How is medroxyprogesterone made

Common Questions and Answers about How is medroxyprogesterone made

depo-provera

2051102 tn?1330321233 I will be doing this for 6 months. Why is this medication prescribed? Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat abnormal menstruation (periods) or irregular vaginal bleeding. Medroxyprogesterone is also used to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant or undergoing menopause (change of life).
Avatar n tn I used Clomid 100mg and prochieve 8% this month and I am on my 30th day and still no period. I've read that prochieve ( progesterone suppository) can delay your period. How long does is the delay? I'm thinking of stopping using it since my pg test was negative. Should I stop? Please help as I am very concern about prolonged use of prochieve.
Avatar n tn Depo-Provera is a long acting form of medroxyprogesterone, which IS the generic name for Provera. So taking Provera won't reverse Depo-Provera.
Avatar n tn Once a definite diagnosis is made then appropriated treatment can be initiated. Irregular taking of hormones can complicate matters. Consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
Avatar f tn They're going to go over blood work (hormones, A1C, the works) and talk about how the diet is working. I won't see dramatic weight loss in three weeks (or I would hope not, that would be scary) but we're hoping for about three pounds lost just by changing diet alone. I also have to check in with Katie to make sure the pills are working right.
Avatar f tn Hello and thank you for taking my question. I do apologize in advance if this is posted to the wrong area. For the most part I have always had normal menstrual cycles until this past July. I had two which lasted 10 days each and is not normal for me. I also had/have vaginal discharge and odor. In August I had a normal cycle and this month (Sept) I had another lengthy cycle. Since, approx. two weeks ago, I started having dark bloody spotting, bloating, cramps and a back ache.
Avatar n tn Ok, I was put on the depo to stop the estrogen to stop cycling, so first it's too much estrogen, now it's not enough!? ((cyber-scream)) How is it that the apparent solution to hormone problems is to add MORE hormones?! I feel like a guinea pig! On top of it, she wants to use Premarin since I don't react well to synthetics, and she doesn't think synthetics will be effective. Plus, I have serious ethical reservations to using Premarin.
Avatar n tn the chances of conceiving without your af are slim. i dont think the removal of the cyst has anything to do with you not having a af it is all the depo. the depo can do lots of weried things to your body but i think you need the dr help with this one. how long have you been off the depo? when in 05? good luck.
1611503 tn?1325485790 you have been so helpful lol thankyou, so ok i probably need to take clomid if by the end of this month i dnt conceive how much is it or does it have to b doctor prescribed??? and what kind lol girl you gotta help me plus im about to be a navy wife and we made plans to have a baby in our new home im just lost right now.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on something called Medroxyprogesterone to induce my period. My breasts hurt so much and my stomach is killing me. Could I be pregnant and the blood test at the hospital was wrong? I need help please answer! My docotr's appointment is tommorrow/ 6.5.06 at 12:30pm. Thank you!!!!
Avatar n tn My job is fantastic and I am under no stress there. This is a mystery to me, and the only connection I can made is hormonal. After talking to the nurse who prescribes my hormones, I went back to taking them on a cyclical basis: estratest from days 1-25 and medroxyprogesterone from days 16-25, each month.
Avatar n tn Say, I found the study referenced on the Hysterectomy forum on this Health site and I posted it under---- Hers-Staff-NWC-Email Address - kateno4 04/30/2006 ----- See what you think. Interesting. Hmmm. I see it has not posted yet. I think I did it right. I will check in a bit.
Avatar f tn I am there with you! Hot flushes (as we call them here in the UK!) about 7 to 10 times a day plus several at night. For the first few weeks I thought I couldn't cope and was ready to go to the doc for HRT, but I have been on a herbal supplement regime recommended in the book below, and I am feeling better and coping better. I am like you - I don't go red but just very sweaty.
Avatar f tn Hi mimi’s big sis, How is Mimi? I’m really sorry about the bowel obstructions. I hope she is fine. With such supportive sister in you, her quality of life has already improved. Ketogenic diet is calculated to have just enough protein for body growth and repair, and sufficient calories to maintain Mimi’s weight for age and height. According to Wikipedia, the classic ketogenic diet contains a 4:1 ratio by weight of fat to combined protein and carbohydrate.
