bleeding?
Avatar f tn My periods used to be a 30 day cycle, lasting 6 or 7 days and it would have a good full flow filling up the pad. But last year i had experianced 2 weeks of brown discharge and late periods that would be light. Since the month of may of last year it has become irregular and during december and january of this year i had taken hormone supplements called medroxyprogesterone, but it came with spotting inbetween cycles and early periods that were still light.