Avatar f tn The progesterone that is in the birth control pill or Provera is man-made and may be related to bad side effects when taken during a pregnancy. These forms of progesterone should never be used whenever a woman may be pregnant. Does the FDA having any warnings for Progesterone? Yes. The FDA requires that all forms of progesterone have a warning label on them. Even though it has this warning label, natural progesterone does not increase the chance of birth defects or congenital anomalies.
706727 tn?1229096832 I really think you should get a second opinion. It doesn't seem right that your Dr is ok with you not having a real period for almost 3 months. Were you regular before the m/c? I am very sorry for you loss. It's a diffcult enough time as it is w/out having to have the complications afterwords.
Avatar n tn My urine has also developed a foul smelling strong odor. Is this common or weird? Is there any way to treat this? HELP! PLEASE!!!!
430388 tn?1239588723 If you must worry then you can worry that it will take you a little longer than a women without PCOS to conceieve but unless bloodwork has been done, and it is beyond a doubt that you are infertile then you're chances of having a healthy child is just as good as anyone else. I tried for 3 years and just recently I found out that I was 8.5 weeks pregnant,(10 now) because I had irregular cycles VERY irregular, then I didn't think anything of it.
Avatar f tn I started on it at 15 and was too small and young to handle even the lowest dose. At 19 I take Medroxyprogesterone. It is made up of only half of what is in birth control, on a very low dose. My first period lasted 2 weeks, as both uteruses went at once. That is when it is painful. In terms of pregnancy, I am very fearful myself. Plenty of women have success stories but plenty don't. As purpletuzita said, you should have her kidney's checked.
Avatar f tn I'll have that tested at my next appointment in a few months. It is likely too low, again, so that may be partially responsible or contribute to for how bad I feel at present. However, getting my levels up never really made me feel much better....the other symptoms persisted. As an aside, I was briefly on generic Synthroid five years ago, from the VA, at a low dose of 25mcg when my TSH was 2.91, but that only lasted one year. When my TSH went back down to 1.3, the thyroid meds were taken away.
Avatar n tn And if the Implanon did indeed cause this, how did it cause it and how can it be fixed??!!! I spoke to one person who is still on anti-depressants one year after having it removed! I am very interested in hearing from other people that have experienced anything similar from implanon and what they have done to "fix" it. Thanks and good luck with the anxiety, I hope it clears itself up quickly for you.
158939 tn?1274918797 I have another week until I see the endo so I'm afraid it may drop a bit lower. My question is; how low can the TSH levels go before I really have to worry? Bad time to stop HRT - I'm having double hot flashes!! If you see a warm glow coming from somewhere in the Western half of the U.S. it's me.
Avatar n tn how big are the needles you have to take the hcg with? what guage size also how many cc is equal to 125 iu.
Avatar f tn After having the non stop bleeding from jan 14 thru feb 14 my doctor put me on medroxyprogesterone and that made me get my period and made the bleeding stop for about 9 days. then all of a sudden here it is again! it's like a surprise every morning waking up and seeing that it has continued. I dont know exactly whats going on. the other day i kind of had a little more bleeding than the normal spotting i get and passed 2 clots but it wasnt like a normal period.
Avatar n tn The lap report (through biopsy)showed that I have it. the pop didn't show anything. How long is hospital stay, and what should I know about survery.
Avatar n tn Any Doctor who tells you it is safe to take while already pregnant is a liar and trying to cover himself from a lawsuit. It is not safe and does damage some fetuses. Provera has damaged my child's life and the effects will be there forever. Once she became an adult and after years of torture and taunting from ignorant people treating her like a freak, she now lives as a male.
Avatar n tn What Is Pruritus Ani? Pruritus ani is bothersome and sometimes intense itching of the skin around the anus (rectal opening). It is most noticeable at night or after a bowel movement. The most common complaint is an irresistible urge to scratch. Some people will experience a burning sensation or note occasional bleeding when wiping after a bowel movement. This is a common problem that affects up to 5% of the population. It affects men and women and may occur at any age.
